Taming The Bad Boy By Ivy Coleman Chapter 28

Sam rested peacefully against Hunter’s chest, oblivious to the lion who had stilled beneath him.

“Sam.”

Sam’s eyes shot open from the sudden whisper of his name. His actual name.

Not ‘Bambi’, not ‘Baby’… but Sam.

The cold, silent tone of Hunter’s whisper sent shivers down Sam’s spine as Sam slowly edged his way up on Hunter’s chest. Hunter did not glance over at Sam but continued to stare at the ceiling as he inhaled slowly, his nostrils flaring like a bull about to attack.

“I’m going to give you five seconds to explain to me what you’re talking about.”

Sam felt nauseous. Not because he was scared Hunter would do anything to him but because he could tell—anyone could tell that Hunter was about to explode into a ball of fire.

Gulping, Sam sat up as Hunter continued to stare at the ceiling, inhaling and exhaling slowly to calm himself. He stuttered, mouth opening and closing like a fish as he tried to stutter out words that got blocked in his throat.

Hunter closed his eyes, his chest rising and falling as his slow inhales became sharp, quick exhales through his nose like a bull scrapping its hoof along the Sam crawled off Hunter as he reached for his jeans and hoodie before quickly pulling them on, all the while watching Hunter, who by now was still squeezing his eyes shut, his hand covering his forehead as if trying to mentally calm himself.

Hunter sat up abruptly. His toned chest glimmered under the dull lighting as his dark eyes darkened drastically as he looked over at Sam. His jaw was locked, a flex flickering at the corner as his thick, black brows drew down together.

“Fine.” He growled lowly as he tossed the covers aside and got up with ease, his long legs allowing him to stand to his full, threatening height. His nostrils flared as his fists automatically closed together. “Don’t tell me.”

He stormed towards the centre of the room where he grabbed his shirt and yanked it on before heading towards the door. “I’ll just beat it out of Lyle.” Sam cried out as he rushed towards the door, slamming it shut as he pressed his back into it. Hunter towered over him, his eyes dark dancing with flames as he looked down at Sam.

“Sam. Move out of my way.” He growled.

Sam swallowed as he shakily looked up. “Or what… you’ll hurt me?”

A loud bang echoed through the room as Hunter slammed his hand beside Sam into the door. “LIKE FUCK I’D HURT YOU!” He roared as Sam jumped. Hunter clenched his fists as he moved into the centre of the room, pacing before he gritted his teeth together and slammed his fist into the wall.

“FUCK!”

Sam jumped when Hunter’s first snapped the wood in half, the loud snap echoing through the cabin as Hunter’s back heaved up and down with heavy pants. When Hunter turned around Sam almost didn’t recognise him as never ever had Sam seen Hunter this mad.

“That little fuck! Just wait till I get my hands on him the dirty bastard. Im gonna rip his damn limbs off” Hunter growled as he slammed his foot into the bedpost. The bed creaked out in reply as it collapsed in on itself. Sam could do nothing but watch helplessly as Hunter destroyed the cabin.

Dark shadows fell across Hunter’s face as he panted, his stance strong and move.”

dominating as he turned to Sam with dark eyes. “I’m being serious, Samn.

Sam shook his head as he tried to stand his ground. “I-I can’t.”

“FINE” Hunter growled as he stormed forwards. “Then I’ll move you”

Sam protested as Hunter placed his hands under Sam’s arms and lifted the boy up with ease, placing him aside. Hunter grasped the handle, forgetine the door was locked as he yanked it open with force only for the door to rip off its hinges.

Sam dashed out after Hunter as he tried to keep up with Hunter’s long strides. Hunter smacked away any leaf or branch that tried to so much as covet his vision as he stalked through the forest.

His mind painted images of Lyle’s bloodied form as he grew hotter and hotter with rage. He was like a thunderstorm rolling close to the centre of camp about to destroy everything in its path.

Sam caught up with Hunter as he grabbed Hunter’s arm and yanked him back.

It had no effect on the muscular boy who didn’t even budge under Sam’s pressure, yet Hunter stopped to turn towards Sam.

“Hunter please—y-you’re scaring me.” Sam whimpered as he looked up at Hunter with big eyes.

Hunter flexed his jaw as his eyes softened for only a second before returning to their dark gaze. To Sam’s surprise, Hunter pulled Sam’s head in towards him, his hand holding the back of Sam’s head, fingertips tangled in Sam’s hair.

His lips pressed a strong kiss against Sam’s forehead as Hunter looked over Sam’s head. “I’m not angry at you, Sam. I’d never hurt you.” Hunter breathed out as Sam rested his palms against Hunter’s chest. Sam didn’t mean that, he knew Hunter wouldn’t hurt him. “But I will rip that bastard apart until no one can recognise him anymore.”

Sam flinched as he wrapped his arms tightly around Hunter’s waist and buried his head into Hunter’s chest. “Please don’t.”

Hunter’s fists shook as he closed his eyes tightly, his one side telling him to listen to Sam and calm down. The other side burned with rage as it told him one thing; Kill Lyle.

Knowing he would give into Sam as he couldn’t help but do what makes Sam happy, Hunter gently pulled Sam off him as he slammed his fist into the tree opposite them.

And so, Sam watched as Hunter cursed, growling and yelling as he slammed his fists repeatedly into the tree one after the other. The crimson liquid leaked down his broken knuckles and dribbled down to his elbows as Hunter Browled, his sharp canines flashing as he pummelled each fist into the crimson Sam wished he could stop him, but he knew it was better for Hunter to let all of his anger out on the tree than to keep it in and take it out on Lyle. Sam began to get worried as Hunter didn’t stop. He continued and continued until the blood coated his arms and his throat was raw with rage.

His yells and curses clung in the air, echoing around them as the dark glints in his eyes flashed under the sunlight.

Hunter panted, squatting down as he used one hand to keep balance against the tree. His hands were bruised and bloodied, three of his fingers broken as he panted.

Sam glanced over at a bloodied Hunter who remained still. Sam wasn’t sure Hunter was even still with him as he had fallen completely silent.

Hunter moved, clutching his head, the blood trickling down his arm as he exhaled a long pass of air. “Sam. I’m doing everything I can to calm myself down. Please just tell me.”

Sam carefully walked over, his feet crunching against the leaves as he placed his hand on Hunter’s broad shoulder. He was hesitant, yet Hunter never flinched nor shrugged his shoulder away and so Sam gently squeezed his shoulder.

“I’ll tell you everything, Hunter. Just—let’s go back to the cabin where we can clean up your hands.” Sam pleaded softly as Hunter shook his head.

“No.” He rasped out, his throat sore from screaming. “Now, Sam.” Sam sighed, finger combing back his locks as he nodded. He sat down beside Hunter as Hunter continued to just stare at the crimson stained bark, waiting for Sam to speak.

“The day I went to fetch you some food I saw Lyle sitting outside. He had a bruise on his eye and looked really down so I approached him, and we started talking.” Sam started as he constantly watched Hunter for his reactions, scared the ticking time bomb would suddenly go off.

Hunter nodded stiffly as he parted his lips, “About what?”

Sam swallowed as he continued. “He was saying how nobody liked him, how . shouldn’t be so nice to him because he’s no good. I felt bad, I don’t believe you should just judge someone and so I told him that l’d be his friend.”

Sam stopped, hating his story when he saw Hunter’s form stiffen. However, Hunter was exhausted, and his fingers throbbed so luckily there was no more need too.

“Anyway, Lyle seemed really nice. He was really friendly and even seemed shy at parts. So, when we had to partner up with someone I partnered up with Lyl—”

“Did he do anything to you?” The deep voice echoed out as Hunter’s fists clenched, cracking and dripping with blood as Sam winced and shook his head quickly, placing his hand on Hunter’s arm to calm him.

“No. Honestly.” He promised, his words soothing HUnter who relaxed only slightly. Hunter nodded, still stiff as Sam continued. “He… well he started talking about how you’re always so happy with everyone else but me, how that mean you must not care for me. He also… told me about what happened when Dale tried to hit me…”

Hunter froze as he finally moved from his sucken position. Hunter frowned, brows furrowed as he lifted his head and turned it towards Sam. Some of the blood had stained across his cheekbone as he looked at Sam. “What did he say?”

Sam averted his eyes as he scratched the back of his head. “He said that he was leaving the class to do something… I can’t remember what he said, but he said he overheard you and Bear speaking. Said that when Bear asked you why you weren’t sticking up for me, you told Bear I had it coming to me, that it would teach me not to try and get involved in your business.” Hunter’s face turned cold, a stoic expression falling onto his face as he pursed his lips and turned his head to stare at the horizon again. Sam stilled as he reached out to Hunter again. Hunter lowered his head once feeling Sam’s touch as he calmed again.

He turned to Sam as he shook his head. “He’s lying to you, Sam. I never said that. I was the one who fetched Bear.” Sam froze as his eyes widened. “W-what?”

Hunter licked his bottom lip as he shook his head in disbelief at Lyles blatant lies. “When I saw Dale was going to beat you up I knew that Lyle was observing me. I knew Lyle wanted me to come to your rescue, that way he’d know you meant something to me and he’d try and use that as a weakness against me. So instead I pretended I didn’t care and I went and got Bear to help you instead—I told Bear not to tell you so that Lyle never found out. Honest, Sam. You can ask Bear if yo—”

Sam cut Hunter off as he gently pressed his hand against Hunter’s lips before lowering it. “I… I believe you, Hunter.. but why… why would Lyle—”

“Because he wants the title, Sam. He’ll do anything to get it. He’s manipulative and clever. He doesn’t ever do the dirty work, never gets physically involved, just always uses his mind games and words to twist people’s minds.” Hunter rasped.

Sam shrunk back as he processed Hunter’s words. Hunter watched Sam before he reached out and patted his bruised hand on Sam’s knee. “Don’t worry, Sam. I’m going to make him pay.”

Sam shook his head as his brows furrowed angrily, though Sam’s anger was more of disbelief compared to Hunter’s rage filled anger. “No. Don’t.” Sam said as he shook his head watching as Hunter frowned. “I want to talk to him. I want to confront him. Let me.”

Hunter shook his head as he stood up, Sam following suit. “No. No way. He’ll get in your hea—”

“Hunter.” Sam whispered as Hunter paused. “I let him manipulate me once I’m not going to again. Please—just let me talk to him.”

Hunter bit the inside of his gum as he mentally groaned for being so weak towards Sam.

Hunter inhaled before nodding slowly.

“Fine but once your done,”

“He’s mine to break.”
