Royal’s POV

⚠️Use of Gay Slur⚠️

I don’t know why, but when Cash kissed me I didn’t push him away. I didn’t want to push him away. Instead I opened my mouth and let him invade it. That was until Jo started to call out our names walking towards us and we hastily got as far away from each as we could without being suspicious.

“Mom, Dad, Aunty, and Uncle,” she started eyeing us both weirdly, “wanted you to join the party again.”

With that we all walked back together. I swung my arm against Jo’s shoulder to make sure they stayed in between Cash and I. Luckily they didn’t sense anything was off.

“We didn’t want to start eating with you guys,” Irene and Luke seemed much nicer than Cash’s parents and even though I was terrified of my dad I was glad they were moving closer. “Look, I know my that my family doesn’t get along with your parents, but I do hope that it doesn’t affect anything,” I loved them.

“I don’t see why it would.”

“So, Royal, now that we know you’re a vegetarian we have some none meat options for you…” my phone rang for the second time.

“Who is it now?” I grabbed my phone out of my pocket, “ugh. It’s just my father,” I declined his call and put the phone on the table.

“You could’ve answered he might be worried,” ha, Luke, you are a new type of father.

“My dad couldn’t care less about me. When I started coming home and had tattoos and piercings he didn’t give a damn. When I was gone for the entire weekend without telling anyone he was mad when I came home. Instead of it being about me being gone he was mad I missed an important business dinner. WHICH he was planning to offer me up to his partners kid. My dad doesn’t care about me he cares about himself that is all,” almost on cue my phone rang again.

I rolled my eyes and hung up again, “I’m so sorry for that happening.”

“Look, Irene,” still felt uncomfortable, but she had said she didn’t want to be called Mrs. multiple times so I will respect that, “my parents aren’t the type to care. I’ve accepted that a long time ago. The freedom is nice and at the end of the day I have a roof, some food, and a big bank account. What else do you need?”

“Royal…” my phone.

“I’m sorry. I’m just going to get this,” I finally answered my phone, “what? Speak quickly you’re ten seconds from getting blocked.”

“Don’t speak to me like that I am your father.”

“I will treat you like my father when you start acting like one. Now, what do you want?”

“Your sister, Haley, brought over this girl. I think her name was… Lily,” shit, Haley, why, “I’ve gotten a weird feel about their relationship. Do you think you can keep out an eye for anything… weird.”

“Define. Weird.”

“I need to find out if your sister is,” his voice suddenly lowered to a sister, “gay.”

“Let me get this straight,” I leaned forward placing my arm and elbow on the table, “you want me to SPY on my LITTLE sister to find out if she’s a fucking FAGGOT!” For some reason everyone started to look at me like I killed their favorite pet. Jo looked… betrayed. I’ll deal with that later, “look, Dad, I couldn’t care less whether my BABY sister, YOUR daughter, sucked dick or ate pussy. What I do care about is you calling me multiple times and thinking I would hurt Haley in any way. Physically or mentally or whatever else there is. So just do what you do best and ignore your children,” I nearly hung up before putting the phone back to my ear, “and one more thing. If you do ANYTHING to hurt her you are going to wish that you hadn’t knocked mom up because I will destroy you and the empire you built in the blink of an eye for ANY OF MY SISTERS!”
With that I hung up and blocked my father for, probably, the fifth or sixth time this month.

“Are you… homophobic?”

“What? No, Jo. Why would you think that?”

“Because you just said…”

“Faggot?”

“Yes.”

“Well, I wasn’t trying to be homophobic. It’s just a term both me and some others I know throw around. It’s nothing serious,” I just shrugged it off and all the adults and the older kids looked… sad… or confused… or disappointed. Idk the point is they looked as if I had just said something not right.

“Ok…”

“Dude,” don’t you go dude to me like you weren’t just shoving her tongue down my throat, “don’t say that word. It may just be a free-for-all term for you, but it has meaning, a hurtful one, for others.”

“Don’t call me dude.”

“Seriously, that’s what you got from what I just said,” he looked at me like I was the bane of his existence. At least now I know the kiss was only an in the moment thing.

“Yeah, yeah, don’t say the word,” I agreed with him in only a slightly mocking tone.

“Look, Hawkson,” he stood up probably to become more intimidating. And since when did he call me by my last name. No one called me by my last name. “You may be emotionless to literally everything and on a regular basis you say whatever curse word you want, but that one is serious and very harmful. People have killed themselves over that word you can’t just throw it around like that and make people feel bad because they were telling you what’s wrong with it. That’s like someone who didn’t know you walking up to you and saying your a whore just because you will kiss or fuck anything with two legs,” he realized what he said and looked very regretful, but it was too late he got my defense mechanism up.

“Last time I checked, Hugh, YOU WERE THE ONE KISSING AND SHOVING ME AGAINST THE CAR LIKE YOU WERE READY TO FUCK ME RIGHT THERE!” I realized what I just admitted, but I wasn’t going to stop there so I stood up and faced him, “you ever here about consent? OR DO FAGGOTS NOT USE IT!”

He punched me in the mouth. Hard. To the point my head was completely turned away from him. I started to taste blood when Natasha spoke up, “kids why don’t you grab the water balloons and guns from the car and play some more before we leave. Jo, sweetheart, can you help them with everything?”

“Sure,” with that they were all off leaving us and the parents.

I spit a mouthful of blood out looking back at Cash and stared frozen in place. I didn’t punch him back or make any movement against him. I just grabbed my phone off the table and started to smile at him. I turned to walk away before turning back to him.

“Just so you know,” one look in his eyes and I knew what I was about to say would either lead to nothing or pity, “you know what it doesn’t matter. Have a good rest of your weekend,”with that I turned around and walked to the road. I would call an Uber eventually I just had to… get away….
