Almost Yet Again.

Matheo.

“I think we should have just stayed home.” I mumbled next to Koda who had shifted into his wolf form next to me, turns out rogues were staying in one of the houses left by pack members to seek refuge further in pack land, it seemed they were the ones informing the rogue alpha of what was happening in the pack all this while.

They had now circled us, it was three against five and if they shifted I was sure the odds would be against us even more, so I had to make sure they stayed the same, three rogues shifted and began circling us, now we were in trouble. “How easy to pick you off, outnumbered and overpowered.” One of the men who had not shifted spoke, his words were true, we were ripe for the picking.

“Luna.” He sneered looking at me and I could tell by his unwavering eyes, that were dead set on me, he meant business and I was their target. “Poor little me is harmless, I’m sure just one of you could take me.” I offered raising my hands in the air but I was hoping they take the bait and the other who had not shifted indeed took the bait, he smugly walked forward, Koda growled along with the other wolf but I looked at them and they immediately stood down.

The man walked up to us and as he reached to grab my hand I grabbed the hunting knife Koda dropped when he shifted and plunged it into the man’s neck, swiping him off his feet I sliced through his neck again, blood splurted all over my face but I didn’t care, I immediately dodged the claw that was aiming for my back. “Now we are even.” I had spoken too soon,  a wolf tackled me to the ground, he tried to snap at my arms but I raised my knees and used all my strength to throw him away.

Koda lunged for the wolf and in no time his throat was ripped out, now all that was left was three against three, Koda lunged for his opponent whilst my other guard lunged for his, I was left to face the none shifted wolf, he was bulky, I could tell his fighting skill were mainly connected to using strength over agility. “Youre feisty, and sinister, there isn’t even remorse in your eyes, you enjoy killing don’t you, I suppose that can’t be surprising, you come from a family of killers.” He spat circling me but I remained rooted, baiting me wouldn’t work, emotions clouded judgement in battle.

“Will you respond Luna, or will I rip you limb from limb just like how your alpha ripped apart my family.” He sneered yet again but I would not give in, if his family had been killed that was on them, everything Savage had done had purpose, I would not doubt my mate so easily or even my father. “Killer.” He roared lunging for me with his fists but I spun back to avoid it and stood in attack stance, I wasn’t going down, and definitely not to a rogue without a sense of self.

He lunged for me again, I dodged veering to the right, and his partially shifted hands sliced through the air and nothing solid, I always prided myself in incredible speed and accuracy, just like papa taught me, I didn’t have wolf strength so he forced me to endure harsh training so that I could become faster, I slashed the man’s leg and he retaliated with a low punch to my stomach, it merely grazed me when I dodged it, he seemed surprised and even more furious, so when he lunged for me I used his building rage as my own weapon, a fist connected with my face and threw me away, I staggered onto my feet and lunged for the large man.

Leaping into the air I dodged his arms and roundhouse kicked him, this made him stagger back but I didn’t stop, I kicked his abdomen making him groan then sliced through his thigh with the hunting knife, he growled and lashed out with his claws but I dodged yet again and jabbed a pressure point on his arm, I knew it would numb the whole arm along with no nervous control, I thanked dad for teaching me that, without his arm functioning the rogue became more relentless and furious which I wanted, rage clouded the mind and his eyes were red pools.

Seeing as he was being beaten in human form he began to shift, during his shift I lunged for him and sliced through his neck, the weak point, I rolled away on the ground to avoid getting hit, Koda leapt over me and tackled the man who was midshift and tore his arms off, he kept assaulting him until gurgling sound echoed in the air and a head was torn off, I turned to look at the last wolf who was about to retreat and ran forward, we couldn’t risk him getting to his alpha alive.

Koda ran past me and tackled the wolf, they rolled on the ground snapped and clawing each other until my other guard joined the frey and broke the rogues’s leg, I ran toward the fighting wolves as now Koda had him by his neck, I plunged the hunting knife into the rogues’s neck, whenever fighting papa always taught the wolves to guard their weak points but these rogues weren’t and it made them easy targets to kill. I slumped down onto the bloody grass, I was stained with blood as well which was now either drying or still fresh.

“Thats it, I’m not getting out of the house.” I groaned making the two men who had shifted back laugh. “It wasn’t so bad, you held your own pretty well.” Koda complimented as he helped me up to my feet. I looked around us, it wasn’t supposed to be this way but the need for survival was there and those whose will was stronger survived that’s how the world was. “Lets get back, this blood is starting to dry up and stink.” I whined as both men walked by my sides to the car, the day had passed rather slowly, the sun was now baring down on us a little hotter.

I hoped I had been gone for an hour because Savage would have me by my knees if it wasn’t, somehow I just knew I was getting punished for not coming back in time, but he couldn’t really blame me for running into those rogues, they were everywhere. Thoughts of my mate made me want to go back home right then and be in his protective arms, I would never leave them till the world and our pack was safe again.I drove toward home, thankfully I always made it a point to carry extra clothes in my car and Koda along with the other wolf had benefited, it would’ve been awkward being in the car with two very naked men.

“So you and Lexi huh.” I mumbled and Koda choked on literally air making me laugh. “How did you know about that?” He questioned with eyes narrowed on me and I simply shrugged whilst keeping my eyes on the road, I had crashed our other car, hopefully my mate would get it fixed. “I am your luna, I know everything.” I smugly replied and he chuckled raising an eyebrow which meant he wasn’t  convinced at all. “Okay fine, I figured it out, it was kind of hard to miss plus Lexi is my friend, I would know.” I replied and he finally nodded to that explanation.

“Im still trying to get through to him, I really like him and I love spending time with baby Alvares, but getting through to someone whose been hurt before is hard and they don’t make it easy.” He explained and I totally understood, Lexi wasn’t going to let down his walls easily but with just enough time he would, plus Koda had proven himself capable of protecting him, it was only a matter of time before Lexi opened up completely.

“My advice as someone who knows both of you in every sense, just give it time and you might even realize that it wasn’t long till he opened up, it might be sooner than you expect.” I reassured Koda just as I parked in the garage of my house and walked in through the kitchen door. “Matheo Alrio Heathen, what in the name of the Goddess happened to you?”

I was definitely in trouble.
