Sam hesitated, Hunter’s heart pounding thickly against his battered rib cage when Sam didn’t immediately speak up. Hunter could feel the rejection already as he felt the hurt and the familiar pain of being turned away from a loved one yet again. However, he would not yell at Sam nor would he treat him any differently, instead he would smile at the smaller boy and tell him to forget it, that he should focus on getting better.
But when Sam looked up at Hunter, Hunter could see in his eyes that Sam wasn’t hesitating because he was unsure of their love, but because of something else.
Sam averted his eyes as Hunter glanced at him, leaning forward with a gentle tone reserved only for Sam. “Bambi. What is it?”
Sam played with his hands, nervously messing with each finger before he looked up, still avoiding Hunter’s eyes as he rubbed his arm. He wiggled his toes, biting his lips, seeming to do everything he could so that he wouldn’t have to spit the words out.
“I… Hunter,” Sam sighed as he ran his hands through his caramel locks. He finally looked at Hunter and Hunter was confused and worried about why Sam was looking so sad. “The reason I’m in here… if you knew.”
“I wouldn’t care.” Hunter stated with a clear, firm tone. Sam glanced up, shock adorning his features as Hunter looked at him without a trace of doubt.
Sam searched his face as he tried to find any hint of a lie but saw nothing but honesty in his words. Hunter got up off the chair, standing at his full height for a moment before he sat down carefully at the edge of Sam’s bed.
He wrapped his arm around Sam’s shoulder as he leaned in towards him, sharing some of his body heat with Sam. “Bambi.” Hunter said softly as Sam lifted his nervous gaze to look up at Hunter. “I don’t care what you did to end up in here. You think I haven’t wondered what you’ve done? You think no one wonders why someone as kind and gentle as you has ended up in this hell hole? It doesn’t take a genius to figure out you don’t belong here. I don’t know what happened, but it doesn’t matter to me because I know you’re a good person. If you want to tell me then I’ll listen, and I won’t judge you for it nor will I hold it against you. If you don’t want to tell me then that’s fine too because you’ll always be the same Sam to me.”
Sam was baffled by Hunter’s kind words. A side only he was allowed to see to Hunter. A side no one thought the lion had.
Sam’s eyes became watery as he felt the feeling of guilt from the incident and guilt from not telling Hunter the truth. Even though Hunter’s words hit his heart, he still feared he would tell Hunter and Hunter would change his mind.
What happened wasn’t Sam’s fault. If it was, he’d be in jail… but it still haunted someone as kind and loving as him, whether it was an accident or not, whether it was his fault or not… he still couldn’t forget.
Sam spluttered, choking out a sob he tried to hold back as the tears flowed endlessly down his cheeks. Hunter’s eyes widened as he scooped Sam up into his arms. He held Sam until he calmed down, letting the smaller boy soak his shirt and clutch onto his for dear life as Sam got out everything he had been holding back.
Sam was curled up so small against Hunter’s chest that Hunter was scared he would break Sam had he held too tight. Hunter soothed his hand up and down Sam’s back, his cheek resting on the crown of Sam’s head as he gently placed a kiss there.
He finger combed back Sam’s hair, smothering his face in gentle kisses, kissing away his tears and kissing any piece of untouched flesh on his young face.
Even when Sam stopped crying Hunter did not let him go nor did he stop kissing him. Sam’s fingers curled into Hunter’s shirt as he tried to ease his breathing, sniffling as he went to wipe away the remaining tears, but Hunter had already kissed them away before he could.
Sam wished he could leave with Hunter right now. He knew Hunter was trying to be sweet and gentle, but Sam couldn’t help but crave more from Hunter because Hunter’s lips were just so damn intoxicating. His kisses were gentle and soft, but his lips were like silk.
Sam pulled back as Hunter watched him carefully, observing his reactions.
Sam took a deep breath as he nodded to Hunter, “I’m ready to tell you..”
“W-what I-I did… t-there’s blood on my hands…”
*Flashback*
“HEY SAMMY!”
Sam paused, stopping when he heard the familiar voice echo through the parking lot of the school before it reached his ears.
Sam grinned, flashing off his teeth in a box smile as he shrugged his back pack quickly onto his back before rushing over to meet the dark-haired boy.
“Tommy—hey” Sam grinned. Tommy wrapped his arm around Sam’s shoulders, the taller boy walking with confidence as his entire stance showed everyone just how popular he was.
The dark-haired boy smirked down at Sam, his blue eyes locking on the brown ones looking back at him as he ruffled Sam’s hair.
Sam blushes, face turning red as he silently revelled in the attention from the school’s most popular boy.
Sam didn’t blush because he liked Tommy, no at the time Sam actually had a crush on Fern, a girl in their year who had long brown braids and a cute button nose.
However, any attention anyone received from Tommy was bound to make anyone starry eyed. He was like a god in their eyes, the popular boy who was handsome and talented, skilled in everything.
Sam wasn’t sure why Tommy had taken a liking to him but when the popular boy first spoke to Sam, suddenly turned to him during class with his charming smile and inviting happily.
They all hung out after school, Sam a little nervous but they all actually seemed really cool. They mostly just joked about, teasing and digging at each other before kicking the ball around for a bit.
As the weeks flew by Sam got closer and closer to the group. More people started to notice him in school, saying hello to him in the hallways, inviting him to parties. From someone who didn’t really have any close friends to suddenly becoming popular, Sam was loving life, eternally grateful towards Tommy.
As Sam got closer he was too awe struck by Tommy to notice that Tommy seemed to be acting a bit more demanding. He would still smile charmingly at Sam and speak in his charming voice as he asked Sam to run and get him a drink. Sam obliged, grateful to Tommy and soon Sam found he was running a lot of errands for Tommy.
Neal, a tall boy who always wore a serious look and didn’t really seem to fir in with the popular boys either yet had made it into their group somehow, was usually the one running errands but suddenly it became Sam’s job as Tommy would now turn Sam with that kind grin before asking Sam for something when Sam returned Tommy would ruffle his locks.
It was when Sam was returning from the vending machine, the chocolate milkshake in his hand ready to go back into the sports hall to give to Tommy, when Neal stepped out of the sports hall doors, glancing left and right as if looking for someone before he spotted Sam.
Sam smiled at him, slowing his pace down when Neal walked over to him. Neal stopped him, standing strangely dose to Sam as Sam flinched slightly, looking up at the all, serious bay confused.
Neal’s gaze darkened as he trapped Sam between himself and the wall. Sam looked up in shock, eyes widening as he didn’t think Neal was the type to get jealous or aggressive.
However, Neal didn’t come outside to threaten Sam at all.
No.
Instead he came out to warn Sam.
“Be careful of Tommy.” Neal whispered. His tone was dark and serious as if he knew exactly what he was talking about, yet Sam couldn’t understand at all. He frowned, brows furrowed as he awkwardly looked at Neal, shuffling in discomfort from being trapped.
“W-what?” Sam frowned.
Neal sighed, running his fingers over the back of his head as if annoyed Sam was not understanding. It seemed Neal didn’t want to just blurt it out because be couldn’… yet his conscious wouldn’t allow him to just leave Sam without telling him.
Neal cased his eyes before he rubbed at his forehead and looked at Sam again with intense gaze. “Look just… don’t get so close to him, okay.”
Sam raised his brows before opening his mouth ready to ask Neal if he was alright. As far as Sam had seemed there seemed to be absolutely nothing wrong with Tommy. He was Juny, kind and friendly. Everyone loved him.
Sam pinned it down to Neal being jealous, after all, Tommy also helped Neal gain popularity since he was originally a nobody as well. Now Tommy wasn’t as close to Neal, he no longer wrapped his arm around Neal’s shoulder, no longer asked Neal to fetch him things nor did he ruffle Neal’s locks anymore. Sam had seen Tommy do all this to Neal and after a few weeks Tommy had warmed up to Sam and became friendlier with Sam.
But thinking about it…
When Sam was an outsider,, only watching the popular group as Tommy just invited Neal in the group, he noticed Neal would laugh and blush just like he was doing now, yet when Sam came in he saw that over time Neal stopped reacting but seemed to flinch under Tommy’s touch, his face always serious and distant.
The doors opened as Neal’s eyes widened before he quickly moved off of Sam. He gave Sam one last warning look as Bryan came out, turning his head looking for the two.
“Hey, you guys” Boyan called with a grin as he motioned them over with his meaty hand.
“Tommy was wondering where you went too.”
Neal pushed up his glasses before he gave Sam a sharp nod before he turned around and walked back into the hall. Bryan held the door open for Sam as be patted Sam’s shoulder when
Sam walked in.
Sam snapped out of his daze as he smiled at Bryan who smiled back at him. Tommy was talking, centred in the middle of the group as he told them all a story about the time his shorts fell down during football practice. The entire group was in hysterics and soon Tommy’s eyes fell to Sam as he smiled at Sam.
“Ah, thanks, Sam.” Tommy grinned, ruffling Sam’s locks as Sam nodded, sitting down beside Tommy. Tommy continued with the story as everyone burst out laughing but Sam could not listen as what Neal said to him constantly roamed about in his mind.
He glanced over to see Neal was sitting slightly far away from the group, his head down, his expression still serious and distant. Sam frowned, brows furrowing as distant laughs echoed in his ears.
Soon, PE was over as everyone packed up. Fern grabbed her PE bag, slinging it over her shoulder as she waved at Sam, “Bye, Sam”‘ she giggled. Sam’s eyes widened as his cheeks flushed red. He nervously waved back as Tommy glanced between the two smirking before pulling Sam into a headlock.
“Ah, Sammy boy.” Tommy teased. Sam laughed, face burning red as he playfully shoved Tommy. Tommy ruffled Sam’s hair again as everyone left the sports hall. Sam was about to walk out when suddenly the back of his sports jacket was being held.
Sam stopped, pausing in confusion as he craned his head back, “Hmm?” he hummed to see Tommy standing in his usual spot, one band buried in his pockets. He smiled kindly at Sam before he slung his arm around Sam’s shoulder.
“C’mer. I wanna show you something.” He winked. Sam nodded, the two walking to the storage room at the back that held all the old sports equipment. As Tommy opened the doors, Sam being but struggling which made Tommy laugh gently, Sam fling his waiting patiently.
Laughter, the two finally got inside, Tommy sliding the door shut as Sam stood by the lor Tommy walked deeper into the room before he bent down and pulled out a rusted cardboard box. He smirked, snickering cheekily as he motioned Sam over. “Come look at this!” Sam walked over, squatting down beside Tommy as his eyes widened. He covered his legs as his face burned red at the indecent pictures of the female PE teacher stashed into the box.
Tommy laughed throatily at Sam’s reaction. “Coach took these, turns out the two are banging.” Tommy laughed
Sam blushed, averting his eyes but couldn’t help but giggle as well as Tommy kicked the box away. Tommy stood up, Sam watching him before he too stood up. Tommy walked around, one hand buried in his pocket as the other trailed over the old equipment.
“You know, Sam. I’m really glad we became friends.” Tommy smiled. Sam nodded, gleaming a bright grin.
“Me too.” He nodded enthusiastically. Tommy chuckled before he walked over to Sam, standing closely in front of him.
He braced one hand up on the wall above Sam’s head, lowering his head so he could see Sam. “Are you enjoying school now that you’re popular?” Tommy teased.
Sam blushed, playfully pushing Tommy’s chest as the older boy laughed but did not budge.
Tommy’s eyes roamed down Sam’s small form as his other hand braced softly against Sam’s chest, pushing until Sam’s back bit the wall.
Tommy’s other arm caged Sam’s head in as he lowered his head, licking his lips. “You know… I did that for you.. I got you where you are now.” Tommy whispered.
Sam started to feel uncomfortable and nervous. Tommy was acting differently and he was starting to remember Neal’s words. Tommy smirked as his finger trailed along Sam’s Janine. “Don’t you think you owe me?”
Tommy watched Sam’s reaction, but Sam didn’t seem happy at all. Sam tried to move away but Tommy braced his arm against Sam’s chest. “Hey!” He soothed as Sam looked panicked. Sam looked back up to see the old Tommy smiling at him again.
“Don’t worry, Sam. It’s just me.” He chuckled. He lowered his head, his breath fanning over Sam’s lips as Sam flinched. ” All you got to do is kiss me. I won’t tell anyone.”
Sam looked away, averting his eyes. He really didn’t want to kiss Tommy, he wasn’t stupid he knew he was being guilt tripped into kissing Tommy but a part of him felt bad for Tommy. Was Tommy gay and unable to be who he wanted to be because he was so popular.
“Just… just a kiss?” Sam flinched as Tommy smiled, running his fingers through Sam’s hair. Tommy nodded, his thumb stroking Sam’s cheek as he repeated the words back to Sam.
“Just a kiss.”
Sam awkwardly cased his eyes, flinching when Tommy’s lips met his. Sam expected just a quick peck, but Tommy was tilling his bead, his tongue trailing over Sam’s lips as his other arm held Sam’s head close to him.
Sam’s bands scrunched up in Tommy’s jacket as he tried to move back but soon Tommy’s hand was sneaking down his waist and dipping into the hem of his waistband.
Sam began to freak out, struggling against Tommy as he hit the boy’s chest. Sam pushed Tommy, using the small gap when Tommy shuffled back to quickly rush out, but Tommy caught him, the two falling down, Tommy landing on top of Sam against some matts.
Sam struggled, squirming as Tommy pinned his wrists above his head, straddling his thin waist. “Just relax, Sam. I won’t hurt you I promise, I’ll be gentle.”
Sam growled, trying hard to hit or kick at Tommy but the stronger boy had him pinned down.
It finally bit Sam that Tommy had most likely sexually assaulted Neal, guilt tripping him into letting him have his way with him and it broke Sam’s heart to imagine Neal laying on the mat where he is now whilst Tommy pulled up his trousers with a pleased smile. How horrible it was that afterwards Tommy would go back to ruffling his hair and making him feel like he mattered before most likely taking advantage of him again.
Sam yelled, trying to scream for help but Tommy slammed his hand over Sam’s lips.
“Dammit, Sam. Quit struggling, I promise it’ll feel good.”
As Tommy’s other hand went to pull down Sam’s trousers, Sam freaked out, his teeth sinking into Tommy’s hand as Tommy let go, sitting up as he clasped his red hand to his away from him.
The moment Tommy went flying backwards, Sam went to sprint straight for the door. Only he heard a sickening crack and when he slowly turned around he saw a crimson puddle beginning to flow from Tommy’s head as blue eyes stared at the ceiling, unflinching.
“T-Tommy?”
