“What am I going to wear?!”
Heejin yelled as she paced back and forth in her room. She was stressed out on what to wear and Hyunjin was going to pick her up in an hour.
The sophomore stood in front of her closet just staring at it. Sighing, she thinks Hyunjin already knows what she’s going to wear.
Wrong. Hyunjin right now is also pacing around in her room. Hyungwon was helping her pick out an outfit.
Heejin sighs and tries to figure out what would look good for this date. They were going to eat lunch and then walk around the Han River.
“Oh! Wait, I know!” She yells and looks into her closet.
The sophomore grabs a simple white blouse and blue jean shorts. She thought to just go casual since they were just go eat then walk around.
Setting the clothes on her bed, Heejin took off to her bathroom to shower. She took a quick shower so she can dry her hair and put on light makeup.
As she finished changing and drying her hair, the sophomore was putting on a bit of makeup when the doorbell rang.
“Shit she’s here!” She whispered-yelled and rushed to put on some lip gloss.
Heejin didn’t want her mom to open door because then she’ll embarrass her in front of Hyunjin. So she grabbed her purse and flew down the stairs.
But, her mom had already opened the door.
“Look who it is, Heejinie! Its Hyunjin! Are you girls going out?” Her mom asked as Hyunjin was standing outside awkwardly.
They smile at each other “Yes mom, we’re going out so if you’ll excuse us” The older says and steps out.
“Okay but don’t stay out too late. Take care of my daughter, Hyunjin!” She yells to the sophomores as they walk away.
Hyunjin turns around with a smile “Of course, Mrs. Jeon!” she yells back to her and she closes the door.
Hyunjin faces Heejin who had a small blush on her cheeks. The older smiles at her.
“So, where are we going to eat?” Heejin asked the taller. She sees a car on the side of the street and Hyunjin motions for her to follow her.
Hyunjin opens the passenger door for the older to get in. She gets in with a small smile then the taller walks around to get in the drivers side.
“We are going to eat at this small yet cute diner that I used to eat at when I was younger. If thats okay with you?”
Hyunjin asked her as they buckle up.
“Anywhere is fine with you but who’s car is this? I thought you didn’t know how to drive?” Heejin asked confusedly.
She thought that out of their friends who knew how to drive were the seniors. Vivi knew how to drive but she just doesn’t have a car. So she was confused to see Hyunjin with a car.
“This is my dad’s car, he let me borrow it when I told him I was taking you out on a date. He taught me how to drive last year but I have to wait to get my license and a car”
Hyunjin explained as she drove off to the diner. Heejin just nodded as they fell into a comfortable silence. The radio was softly playing in the back.
They didn’t mind the silence since they’d rather talk at the diner. Hyunjin just hoped that Heejin would have fun on this date.
Pulling into a parking space, Hyunjin turns off the car before getting out to open Heejin’s door. She gets out and thanks her.
“It does look cute” Heejin says as she looks around the outside of the diner.
“Wait till you see the inside” Hyunjin hold open the door for Heejin to walk in.
Walking in, the aroma of fresh coffee and pancakes invaded their noses. Heejin stares in awe at the diner.
The diner looked like one of those old retro ’60s diners. The flooring tiles were black and white while the booths and chairs were bright red.
There were neon lights on the walls and the ceiling. And, there was also a jukebox in the back of the diner.
“Wow it is really cute. I love the retro aesthetic it gives off” Heejin tells the younger as they walk to a booth.
Sitting down, a waitress approaches them and hands them the menus. She had on a pink and white dress uniform and a apron.
“Hi welcome to Freddy’s, what can I get you girls to drink?” She asked cheerfully.
The sophomores greet her back before telling her their drinks.
“Can I get a glass of water?”
“Give me a glass of orange juice please?”
The waitress nods before walking off to grab their beverages. Heejin looks down and scans the menu.
There were so many good choices since they sold all three meals of the day. But since its lunch time, she wanted something light.
“I’m probably gonna get the chicken club sandwich. What about you, Hyun?”
Heejin asks as she looks up expecting Hyunjin to be looking at the menu but she was shocked to see her staring at her.
The older blushes “Uh is there something on my face?” She asks her.
Hyunjin smiles at her “Yea, beauty” She answers casually and the shorter starts to blush even more. The taller chuckles at her reaction.
“Stop! Why are you like this? I asked you what you’re going to order” Heejin tells her after calming her heart.
“I’m going to get the double burger with a croissant on the side”
The younger tells her as the waitress comes back with their beverages. She sets them down then takes out her notepad.
“Are you girls ready to order?” She asks and they nod. Hyunjin gestures for Heejin to go first.
“Can I have the chicken club sandwich please?”
“And can I get double burger and a croissant please?”
The waitress nods as she finishes writing down their order. She grabs the menus then walks away.
They sat there talking about school and what’s going on with the other couples in their group. It was comfortable being in each others presence.
The food came out ten minutes later and they started eating. It was quiet at first but then they started talking about their regular lives.
Hyunjin looked up and noticed that Heejin had a little bit of sauce on the corner of her mouth.
“Hey Heekie you have a little bit of sauce. Let me get it for you” She tells her before reaching over the table.
Heejin was frozen feeling the taller’s thumb swipe the sauce against her lip. Her heart starts beating quick and then she blushes hard when Hyunjin licks her thumb.
“Got it” She smiles at the older and also blushes a little. They continue eating in silence and finish up a few minutes later.
The waitress comes by with their check and places it on the table before taking their dirty plates away.
“I can pay since you drove us here” Heejin tried to pull out her wallet from her purse but Hyunjin just waves her off.
“No I’m paying. I asked you out so its fine for me to pay” She smiles at the older.
Heejin smiles back at her. The waitress comes back and Hyunjin hands her the money with the check.
They wait for the waitress to bring back her change. After she walks back, they thank her and leave the diner.
Hyunjin held open the door for Heejin to get into the car. She gets in to pull out of the parking lot.
“So, how’d you like the food there? Is it good enough to come back?” Hyunjin asks while keeping her eyes on the road.
Heejin looks at her from looking at the window “It was really good to be honest. And the aesthetic made it feel like we were back in time. We can come back and bring the girls with us”
The older suggests and Hyunjin nods as she nears the next place for their date. The sun wasn’t that bright making it a good day to walk.
Hyunjin pulls into a spot to quickly park. The taller opens the door for Heejin to get out. Locking the car, they head to the trail where people can walk around.
The river was calm as the ripples weren’t as big as usual. There were other couples walking around as well since it was a good day to go out.
They weren’t talking, just walking side by side. Although Hyunjin wanted to talk, she decided to hold off and take in the silence.
Heejin felt something brush onto her hand. She looks down and notices the younger’s hand wanting to hold her hand.
She looks up to see Hyunjin looking forward but there was a small tint of red on her cheeks.
“You know, if you wanted to hold my hand, you can just grab it” Heejin tells the taller.
Hyunjin chuckles and blushes more. Heejin giggles and holds the younger’s bigger hands.
“I didn’t know if you wanted to hold hands” The taller says as she interlaced their fingers.
“I’m fine, you can hold my hands whenever you want as long as I can hold yours” Heejin says looking into her eyes.
“Deal” Hyunjin finishes and gives her hand a small squeeze. Heejin shyly smiles at her before they continue walking.
As they walked with their hands swinging, Heejin spotted a couple who look awfully familiar.
“Hey Hyun, isn’t that Haseul and Vivi unnie?” She asks the taller and discreetly points towards them.
Hyunjin looks to where she was pointing at. Heejin was right, sitting under a tree were the two seniors, Haseul and Vivi.
They were having a picnic and didn’t noticed the two sophomores watching them.
“Aww they look so cute! Come on lets leave them alone, looks like they’re on a date”
Heejin pulls Hyunjin’s arm so they can walk away. The taller follows her to continue walking.
Seeing a bench, Hyunjin motions for Heejin to take a seat. They sit down and stare out into the water. It was calm and peaceful as Heejin laid her head on Hyunjin’s shoulder.
The younger looks at her and wraps her arm around the older’s shoulders. It makes Heejin cuddle more into Hyunjin’s body.
“Who knew that a whole baseball game would bring us together?” Hyunjin whispers as she stares at the water.
Heejin hums as she cuddles up against the taller. Both of them were content that a baseball game made them meet each other.
They’ve liked each other since the first meeting and are glad that they can see how their relationship develops.
They sat in silence listening to the wind hit against the trees. The sound of a phone going off shakes them out of their trance.
Hyunjin looks at Heejin to see if she was asleep but the older was looking into the water.
“Do I need to take you home now?” She asks and it makes Heejin get up to pull her phone out of her pocket.
Hyunjin unwraps her arm from the older and watches her. Heejin sighs and looks up to the younger.
“Yea, my mom just texted me that dad came back from his business trip and wants us to have a family dinner. Sorry”
Heejin says as she looks down. Hyunjin frowns seeing her sad so she tucks a strand of hair behind her ear.
“Its fine, family comes first. Let’s go before your mom gets mad at me for not taking you home on time” Hyunjin chuckles as they get up.
Heejin laughs and latches onto the taller’s arm “She won’t get mad at you, trust me. I’ll make sure” They walked off to the car.
Hyunjin hopes that Heejin liked their first date. She wanted to have more dates with her but didn’t know if she wanted to have more dates with her.
The younger opens the door for the older as she gets in. She walks around the car and gets in as well.
They buckle up and then Hyunjin drives off to drop Heejin off.
“So, did you enjoy our first date? It wasn’t too boring right?” The taller asks nervously.
Heejin looks at her “Of course I liked it Hyun. Even if we didn’t do anything, I would still like it because I’m with you” She tells the younger with a smile.
Hyunjin blushes a little and clears her throat. The drive continues on in silence and the radio was playing softly.
Pulling up on to the side, Hyunjin gets out first to open Heejin’s door. She gets out and they walk up to the front door.
Stopping, Heejin turns to face the taller. She didn’t want to leave her but she’s been wanting to see her dad for a week already.
“Sorry we couldn’t hang out a little while longer. Its just we haven’t seen my dad for week so my mom always does this whenever he goes on a business trip”
Heejin tells her with a semi frown on her face but Hyunjin just shakes her head.
“Its alright, you don’t have to apologize. Your mom wants to eat as a family so I understand that. I’ll see you on Monday okay?”
Heejin nods and the taller opens her arms for Heejin to hug her. Wrapping her arms around the older’s shoulders, Hyunjin gave a small kiss on top of her head.
Heejin blushes and nuzzles her head more into the younger’s neck. They let go of the hug after a few seconds.
“Bye Hyun, I’ll see you on Monday” Heejin says as she steps back.
Hyunjin nods “Yea I’ll see you later. Bye Heekie” She steps back to walk off but Heejin stops her.
The younger looks at her with a curious expression but Heejin just steps forward and pressed their lips together. Hyunjin was shocked but then closed her eyes and kissed her back.
It was short as Heejin pulls away with red cheeks. She didn’t where that boldness came from. Hyunjin also had red cheeks but smirks.
“Wow, I didn’t know you were bold enough to actually do something like that”
Heejin playfully pushes her shoulder as she blushes hard. Their hearts were beating out of their chests.
“That was nice. I’ll let you go have fun with your family. I’ll see you later Heekie” Hyunjin tells her as she walks backwards.
Heejin shyly smiles at as she walks up to her front door. She opens it a little then looks back at the younger.
“I’ll see you, Hyun” She waves one last time to the taller before she walks in to her house.
Hyunjin waves back at her with a small smile. Then, Heejin closes the door and the taller walks back to the car.
Hyunjin gets in and drives off to her house. She had a wide smile on her face as she felt happy about today.
Heejin was also feeling exceptional as she had a big smile on her face. Her mom looked at her and smiles as well. She felt happy for her daughter.
They were both content with their first date and can’t wait to see how thief relationship develops later on.
