Mr. and Mrs. Im were holding onto each other as they heard what the doctor told them. They were praying for Yeojin to be alive and well.
Hyejoo didn’t want to cry anymore but with Dr. Lee’s next few words, its like she can’t control her tears at all.
“I’m sorry to say this…..but Yeojin needed surgery for her lungs. It seems that whenever she was hurt, two of her ribs were broken and one managed to puncture her lung. She had some difficulty breathing so we had to do an emergency surgery as she flat lined but we got her back”
Dr. Lee starts off with a grim expression. Mr. Im was just cursing silently at whoever caused this to Yeojin. Mrs. Im let more tears fall freely hearing that Yeojin couldn’t breathe well.
Hyejoo wanted to run and be by Yeojin’s side. She wanted to hold her hand and tell her that it was her fault even though it wasn’t. She just wants to see Yeojin smiling again whenever they’re together.
Dr. Lee continues “One of her other ribs punctured her side which caused for her to bleed there. We fixed both of her ribs and stitched up her side. Her head is also stitched up now but she does have a minor concussion. The surgery was successful as we managed to seal the wound on her lung. Her breathing right now is a little unsteady but it will go back to normal by tomorrow” He finished with a smile.
Yeojin’s parents sighed in relief as they heard the doctor say Yeojin is going to be fine. They knew their daughter was a strong girl and would be able to push through this.
Hyejoo feels her cheeks get wet from her tears as they fall freely. She was crying because her best friend was going to be okay. She was so happy to hear that as she felt a smile form on her face.
Mr. Im looks at the doctor “When will we be able to see her?” He asks eagerly.
Dr. Lee looks down at the clipboard in his hand “You guys can see her now. Her room number is 426 upstairs” He tells them with a small smile.
They thank him before he excused himself to check on other patients. They walk up to the elevator and wait for the doors to open.
Entering the elevator, Hyejoo could not stop hiding her smile. She was relieved to hear that Yeojin was going to be okay. The parents saw this and smiled as well.
The elevator stopped on the fourth floor as they stepped out and walked down the hallway. It wasn’t till they saw her room number that they started to feel anxious again.
They didn’t want to see Yeojin lying in bed with wires going in and out of her small body. Yeojin was someone that you wouldn’t see sad because she was always well in hiding her emotions.
Mr. Im holds the door open for his wife and Hyejoo to step in first. Mrs. Im walks in and gasps seeing her daughter.
“Oh my poor Yeojinie. Why would someone hurt you?” She cries as she moves up to hold Yeojin’s hand.
Yeojin was lying on the bed with machines surrounding her. There were wires connected to her body as she had on a oxygen mask to help her breathe. Her head had a bandage wrapped around it.
Hyejoo closes her eyes hoping that its just a dream and when she opens her eyes, everything will be back to normal. She opens them and just sighs sadly as Yeojin was still lying on the bed.
Mr. Im stares at Yeojin with a small frown. Why would anyone want to hurt her? She’s a sweet person who puts everyone before herself. He grits his teeth as he silently tells himself that he’s going to find whoever did this and kill them.
Hyejoo walks to the other side of the bed and hesitantly grabs Yeojin’s hand. It felt cold but she knew how to warm her up. She looks at her face and feels her heart break.
“I’m sorry I couldn’t protect you. I broke my promise and I’m so sorry. Please don’t hate me when you wake up” Hyejoo cries out as she lays her head on the bed.
The guilt was washing all over body as she knelt down in her spot. Her sobbing hurt the adults in the room as they stared at her with frowns.
Mr. Im walks up to her and slowly pulls her up. Hyejoo just throws herself into his arms and cries harder. He just wraps his arms around her and looks towards his wife.
Mrs. Im watches her husband comfort Hyejoo. She knows how much she loves Yeojin, they have strong bond that nobody can break. It hurts her, as a mother, to watch Hyejoo sob her heart out.
“She’s going to wake up and be happy that you’re by her side. She is not going to hate you because this wasn’t your fault. You did not break your promise, trust me” Mr. Im softly speaks to Hyejoo.
Hyejoo stops crying a little and sniffs. She gives a small nod as he finished speaking. The freshman knew that she didn’t cause this but it hurts her to see that she couldn’t do anything to stop it.
Mr. Im let’s go of Hyejoo and pulls up a chair for her to sit on next to Yeojin. Sitting down, she holds onto her hand tightly and stares at her.
The sun was seen peeking through the clouds as the light shines into the room. Mr. Im looks at his watch and sees its already 6 a.m. He stares at his daughter then to his wife and to Hyejoo.
He sees how tired they are since they were woken up earlier and haven’t slept since.
“Its already 6 so I’m going home to pick up some clothes for us and Yeojinie. I’ll also pick up some breakfast on the way back” He tells them as he gets ready to leave.
Mrs. Im turns to look at him and nods “Alright thats fine. Hyejoo do need some clothes or are you fine with that?” She asks the young girl.
“I’m fine with this auntie” She tells them with a small smile.
Mr. Im nods “Okay I’ll be going then. Call me if she wakes up please” He looks at his wife with pleading eyes.
“Of course I will, honey” She tells him and goes to hug him. He smiles at them and leaves the room.
It became silent as the only noise heard were the machines connected to Yeojin. Mrs. Im was sitting back in her chair watching Yeojin sleep.
Hyejoo just stares down at their hands. Her grip was tight as she was afraid that if she let’s go, then Yeojin would disappear.
She notices the sunlight peeking through the window and shining against Yeojin’s face. Hyejoo then thinks about she’s going to deliver the news to the other girls.
She didn’t want to be the bearer of bad news but she also didn’t want them to be left in the dark. Sighing, she pulls out phone from her pocket.
Hyejoo opens their group chat and starts typing a message with one hand. She didn’t want to let go of Yeojin just yet. Her hand was shaking a little but she manages to send the news.
Now they wait, hopefully Yerim doesn’t feel guilty as well because Hyejoo knew that Yeojin walked back home alone after their date.

*The Girls’ Reactions To Hyejoo’s Message*
It was around 10 in the morning when Hyunjin woke up. She hated waking up early on Sundays but its like her body is used to waking up early.
Getting out of bed, she heads to the bathroom to wash up. Hyunjin felt eager to see Heejin already due to yesterday.
Her feelings for Heejin grew stronger overnight as she fell asleep thinking about her.
Hyunjin gets ready for the day and walks downstairs to the kitchen. She finds Hyungwon watching tv on the sofa and her dad nowhere to be seen.
“Hey Hyung, where’s dad?” She asks her brother as she gets out a bowl.
Hyungwon turns his head “He went to the hardware store to pick up some stuff for the garage” He says and resumes watching tv.
Hyunjin hums and fills her bowl with cereal and milk. She sits down at the table and starts eating. She wonders how Heejin’s morning is going.
A few minutes later, Hyunjin finished her bowl of cereal and goes to wash the dishes. Once she finishes, she pulls out her phone to check any notifications and sees one from Hyejoo in the group chat.
Hyunjin opens it up and reads the message. She gasps and furrows her eyebrows.
“What the fuck?!” She yells and Hyungwon turns to look at her.
“What?” He asks and before she answers, the doorbell rings continuously.

Around 9:30 in the morning, Heejin was already up for the day because she went grocery shopping with her mom. They got back home at 10 and unloaded the groceries.
Heejin was currently lying down on her bed while on her laptop. Her mind kept going back to hers and Hyunjin’s date.
It was one of the best days of her life. She knew she was exaggerating but the way Hyunjin treated her made her feel a lot of things that she loves.
As Heejin kept typing away on her laptop, she checks her phone. She hasn’t checked her phone even after she’s woken up because her mom rushed her to get ready.
The sophomore sees a message from Hyejoo in the group chat and checks it out. She feels her heart break at what she sent and almost starts crying.
“What? Yeojin’s in the hospital?” She whispers to herself.
Heejin jumps a little as the doorbell rings loudly through out the house.

The clock strikes 10 as Vivi woke up. She got out of bed sluggishly and headed towards the bathroom. She took a quick shower before putting on some comfortable clothes.
She had nothing to do today so why not just lounge around home. The senior went into the kitchen to see what her mom made for breakfast.
Her mother stood over the stove as she cooked and looked over to Vivi. She gave her a small smile.
“Good morning, mom” The senior greets as she opens the fridge.
Her mother hums “Good morning sweetie. How’d you sleep?” She asks her.
Vivi poured herself a glass of orange juice “I slept well. What are you making?” She sat down at the table.
“I’m making some scrambled eggs to make a sandwich. You want one?” Her mom asks her as she continues cooking.
“Yes please” Vivi says and sits back in her chair. She left her phone upstairs to spend time with her family.
She promised to shoot Haseul a text later on knowing that the younger wakes up late on Sundays. Her mom finished cooking and served them just as Vivi’s dad, younger and younger brother sister walk in.
They greet each other a ‘good morning’ and sit down at the dining table. The Wong family ate their breakfast calm and peaceful.
After finishing, the family went to do their own thing. Vivi went back to her room to grab her phone and came back to sit down on the sofa.
She opens the message app when she’s two notifications. She texts back to Haseul who told her ‘good morning’ and then reads Hyejoo message sent into the group chat.
Vivi reads the message and quickly frowns. She stands up urgently and stares at her phone. Her younger brother, who sat next to her, looks up at her confusedly.
“What’s wrong Kahei?” He asks and she just swallows shakily. Turning around to answer him, the doorbell rings loudly.

Jiwoo had gotten up early to have breakfast with Jungeun. The two juniors wanted to talk about their dates they had.
It was around exactly 10 when a knock is heard on her door. She goes to open it and sees her best friend on the other side.
“Hey Jungie!” Jiwoo greets loudly and gestures for her to come in. Jungeun just smiles at her and steps inside.
“Hi Wooming!” She says and hugs her best friend before they head to the kitchen.
Jiwoo’s family was waiting for Jungeun to arrive to eat. The older greets them as she sits down and they all begin eating. Jiwoo’s parents asked them about how their dates went.
The two juniors happily talked about how Sooyoung and Jinsoul treated them. Mr. and Mrs. Kim were delighted to hear their daughter and her best friend enjoy their dates.
When everyone finished eating, the two students offered to wash dishes but Mrs. Kim told them its fine. So they went to Jiwoo’s room to hang out.
As they laid down on her bed, Jungeun pulls out her phone to show the pictures her and Jinsoul took at the amusement park.
But as she goes to her gallery, she sees a unread message from Hyejoo. She taps on it and reads the message.
“Oh my god!” She yells and sits up quickly. Jiwoo looks over to her in shock and sits up also.
“What’s wrong Jungie?!” She asks with her eyes wide. Jungeun shows her the message feeling herself choke up.
Jiwoo’s eyes suddenly get teary after reading the message. She looks up at Jungeun and tries to say something but the doorbell ringing interrupts her.

The sophomore wakes up feeling hungry. Her stomach was crying for some food so she gets out of bed and washes up.
Chaewon puts on some comfortable clothes and heads into the kitchen. Her mom had left her some breakfast as she and her dad went to the store.
The sophomore just shrugs and takes her breakfast into the living room. She sits down on the sofa and places her food on the coffee table.
Turning on the tv, Chaewon switches the channel to watch some Powerpuff Girls. She happily eats her breakfast and sits back to watch her favorite show.
She finished her breakfast and goes to wash the dishes. After she’s done, she heads back to watch some more tv.
Chaewon grabs her phone to send Hyejoo a quick ‘good morning’ text. Seeing an unread message from her in the group chat, she clicked it.
“Oh my god! Yeojinie?!” She yells once finished reading the message. Didn’t she just have a date with Yerim yesterday?
“Please say sike right now” She whispers to herself. Chaewon goes to turn off the tv and hears her doorbell go off a few times.

The class president woke up around 10:30 to an empty house. Her parents went to work as her siblings went out. Haseul had washed up before heading to the living room.
She plops herself onto the couch and turns on the tv. Haseul didn’t feel like doing anything today and just wanted to stay home.
She watched tv for about ten minutes when she started to feel bored. Picking up her phone, she checks out any unread messages.
Haseul clicks on the group chat to see Hyejoo had sent them something. She reads it and feels her heart break.
“No, please say sike” She shakily says before quickly getting up to put on her shoes. Haseul wasn’t thinking straight as she just grabs her keys and leaves the house to go pick up Vivi and Heejin.

Music was heard being played as Sooyoung was cleaning her room. She had just woken up and saw that she needed to clean her room.
The senior was moving her dirty laundry into a basket. She took that basket to the laundry room and washed her clothes.
Sooyoung walked back to her room and continued cleaning. About ten minutes later, she finished up and turned off the music.
She laid down on her bed and grabbed her phone. The senior reads some messages from her friends before reading Hyejoo’s.
Sooyoung jumps out of her bed immediately after she read the message. Her hands were shaking a little but she ignores it and runs out of her room.
She hurriedly puts on her shoes and grabs her car keys. Her hands were still trembling as she gets into her car to go pick up Jiwoo, Jungeun and Yerim.

A blue haired girl was still sleeping in her bed before a brunette walks into her room and jumps onto her bed.
“Wake up lil sis! Its time for you to get up!” She yells as she keeps jumping up and down on the bed.
The blue haired girl stirs and opens her eyes to see her sister jumping. She scoffs and tries to push her off.
“Get off Krys! I’m trying to sleep!” Jinsoul yells at her and tackles her to the floor. They were wrestling around on the carpet as Krystal had Jinsoul in a chokehold with her arms.
Jinsoul struggled to get out of her grasp as she taps out. Krystal doesn’t let her go and just holds on tighter.
“Let me go!” Jinsoul wheezes out but Krystal just laughs at her.
“Nope!” She yells and watches as Jinsoul tries to breathe in some air. It wasn’t until a few seconds later that Krystal let’s go of her when she sees Jinsoul almost pass out.
Jinsoul sucks in some air as she lays on the floor. It felt like fighting Yeojin all over again. Krystal stands up with a smirk and heads out the room.
“Come eat breakfast!” She says as she closes the door. Jinsoul shakes her head and stands up to go wash up.
The senior comes back into her room and grabs her phone to text Jungeun. As she texts her, she checks out the message Hyejoo sent to the group chat.
“What?!” She yelled as she runs out of her room. She flies down the hallway and puts on her shoes by the door.
Her sisters were staring at her with confused expressions. They watched as Jinsoul trips on her own feet as she tried to put on her shoes.
“Fuck, I can’t get this shoe on!” She yells and gets up to put on her shoe. When the shoe doesn’t slip on, Jinsoul just picks it up and grabs her car keys.
“I got to go!” She yells and runs out of the house with only one shoe on. She gets into her car and puts the shoe in her hand in the passenger seat. Jinsoul quickly pulls out to go pick up Hyunjin and Chaewon.

Yerim was watching tv in her living room as her parents were still working. She felt lonely again since her parents were barely home.
She wanted to invite the over but probably thought they wanted to spend time with their families.
The freshman had already ate breakfast when she woke up. Yerim had turned on Paw Patrol to watch for a little bit.
She thought back to her date with Yeojin yesterday and smiles brightly. She can’t wait for them to go on more dates later on.
“I should invite Hyejoo and Yeojin over” She says and grabs her phone. She opens up the message app and goes to text them.
But sees a unread message from Hyejoo in the group chat. Clicking on it, she read it with a smile but the her smile drops.
Yerim reread the message a few times as she didn’t believe what Hyejoo sent. She felt her heart drop as she finished reading.
“No. Its not true, its just Hyejoo playing a prank right?” She asks herself and shakily laughs about it.
She doesn’t want to admit it but the message seemed too real. There were tears threatening to fall as she stands up.
Yerim paced around with a frown until the doorbell rings. She runs up to the door and opens it.
There stood Sooyoung, Jiwoo and Jungeun with gloomy expressions. Yerim stares at them and finally admits to herself that Hyejoo isn’t playing.
“U-unnie its not t-true right?” Yerim asks them with tears ready to fall out. They just stare at her and sigh.
“Yerimie, its true and we have to go to the hospital. Everyone is already on their way” Sooyoung tells her softly and Yerim just bursts into tears.
Jungeun moves forward and pulls the younger into a hug. She cries into her chest as Jiwoo and Sooyoung stare at her sadly.
“Come on Yerimie, let’s go see Yeojin” Jungeun whispers to her. Yerim was still crying as she’s pulled into the car by the junior. Sooyoung closes the front door and gets into her car.
Their hearts sank for the younger. Yerim just had her date with Yeojin and now she ends up in the hospital. Something is going on and they don’t like it.
