Taming The Bad Boy By Ivy Coleman Chapter 19

A+ A-

Everyone stared with bored expressions at Mr Hornton who slapped his lips together every time he went to say a word. He’d often take breaks between his sentences just to slap his lips together which made a large amount of the boys wish they could wrap their fingers around his lips and sow them permanently together before he could make the sickening noise again. It was almost as if he was chewing gum but without the gum…

Mr Hornton moved throughout the coach as the boys sighed and groaned.

Most of them felt sick with travel sickness, some couldn’t stand the stench that had built up or the heat of sweaty bodies stuck together and some just wanted to get out and put up their tents.

Mr Hornton slapped his lips together before raising his clipboard. “Alright” he said loudly, clapping his hands together to get everyone’s attention before slapping his lips. “Before we exit the coach I’m going to read off some rules and regulations.”

Everyone groaned as they all looked helplessly out the window. If someone was to walk by they would probably think the students were being held captive as most of them began to press their noses up against the glass along with their palms and just stare hopelessly out the window.

Mr Hornton rambled on about safety rules before he slapped his lips together again. “And another thing, your dorm mate back at school will be who you will be sharing a tent with. I expect you to work together to put up the ten.” He continued to drone on and on as murmurs flew around.

Happy grinned as one turned onward Kay who groaned when announced dorm mates share the same tent. He slouched down into his seat, crossing his arms over his chest as he hid his face under his splayed palm. “Great—I don’t think my ass can take much more.”

Happy heard Kay’s mumble but he never took anything to heart anyway as he always new Kay was only trying to maintain his “cool” image. When around others or when not in a intimate situation, Kay would act cold and distant to Happy, pretending he was burdened with Happy’s love that irritate him, but when the two were alone and Happy was driving Kay insane with his fingertips or his teasing lips, Kay would soon unravel easily and admit to being madly in love with Happy.

Happy chuckled before he patted Kay’s shoulder. “But I haven’t even put it in yet.”

Kay flicked away Happy’s arm with a pissed expression as he snapped “But you tried!”

Sam could hear Happy’s laughter echoing down the aisle but could not make out what they were saying. His mind was too stuck on the moment with Hunter to think about anything else anyway.

As the boys started to exit the coach in a single file (which was not as orderly as that sounded) Sam kept glancing back at Hunter who continued to stare out the windows as he passed. Sam sighed to himself before hopping off the steps and walking over to Happy and Kay.

He watched as Bear’s giant form exited the coach, his neck cracking as he finally put it straight as well as his spine popping. Bear and Charlie walked over to Happy, Kay and Sam as they all waited for Mr Hornton to dish out the packs.

Mr Hornton came up to their group as he handed Happy and Kay one pack, Charlie and Bear one pack and then went to hand Sam a pack before pausing.

He glanced around before slapping his lips together. “Where’s Brookes?”

Sam blinked. “Who?”

“HUNTER BROOKES”

Mr Hornton slapped his lips together with an irritated expression before yelling Hunter turned his head as he stood up from bending down and walked over to Mr Hornton, not meeting Sam’s eyes. “Sir?” he answered coldly.

Mr Hornton shivered as he thought, ‘what an empty person’, before shoving the pack into Hunter’s arms and pointing to Sam. “Get working together. It you dilly dally you’ll be the only two sleeping outside”

Sam watched as Mr Hornton walked away and he wasn’t sure when the others snuck off, but they were all putting up their own tents as Sam glanced awkwardly at Hunter. Hunter sighed as he got straight into putting the tent up. Sam wasn’t sure what to do since he didn’t know how, and Hunter seemed to be doing the job perfectly by himself.

And so, Sam stood awkwardly at the side as he watched Hunter do his manly thing and put up the tent. However, half way through Hunter was frowning as he stepped back for a second before he rolled his eyes. He mumbled irritably under his breath before walking over to Mr Hornton who turned around a little dazed.

“Sir the tents are not big enough for two” Hunter said with a raspy tone. Mr Honton walked over as he scratched his thinning hair with a sigh.

He glanced around before slapping his lips together. “Must’ve only been enough for everyone else with the two-man tent…” Looking troubled Mr Hornton groaned before slapping his hands against his thigh. “Fine. You two take my cabin and I’ll take the tent.” he sighed.

Sam’s eyes widened. “Sir? Can we re—”

Mr Hornton groaned as he rubbed his face. “Yes, yes. Well you can’t sleep outside can you. Just hurry up and take your things. Don’t brag about it either, otherwise you will sleep outside.”

The two nodded as they picked up their packs and walked down the small path leading away from the other tents.

Sam walked behind Hunter, kicking at pebbles and debris as he watched the muscles in Hunter’s broad back contract with each step. Hunter still seemed pissed and troubled, but Sam didn’t dare to say anything in case Hunter was still a ticking time bomb.

Hunter stopped once he reached the cabin. He stopped as he glanced back over Sam’s head with a slight crease between his brows.

‘We’re quite far away from the others’, Hunter thought as he turned back to the cabin.

Just before Hunter stepped into the cabin he walked around it, admiring the ivy wrapping itself around its wooden exterior. His hand brushed the tree trunk nearby, fingertip carefully pinching a dangling leaf before he looked up, craning back his neck and inhaling deeply.

Sam watched in awe as for a split second, saw the contentment on Hunter’s face before Hunter closed his heart off to the world again. Hunter stepped up before opening the door and ducking his head under as Sam followed.

The two stopped near the door shutting it behind them as they took in the room.

The room was fairly small, nothing special, but it was nicer than a small thin tent. It was the small single bed at the end of the room that got their attention. Sam blushed as he looked away before muttering. “I’ll take the floor.”

As he dropped his pack onto the floor and headed towards the bathroom to have a look.

The bathroom was even smaller, a tiny, cramped space with a small toilet and a shower head attached to the floor. There was a small box on the floor, so the water would not seep out and soak the entire cabin.

As Sam exited the bathroom, he stopped upon seeing Hunter staring at him like a wounded puppy. Sam swallowed down the urge to run up to Hunter and tell him that it’s okay, that he wasn’t upset with Hunter, that he understood Hunter is troubled and needs help putting himself back together.

However, Sam did none of this as he simply averted his gaze and moved to grab his pack.

Sam jumped when he felt cool fingers splay across his wrist. He stayed frozen with his back towards Hunter as he waited with his heart in his throat for hunter to speak up.

“Sam.”

His name tumbled off Hunter’s lips in a raspy echo. It was a gentle tone that Hunter did not use often, but a tone full of guilt and sadness. Sam’s chest ached at the raw emotions as Hunter only ever raised his voice or had no emotion in there at all.

Sam sighed as he only turned his body slightly to hunter. He did not raise his head, unsure if he would be able to deal with seeing Hunter’s wounded look and so he kept his head low. Sam opened his mouth to say it’s fine. Let’s just unpack? But before he could his back was being pressed into the wall as he went flying in the opposite direction.

He gasped, startled as he looked up with wide eyes to see Hunter caging him between the wall and his large form. One arm of Hunter’s extended high above both of their heads, palm pressed to the wall. The other hand resting against the wall beside Sam’s head, near his car as their bodies were only Sam looked frantically at Hunter as Hunter only ever looked straight into Sam’s eyes. Hunter lowered his head as his black locks dipped into his eyes.

“Sam…” Hunter’s fingers beside Sam’s ear curled as the almost scratched the wall. “I’m sorry.”

Sam’s bottom lip dropped a little as he looked everywhere around the room trying to register what was happening. He finally turned his eyes back to Hunter as he frowned, a soft, sorrow filled expression filling his young face as he sighed gently, two small hands grasping either side of Hunter’s head, his fingertips getting lost in those dark locks.

Hunter looked shocked as Sam raised his head. His eyes fell to the thin lips that smiled sweetly at him. “I’m not upset with you, Hunter. I never was. I” Hunter cut Sam off as he wrapped his fingers around the left wrist of Sam’s hand that clutched at his face. “I didn’t mean to smack your hand away I swear. I’d never hurt yo—”

Sam laughed softly as he nodded. “I know.” He reassured. Hunter let go of Sam’s wrist as he put his arm outstretched back on the wall. Hunter stepped a little closer, their bodies barely an inch apart as Sam looked down. “I was upset you didn’t confide in me.”

Hunter looked back up at Sam as his green eyes searched Sam’s chocolate ones. “I wish you’d open up to me.” Sam frowned. Hunter chewed the inside of his cheek as he looked away for a second.

‘I’ll try, Sam. I really will’. He thought as he shuffled his feet. Sam could feel Hunter becoming impatient and noticed how he kept squirming. He thought that maybe it was because Hunter was becoming uncomfortable with this ‘touchy’ conversation and was struggling to apologise and open up. How was Sam to know Hunter could barely keep still because he wanted to attack Sam already?

Hunter never lowered his head once as he called out Sam’s name again. This time all insecurity was gone and what replaced it was a lustful, deep, sexual tone that shivers up Sam’s spine as he looked back at Hunter with wide eyes.

“Sam.”

Hunter exhaled, his warm breath fanning Sam’s cheek as he lowered his arms and braced his elbows either side of Sam’s head instead, forcing the two of them to become closer together as that inch between their bodies was now gone and the two of them could feel each other. “Do you like me?”

Sam’s eyes widened as he inhaled sharply. His face burned red as he looked away, turning his head to the left as he closed his eyes shut from embarrassment. Sam’s hands that were pressed against the wall below, began to curl, his fingers digging into the wood as he tried to calm his thumping heart.

Hunter’s breath could be heard down Sam’s ear as he felt the warm air seep over his earlobe. The soft flesh of Hunter’s plump lips graze over Sams carlobes as he whispered;

“I want to kiss you?”
