I met you in the dark, you lit me up
You made me feel as though I was enough
Will looked through the sea of partygoers and saw the same faces. He looked around for anyone he hadn’t met. No one was different, everyone had the same clothes, skin, and body.
Everyone was too perfect.
He walked to the bar and ordered a drink, sitting down, bored. Suddenly someone new came to the bar.
He was different. He had dark brown eyes and matching hair, but his pale skin contrasted beautifully.
“H-Hey!” Will waved. The stranger turned.
“Oh, um, hi! We…do we know each other?” Will shook his head. “Ok, good I was worried we did, and I just forgot your name.” The gorgeous stranger laughed.
“Um…I’m Will. You’re…gorgeous.” Will turned bright red. “Um! I’m sorry I…I’m not good at…”
“Talking to pretty people?” The stranger laughed. “I’m surprised you’re tripping over your words with me. I mean…it’s just, I’m just me.”
“But you…you’re so cute!”
The dark haired man threw his head back and laughed.
We danced the night away, we drank too much
I held your hair back when
You were throwing up
Will and Nico laughed. They decided a couple minutes ago they would be on a date. Neither had a real date to this party anyway. They laughed and danced and drank.
They drank a little too much.
Then you smiled over your shoulder
For a minute, I was stone-cold sober
Will called a cab and they went to Nico’s place. Nico drank more than he did, but he was still drunk. He and Nico collapsed on the sofa.
I pulled you closer to my chest
And you asked me to stay over
I said, “I already told ya
I think that you should get some rest”
They fell asleep together and woke up the next morning with ponding headaches.
They decided to meet up again the next day.
I knew I loved you then
But you’d never know
‘Cause I played it cool when I was scared of letting go
Nico and Will had been together for a couple months. They were curled up together on the couch, watching Brooklyn 99.
I know I needed you
But I never showed
But I wanna stay with you until we’re grey and old
Nico and Will were terrified. The police had been called on them, because their homophobic neighbor had it out for them. She framed them for a crime.
“Police! Open up!”
The officers pulled them away from each other. Nico struggled.
“No! Nico, stay still! Stay still, listen to them! I love you!” Will screamed across the room. He was forced to his knees with a gun to his head.
Just say you won’t let go
Just say you won’t let go
Years later, Nico and Will had been married for years. Two kids ran around as Will carried a mug of coffee to his husband with a smile on his face.
I’ll wake you up with some breakfast in bed
I’ll bring you coffee with a kiss on your head
“In the car, here we go!” Will shouted as the kids buckled themselves in. “To the hub of learning we go!”
And I’ll take the kids to school
Wave them goodbye
And I’ll thank my lucky stars for that night
——
“I’m so in love with you
And I hope you know
Darling, your love is more than worth its weight in gold
We’ve come so far, my dear
Look how we’ve grown
And I wanna stay with you until we’re grey and old
Just say you won’t let go” Nico sang.
“I’m gonna love you ’til
My lungs give out
I promise ’til death we part like in our vows
So I wrote this song for you, now everybody knows
That it’s just you and me ’til we’re grey and old
Just say you won’t let go” Will responded, twirling Nico in a circle. He dipped him and pulled him into a gentle kiss, both men smiling against it.
