Taming The Bad Boy By Ivy Coleman Chapter 18

A+ A-

Sam continued to peacefully scribble against the scrawled note of homework as Hunter finished putting away the empty container and then going on to wash the grease away from his fingertips. He stood by the sink in the bathroom as his eyes cast a glance back towards Sam. Hunter chuckled softly as he shook his head, watching the soap turn into tiny clouds of bubbles as he held them under the running stream and watched them swirl down the drain.

He turned off the tap as he grabbed the towel, pausing only for a moment when he heard Sam call his name. Hunter stalked back into the room as he continued drying up his hands, looking over at Sam seated on the floor.

With large, innocent eyes, Sam stared up at Hunter before asking, “Have you gotten your letter for the trip?”

Hunter’s brows drew in slightly, a tiny crease above them as he folded up the towel and placed it on the side for a moment. He sat back down on the sofa in his slouched position were both arms would splay across the back of the couch as he shook his head. “What letter?”

Sam shuffled closer as he pushed his homework aside. Hunter looked down at Sam who was still sitting crossed legged on the floor but was now near his feet. Anyone walking by would describe the scene as some freaky kink in where Hunter was Sam’s master and Sam was being punished, begging at Hunter’s feet. The thought ran across Hunter’s mind as he glanced away, turning his head as Sam’s eyes fell to Hunter’s sharp jawline that he desperately craved to touch.

Both shook the thoughts from their head as Hunter finally turned his jaded eyes back to the innocent brown ones looking up at him. “Apparently, we are going on a trip. I’m not sure where but everyone else received their letter apart from our section.”

Sam was just about to tell him how he had heard this from Lyle and then proceed to say that he’d go and ask Happy and Kay if they received theirs, but Hunter was soon standing up and heading towards the door. “I need to check my locker anyway. I’ll see if it’s in there.” Sam nodded as he watched Hunter leave.

As Sam got up to tidy away his homework and put the towel that Hunter left on the side, back in the bathroom, Hunter not long after came walking back into the dorm with four letters in his hand. He walked casually in, kicking the door shut behind him with a nonchalant expression before he leaned against letters back to front.

Sam sat on the edge of Hunter’s bed, his fingers grasping the frame underneath as he watched Hunter. “Is it there?”

Curious about what the trip was, Sam continued to watch Hunter as Hunter tore the first letter open. His green eyes flickered back and forth before he tossed it aside as he glanced up at Sam. “Notice.” he mumbled before Sam nodded and Hunter went to the second letter.

Sam watched as Hunter tilted his head and began to flicker his eyes across it before clearing his throat and holding the letter properly at its ends. “Yeah—I think this is the one.”

Sam stood up as he bounded towards Hunter’s side and stood on his tiptoes trying to crane his head round Hunter’s broad shoulder. He wobbled unsteadily as he caught Hunter’s bicep to steady himself. Hunter lowered his arm, so Sam could see without straining as Sam sheepishly let Hunter’s bicep go and shuffled closer to look.

Hunter did not read along with Sam as he was too preoccupied with the immense heat radiating from Sam’s side. Sam was way too close and so Hunter struggled silently to push his urges away. Even if it wasn’t sexual, Hunter still had the desire to grab Sam and just hold him closer than he already was.

“Ooh! Camping.” Sam grinned as he wiggled his finger in front of the letter.

Hunte’s attention snapped away from Sam as his breath caught in his throat.

“Camping?” Hunter stood up just a little bit straighter (but still slouched) against the arm as his eyes flickered over the letter and actually absorbed the words this time.

Sam watched Hunter to see why he had given off the tiniest reaction; it may have been small, but Sam caught the slight change.

However, Sam noticed that it was not a bad reaction. Hunter didn’t seem tense or angry but actually looked slightly surprised and then happy for a moment before it disappeared and his normal, empty expression took place.

Sam moved away as he placed his hands into his pockets and kicked a cushion that had fell on the floor, “That’ll be fun, I suppose. Though I’m not good at camping.actually, I’ve never been bu—”

Sam stopped when he saw Hunter had started to open up the third letter.

This time his expression was angry.

Sam’s eyes did not move anywhere as he watched Hunter like a deer caught in the headlights. The pure rage seeping from Hunter was painfully obvious a tenter did not try to swallow it down or mask his anger. The hatred burning in his darkening eyes was overflowing as his fingers tightened around the letter and tore it in half at the bottom.

Sam’s mouth stuttered open as he tried to figure out what to say. A sympathetic face fell on Sam as he slowly and carefully stepped forward as he extended his arm. “Is it…your parents?”

Knowing nothing about Hunter, Sam had no idea whether he got along with them or not, but the letter appeared to have came from outside of the school and not inside, so it had to have been from someone Hunter knew outside of school.

Swallowing down his anger for just a second whilst he still could, Hunter snapped his eyes up to meet Sam as he gritted his teeth and seethed out “I don’t have parents.”

Not even giving Sam a minute to take that in, Hunter was already cursing at the top of his lungs screaming ‘FUCK!’ as he grabbed the desks edge and tossed the entire thing on it’s side.

Sam jumped back as Hunter’s fist slammed into the wall and with a sharp crack the wall swallowed in on itself leaving a gaping hole as Hunter ripped out his bloody fist and brought his foot into the desk leg that snapped off without a fight.

Sam stepped back, shrinking in on himself as he watched with a frightened tremor as Hunter destroyed everything in his path like a destructive hurricane with the promise of war.

Sam wanted to calm Hunter down but every time he reached out to graze Hunter’s skin, Hunter would growl, cursing as he punched something else or ripped something else off the wall with his bare hands.

San’s eyes widened as he watched Hunter’s chest rise and fall, his blood pumping thickly through his veins as his eyes became so dark Sam could no longer see his pupil or see that lovely forest shade.

“H-Hunter…who—”

Hunter turned slowly to Sam with lips twisted into a snarl, his hand still clutched into the letter that triggered the beast inside. His jet-black hair fell into his narrowed eyes as Sam blinked quickly as if that would wash away the enraged Hunter and bring back the one that was so calm almost seconds ago.

“THE FUCKER WHO GOT ME SENT IN HERE!”

As the coach rumbled underneath their feet, Sam risked a glance back at the dark headed boy at the back of the coach. His chocolate eyes locked on the jaded ones burning with emotions he just couldn’t place as Sam sighed when Hunter only stared out the window from his seat beside Carter.

Turning back to face the front, Sam glanced over at Charlie who sat quietly with his eyes closed. Unsure whether Charlie was asleep or not, Sam stared at Charlie for a few seconds before giving up since he never could tell whether Charlie was really there at all. The small boy always seemed like he was meditating himself into some paradise-like world where no one could bother him. Sam wished he could do that.

His mind flickered back to Hunter and his rage filled break down where he tore apart their dorm. His heart ached as he hopelessly wished Hunter didn’t react to him the way he did, Sam knew Hunter was obviously just stirred up from whoever this person was, but Sam couldn’t help but feel hurt with how Hunter treated him. After Hunter had gone mad, Sam had tried to calm him but Hunter had smacked his hand away and warned him to leave him alone.

Sam had walked down the aisle to see Happy and Kay sitting together. Happy was grinning as he rested his head on Kay’s shoulder. Kay looked pissed off as he mumbled under his breath and shoved Happy’s head away but Happy just grinned wider and slung his arm around Kay’s chest, nuzzling his head into the crook of Kay’s neck. Kay’s face blushed pink as he made a ‘tch’ sound and looked away, pretending he was hating the attention Happy gave him.

Sam walked further down the aisle to see Lyle was sitting next to some boy, but Lyle gave him a greeting smile as Sam smiled back and continued walking Coven the ile hoping he would find someone to sit next to.

Going neater the end but not completely at the back, Sam saw that Bear was stood up his back arched low as his head couldn’t quite fit and was touching the roof at an awkward bend. Bear looked extremely uncomfortable body wise, but his face looked slightly upset. Sam frowned in confusion as this was the first time he had seen an emotion register across Bear’s blank face.

Sam tugged Bea’s shit on his back as Bear awkwardly shuffled his giant body around. Sam winced as he saw just how bent in half Bear was. Bear looked down at him and Sam could see the upset on his big features.

“What’s wrong?” Sam worried. Bear glanced aside for a moment before he raised a thick arm and pointed it in Charlie’s direction. Sam followed the arm to see that Charlie was sitting on the seat by the window with his usual calm expression, his eyes closed, and his mouth shut.

“Mr Hornton won’t let me sit with Charlie.” Bear’s words were slow and drawled almost like an actual Bear letting out a mournful cry.

Sam blinked, frowning as he glanced back at Charlie. “Why?”

Bear frowned as he shuffled uncomfortably. “He says I’m too big. I have to have two chairs, so I can sit sideways.”

Sam could understand that completely. There was no way he could sit next to Charlie without crushing the tiny boy or even crushing the roof itself. Bear would have to sit with his back to the window and his legs up on the second Sam patted Bear’s shoulder as he smiled sympathetically at him. “Well, why don’t you sit in this one opposite Charlie. And if Charlie sits on the end seat then you can talk to each other”

Bear nodded reluctantly as he manoeuvred his large body to sit on the seat whilst Charlie moved over to the end seat. Sam didn’t know how it would work since Charle never spoke, but Bear seemed to always know Charlie’s response anyway.

As Sam took the seat by the window he glanced back once more at Hunter who looked so troubled and distant.
