Cash’s POV
I watched as Royal slowly walked back to the bus following quickly behind him. I was starting to learn how amazing he was with others feelings and how terrible he was with his own.
Royal was silent basically the entire way to the field, but once we arrived he ‘pepped’ up to his normal self. Ivy and the other cheerleaders were waiting for him all starting to fawn the second he got out of the bus. It was ridiculous, but also really funny.
I know that Tristan and Jasper were hesitant about talking to him after the fight, especially after the admission he had at least one boyfriend, but they’ll reunite eventually. Those three loved each other as family…. Ivy, however, I’m convinced she’s gotta go. Jo can easily replace her, but my boyfriend is blind.
“CASH?” Why did he scream in my ear?
“MARCUS?”
“I know you feel bad for him, but he’s right it happened 2 years ago and he obviously doesn’t want people to pity him. So, stop staring and be an asshole.”
I just grunted at him and walked towards the sideline. By now people were following into the stands and cheering. The cheerleaders were hyping them up except… Sasha? Why is she with Ivy and a couple other cheerleaders I don’t recognize? Why are they all huddled over a phone for some reason? Why does Ivy look pissed?
Coach started calling to the guys who haven’t huddled up yet. Oh, well the game was about to begin and the other team was all here, so we had more important issues at hand.
I walked up and started paying attention to the conversation at hand, “You sure you’re good, kid?”
“If another person asks me that I might break another nose, but other than that I’m fine,” he’s great at acting I’ll give him that.
“If I get one wrong feeling about this, or you, or whoever that kid is you’re out. Got it?”
“Good with me,” he smiled brightly as if it was another normal day.
“So, boys you-” screams louder than the rest rang out.
“CASH!!! CASH!!! CASH!!!”
“What the-“
“ROYAL!!! ROYAL!!! ROYAL!!!”
“-Fuck?”
In all their glory both the Hugh’s and the Hawkson’s were sitting right next to each other with huge signs. It was a weird sight to see them even next to each other without someone screaming… well, screaming in a bad way.
“Uhhh… do your families get along now or is this just another family feud thing. Like who can shout the loudest?”
“I have 6 sisters if it was a shouting contest it would be a no brainer who would win. What this is though, I have no fucking clue.”
“Alrighty then enough with the chitchat boys. We’ve run out of time. You know the play go out there and win this thing. BREAK!”
We lined up and by some shitty luck Royal is ended up being matched up with Max, but the look in his eyes told me I didn’t have to worry… at least not just yet.
Marcus said something to Royal, which I couldn’t hear, but it made Royal look at him confused. What did he say….
I mentally slapped myself ‘Pay attention to the game’ you can worry later.
“HUT!”
And everything began.
Time Skip b/c I know nearly nothing about football
“Ok, boys, this is our last huddle before half-time. We’re in the lead and you need to finish strong and set the mood for the second half. You know what to do, so do it.”
The referee called and we were back on the field. Everything was going smoothly we’ve basically been swamping them this entire time. But I can’t help, but wonder what they’re planning they’ve been ignoring Royal completely even when he had the ball.
The game resumed and I threw the ball to Royal who had no one next to him at the time. Then… there was a scream of pure pain.
“What the fuck?”
*Whistle blows* “Illegal hit game stopped momentarily,” a referee called.
Everyone just stared for a second before hopping into action. Royal was laying on the ground groaning and whimpering, while grabbing at his arm. He wasn’t getting up like he usually would either. Max and a couple of other players were standing over him ball forgotten… smiling.
In a couple of seconds Coach and a couple of medics had ran over to lean next to Royal who was luckily still conscious and before I could think I stomped over to Max and the others. Marcus, Tristan, and Jasper all followed.
“WHAT THE FUCK!”
“Calm down it’s an arm not a neck.”
I punched him in the face. He staggered back and smiled at me with bloodied teeth, at least I’ve figured out who Royal got it from. The teams around us started to full on brawl, but we just stared at each other.
Referees and the Coach from the other team were trying to break it up. Royal was standing by now and looked around confused before his eyes caught mine.
“Yeah, he’s hoy I’ll give him that. I never thought you would fall for you ‘arch nemesis’ though.”
I turned back to Max as he made fun of mine and Royal’s past feud, “yeah he’s hot, but unlike you that’s not all I see in him. I, actuality, love him,”
“Let’s see if that love lasts when your worlds fall apart,” he turned to join his team as the brawl had finally been stopped.
“What are you talking about?”
“You’ll find out in a couple minutes, don’t worry,” I rolled my eyes at his dramatics and turned to walk towards Royal who was sitting on the bench with his arm and wrist in a makeshift brace.
“I gotta admit,” Marcus was talking, “I was totally planning on getting revenge on you for the whole sister thing, but you’ve already gotten enough punishment,” he laughed to lighten the mood, but no one laughed with him.
“You do realize your sister cheated on me right? All I did was call her an overused cunt,” Coach moved his arm from Royal’s shoulder to head lightly hit him.
“That’s my daughter, kid,” Royal shrugged, but as he did his eyes widened and stared behind me.
That caught my attention enough to turn around and in a couple of seconds everything and everyone was mute and frozen.
I whipped back around and stared into Royal’s eyes as his gaze met mine.
“That motherfucker.”
