The sun shines brightly in the blue sky as Hyejoo finishes getting ready. She had her first date today with Chaewon and felt excited.
Hyejoo never thought she would be going on a date. She doesn’t like having crushes and going on dates but when she met Chaewon, it was like its meant to be.
The freshman wore a gray tank top under a red flannel and jean shorts. She told Chaewon to dress casual since they were going to an arcade.
Hyejoo walked into her living room to put on her shoes. Her older sister sat on the couch watching tv with her girlfriend.
They noticed Hyejoo walk in and stared at her. The freshman was too busy with her shoes to notice them staring.
Raising her head, she sees two pair of eyes on her. Hyejoo rolls her eyes when they give her a teasing smile.
“I don’t wanna hear shit from y’all. Now of you’ll excuse me, I need to go” The freshman says as she opens the door.
Her sister laughs “C’mon Joo, at least tell us where you’re taking Chaewon” She says.
“Yea we wanna see if you’re girlfriend material” Her girlfriend says and laughs as well.
Hyejoo sighs and turns to look at them “I’m taking her to get something to eat then we’re going to the arcade” She tells them.
They hum and look at each other. Her sister looks back at her “Where are y’all eating at?” She asks with curiosity.
“We decided to walk around town first to see what there is to eat. I know what to do on a date, don’t worry” She tells them knowing they think she doesn’t know what to do on a date.
“We’re just asking in case you want some advice” Her sister’s girlfriend says with a small smile.
Hyejoo nods “Well thanks but I’m fine. Now I need to go pick up Chaewon before she starts asking where I’m at. I’ll see you Mina and Momo unnie!” She says as she exits the house.
“Bye Joo! Take care of Chaewon!”
“Later Hyejoo!”
She hears them yell as she closes the door. Hyejoo walks away from her house and heads down the street to go to Chaewon’s house.
As the freshman was on her way, Chaewon had already finished up getting ready. She wore a bright green shirt that had a pink pineapple on it. It was tucked into some jean shorts and had a apple hair style.
She was waiting for Hyejoo to arrive as she sat on her bed. The sophomore sat playing on her phone as she was home alone right now. Her parents were at a relative’s house with her siblings.
Chaewon felt eager to go on this date already. She couldn’t wait to see how Hyejoo would be knowing the younger isn’t a soft person.
As she thinks about the date, the doorbell rings startling her. Getting up, she grabs her purse and goes to open the door.
Opening it, Hyejoo stands there looking nervous yet has a smile on her face.
“Hey Chaewon unnie. Are you ready?” She asks the older.
The older smiles and nods “Yup. You look really good by the way” She tells the younger and closes the door.
Hyejoo becomes a little flustered “Thanks, you look cute with your hair like that” And now Chaewon is flustered.
“Thanks” She whispers and they walk away towards the city. Chaewon didn’t live that far from where they were going.
It was nice day, not too hot but the weather still made people wear lighter clothing. They were walking side by side and chatted.
“I heard that Yeojin is taking out Yerim to the arcade as well. What are the odds we run into them?” Chaewon tells the younger.
Hyejoo remembers the text she received from the youngest saying they were going to arcade. She texted her saying to meet up and walk around after dark.
“Oh yea Yeojin texted me saying that. I doubt we’ll run into them because they’re going to the arcade first then go out to eat”
Chaewon hums and nods “So where are we eating at?” She asks Hyejoo.
“I don’t know but where do you wanna go? I’ll eat anything”
Chaewon thinks about what to eat. There were too many good places and couldn’t decide.
“Should we go eat some fried chicken?” She asks with big eyes.
“Sure I’m down for some chicken” Hyejoo says and feels her heart skip a beat when she looked into her eyes.
They were now in the area where mostly everything was. Looking around, Chaewon found a fried chicken restaurant on the corner.
The two students walked to the restaurant as Hyejoo held opened the door for Chaewon. Heading inside, a hostess greets them and goes to sit them down.
The restaurant had a comfortable vibe to it as the lights were dimmed a little. It had a velvet look to it which made it somewhat romantic.
The two sat down and looked at the menu while waiting for the waiter or waitress. They scanned the menu with curious eyes seeing that everything looked good.
“Which sauce are you getting on your chicken?” Hyejoo asks the older as she looks up from her menu.
Chaewon looks up also “I’m getting the spicy parmesan. And you?” She meets her eyes.
“I’ll probably get the one with their signature sauce since it looks good” She answers the sophomore.
Nodding, Chaewon looks back at the menu as the waiter comes by. He had on a black button up shirt with a white short apron and he looked young.
“Hi my name is Jongin and I’ll be your server for today? What are you girls going to be drinking?” He asks politely with a smile.
They nod and smile at him before telling him their beverages. He nods and walks away to get them.
“So I never had the chance to ask but are you okay with what happened in the gym? I know its late but I wanted to ask personally if your bruise is gone”
Chaewon asks the younger with a curious expression. She never had the chance to ask her because they were never alone. She felt sad when Hyejoo talked about them being beat up.
Hyejoo was confused at first but then figures out what she’s talking about. She nods and gives her a small smile.
“I’m fine and the bruise is already gone. I put some medicine on it for it to go away faster” She answers with calm.
The sophomore nods but wasn’t convinced yet.
“Its great that you’re fine but I mean, how upset were you seeing the other girls get hurt?” She asks with a soft voice.
As Hyejoo was about to answer, Jongin comes back with their drinks. He sets them down and smiles.
“Are you girls ready to order?” He asks and they nod.
They tell him their orders before handing him the menus. He takes them and walks away for the girls to continue talking.
Chaewon looks at Hyejoo expectantly to see what she answers.
“I was really angry seeing them get hurt. It hurt me more when I saw Yeojin get hurt and thrown to the ground. She’s like a little sister to me along with Yerim but I just have this feeling where I need to protect Yeojin. And when Jinsoul unnie was hit worse than us, I wanted to kill Jinhyuk right then and there. I didn’t care about me being hurt because all I wanted to protect them”
Hyejoo answers honestly with a small frown. The memories of that day came back to her and she hated it. She had vowed to protect all of them if they were ever hurt, even if she was younger.
Chaewon felt tears pooling in her eyes but blinked them away. Her heart swelled with a feeling she couldn’t understand. Her feelings for the younger just grew stronger from hearing what she said.
“Wow Hyejoo I didn’t know you felt that way. I’m sorry that happened to you guys but please remember that you got hurt too. It hurt me when I heard that you were kicked and had a ugly bruise. I love that you would do anything for them as well as the other girls”
Chaewon tells the younger who stares at her with a cute expression. Her eyebrows were furrowed and it made her look like a maltese.
“I promise to protect all of y’all but hopefully it isn’t to the extent of me or one of us getting hurt” Hyejoo says and smiles widely.
Chaewon smiles back as well ignoring her heart skipping a beat or two. They continue talking till Jongin walks up to them with their food.
Thanking him, they dig in almost immediately as he leaves. The chicken tasted really good as their plates were mostly wiped clean when they finished.
The two didn’t talk a lot while eating since they were hungry. Once finished, the older talked to the younger about a game she plays on the computer.
Jongin came back with their check and watched them fight for it. Hyejoo took out her wallet to pull out some cash and hands it to him.
“I could’ve paid for it Joo” Chaewon tells the younger once Jongin left.
Hyejoo shakes her head “I asked you out so that means that I pay, alright?” She says with a smile.
The older sighs and reluctantly agrees. When Jongin comes back with her change, he bids them goodbye.
They thank him before getting up and walking out of the restaurant with Hyejoo holding the door for Chaewon.
The arcade was down the street, it was the same one where the other two went. They walked towards the arcade seeing other kids go in and out from there.
The door is pushed open by a young guy walking out and he holds the door for them. Chaewon enters first then Hyejoo as they thank him.
Random game noises and talking were heard as they stepped in. It was a little dark but it made the aesthetic much more cooler with some lights glowing.
“What do you wanna do first?” Hyejoo asks the older.
Chaewon looks around and spots something towards the back of the arcade.
She points to it “Ooh let’s go bowling first then we can play the other games. Is that fine?” She asks with wide eyes.
Hyejoo smiles “Yea sure thats fine with me” Her cheeks were a little red due to the older looking at her sweetly.
They walk towards the counter where the bowling shoes were at. A girl greets them and asks if they’re bowling.
Chaewon decides to pay for them since Hyejoo paid for their food. They tell the girl their shoe size and she hands them the correct shoes.
They thank her and walk to an open lane. Chaewon sits down to put on the bowling shoes as Hyejoo walks up to the screen. She enters their names onto it then goes to put on the shoes.
The older looks up to the screen to their names and gets up to grab a bowling ball. Hyejoo finishes up and also goes to grab a ball.
“Should we make a bet?” Asks Chaewon.
“Sure, what do you have in mind?” Hyejoo asks the older.
The sophomore thinks “Loser has to but lunch for everyone on Monday?”
“Ight bet let’s go!” Hyejoo yells as Chaewon starts off first.
The older takes the ball and stares at the pins. She then winds up and sends the boll rolling down the lane. They watch as only two pins fall.
Hyejoo snickers a little seeing only two pins fall and the sophomore sighs. She turns and playfully glares at the freshman before grabbing another ball.
Doing the same thing, they watch as three more pins fall. Chaewon looks at the screen and sits down.
Hyejoo stands up and walks up to grab a ball. She gets closer to the lane and literally throws the ball. It makes a loud noise and rolls down the lane.
Chaewon jumps a little and busts out laughing hard. The ball manages to knock down five pins and Hyejoo jumps up.
“Ha! I got five pins!” She yells and looks at the older who is holding her stomach from laughing too hard.
Chaewon wipes a tear “What the fuck was that Hyejoo?! You just threw the ball and it knocked down more pins then me!” She yells at the younger.
Hyejoo just shrugs and grabs another ball for her second turn. She throws the ball again but it goes into the gutter this time.
“Ha! I’m in the lead still!” Chaewon sticks out her tongue at the younger. Hyejoo does it as well and goes to sit down.
They continued playing as Chaewon was bowling really well. Hyejoo didn’t care about the game and would rather watch the older have fun. She was in too deep but she didn’t care.
The game finished with Chaewon winning with a score way bigger than Hyejoo’s. She turns to the younger and stands cockily.
“I win and you lose! You have to buy lunch on Monday” Chaewon says with a smirk on her face.
Hyejoo stares at her and smiles “Thats fine with me. I didn’t really care about the game because you were having too much fun” She tells the older.
Chaewon smirks turns into a shy smile as she starts blushing hard. It was Hyejoo’s turn to smirk and the older feels her heart beat erratically.
“W-whatever I still win so thats all that matters. Now let’s go play the other games” Chaewon rushes out as sits down to take off the bowling shoes.
Hyejoo laughs at her reaction and sits down to do the same thing. Their hearts were beating at a quick pace than normal.
The two students grab the shoes and head towards the counter to return the shoes. The same girl takes back the shoes with a smile and they go to play the games.
Hyejoo pulls Chaewon to the skee ball machines. She always loved playing this game when she was younger.
“Do you wanna go first or wanna play side by side?” Hyejoo asks the older as they stand in front of the game.
“Let’s play against each other again” The older tells her and she nods before pulling out some quarters from her pocket.
She gives two quarters to Chaewon and takes two for herself. They insert the coins into the machine as the skee balls slide out of the hole.
They both grab one and roll it onto the surface. The ball rolls up into a hole, one in the 1000 and the other into the 10000.
Hyejoo had made into the 10000 one as she’s a pro at this game. She was having fun playing the game and doesn’t notice Chaewon staring at her with a wide smile.
The sophomore never felt this way for anyone. Not even for Hyunjin, who she had a small crush on when they first met. Hyunjin knew about the crush but stayed close friends anyways.
Chaewon felt really happy right now knowing Hyejoo felt the same for her. As they finished playing with Hyejoo winning, the older wanted to play more games.
The two walked around to play the other games. They were having fun and enjoying themselves as they played against each other.
They both were really competitive when it comes to games but knew how to take a loss. It was like a match made in heaven or they were soulmates.
As the two students had fun, the sun had already set and there weren’t many younger kids. There were more high schoolers since it was getting late.
The two just finished playing Pac Man when Chaewon checked the time on her phone.
Gasping, Hyejoo turns to look at her “Its already 8 o’clock! Time passes by quick when you’re having fun” She tells the younger with a little shock.
“Yea it does. Do you want me to walk you back home now?” She asks but hopes that the older says no because she wants to spend more time with her.
Chaewon sighs “Yea because its already dark and I don’t want you to walk home any later” She says sadly.
They both didn’t want to leave yet since they were having so much fun. But the arcade was going to close in an hour and it was dark outside.
“Alright then, let’s go” Hyejoo says as they begin to walk to the exit. She opens the door for the older and steps out of the arcade.
Chaewon grabs hold of Hyejoo’s hand as they walked. Being bold, the younger interlaced their fingers and turns to look at her. Their hearts were beating simultaneously out of their chests.
The walk back to Chaewon’s house was calm and peaceful. The wind blew lightly as the moon shines brightly on them. It was quiet but they were comfortable with the silence.
Arriving to the house, Chaewon looks in her purse for the house keys. Finding them, she unlocked the door but doesn’t open it yet.
She turns around to face Hyejoo, who stood to the side with her hands in her pockets. The younger looked adorable just standing there with her cheeks puffed out.
Chaewon smiles “Today was really fun and I enjoyed being with you. Thanks for taking me out on our first date” She tells the younger with a small blush on her cheeks.
Hyejoo looks down feeling her cheeks redden hearing that. Looking back up, she gives her a gummy smile.
“I’m glad you had fun. And I also enjoyed being with you. I’ll make sure to take you out on more dates” The younger firmly said.
The older chuckles and wore a blush on her cheeks “I’ll take you up on that offer. But for now, I’ll see you on Monday”
Hyejoo nods “Yea of course. Have a good night Wonie” She says getting ready to leave.
Chaewon stares at her before stepping closer to her. The younger looks confused but her breath hitched when the older tip toes and leans in.
Hyejoo bends down a little to meet her height and the older reaches up to wrap her arms around her shoulders. They both know what’s about to happen as their lips slowly meet.
Its their first kiss and their hearts were literally jumping out of their chests. Their lips slowly move against each other as Hyejoo pulls Chaewon closer to her by the waist.
The older tightens her grip on her shoulders as the kiss becomes more passionate. No one was around them, only the moon as their witness.
Hyejoo grips her waist tightly when she feels Chaewon bite her bottom lip. Chaewon tries to slip her tongue into Hyejoo’s mouth sneakily.
They wanted more but their lungs were screaming for air. Pulling away, Hyejoo stares into the sophomore’s eyes feeling heat rush up to her cheeks.
Chaewon was a little out of breath and looked flustered. Her cheeks were red and her heart beats at an alarming rate.
“Wow…u-um that was hot-I mean amazing!” Hyejoo tries saying but she blushes hard. She didn’t want to seem like a pervert but Chaewon just giggles.
“Its fine Joo, it was hot and amazing. Don’t worry I thought the same thing” She tells her in trying to calm her down.
Hyejoo rubs the back of her neck with a sheepish smile. They stood there before the younger pulls the older into a hug.
Their arms were wrapped around each other as they fit like puzzle pieces. Sure their hearts were pounding against their ribcages but they didn’t care.
The hug lasted a few seconds before Chaewon pulls away. She smiles at her which causes her lips to form a heart.
Hyejoo really liked her smile as she also smiles back showing her gums. It was time for the sophomore to enter her home and for the freshman to go home.
“Goodnight Joo, I had a really great time today. Be careful on your way home and text me when you arrive please”
Chaewon tells the younger as she holds the door knob. Hyejoo nods and steps back a little.
“Goodnight Wonie, I’m glad because I had a great time as well. And I’ll be careful, I promise and I’ll text you. Bye!”
Hyejoo says and walks away before looking back at Chaewon. The older opens the door and steps in.
“Bye!” She yells as she waves at her and then closes the door. Hyejoo waves then walks away when the door shuts.
Both of the students were feeling relieved to know their feelings are getting stronger. And they’re delighted to go on more dates later on.
On the way home, Hyejoo wore a smile as she thinks about their kiss. It was her first yet it was the best one. She pulls out her phone to text Yerim and Yeojin.
The freshman first texts the older, who tells her she is happy for her. Then she texts the younger but doesn’t get a reply back.
She frowns “Is she home yet? Or is she asleep?” Hyejoo whispers to herself.
There was a gut feeling telling her that something bad has happened. She tries to ignore it but decides to call Yeojin.
The line rings but no one answers. She pulls the phone away from her ear and furrows her eyebrows.
They were supposed to meet up after dark but the younger isn’t answering her phone. If Yerim answered her then that should mean she should as well.
She calls her again only for no one to answer again. Hyejoo sighs and thinks about going to her house but she was almost home.
“I’ll see if she’s up later” She says and continues to walk home.
The freshman was going to check out if Yeojin wanted to sneak out later on. If the younger doesn’t answer her that time, then it means something is up.
Hyejoo doesn’t want to think negative as she arrives home. She texted Chaewon saying she was home safe. They bid goodnight to each other as the night grew longer.
Let’s see if Yeojin is willing to answer her phone and sneak out with Hyejoo.
