Taming The Bad Boy By Ivy Coleman Chapter 7

After pretending to be sick to get out of the rest of the lesson, Sam dragged his depressed form to his dorm room, dreading seeing Hunter casually sitting there with that empty, cold expression of his. Sam felt sick and disgusted, he couldn’t believe Hunter just got up and left with such a nonchalant expression, leaving him to be eaten by one of the wolves. Sam lifelessly reached for the handle and slowly turned it, but his shoulder suddenly jerked forward when the door was open from the other end. Sam’s eyes were now level with black material, his eyes staring into Hunter’s chest as he slowly looked down, not even wanting to look Hunter in the eyes.

Hunter looked down at Sam as he waited for Sam to look up at him. When Sam did not, Hunter bit the inside of his gum and looked away before using his monotone, empty voice to state “I’m going out.”

Sam didn’t even ask any questions as he just shuffled past Hunter and crawled straight up to his top bunk.

Hunter sighed as he watched the hyper puppy become drained and depressed. He ran his fingers through his dark locks as he opened his mouth to say something but looked away before shutting the door behind him. Upon hearing the sound of the door clicking shut, Sam finally released the tears that had wanted to fall from the very beginning. He rolled over and shoved his face deeply into his pillow as he let the dam break and the flood break free.

After, Sam was exhausted and lay sprawled out like a deflated balloon. His cheeks were red and his eyes a little sore as well as a stuffy nose, but he was mostly angry. Angry at Hunter. He decided he would not converse with Hunter unless needed. They would not be friends, only roommates. But he felt stupid for ignoring everyone’s advice and trying to be Hunter’s friend in the first place. The door opened, and Sam was quick to shove his head back into his blankets and fake sleep.

He heard the sound of the door clicking shut as shuffling about sounded throughout the room. Turning his head, Sam peaked through his lashes as he silently gaped when he saw Hunter’s bloodied form. His lip was cut, and his eye was forming a dark bruise but the worse was his knuckles which were so torn and bloody it looked as if he had been punching a spiked punching bag. Hunter was sitting on the edge of the couch as he dipped a cloth into warm water and rubbed it over his knuckles.

He did not wince nor flinch but sat there with an expression that showed he was still holding a grudge from whoever he had done this too. Sam felt the need to go down and help him but then he remembered how hurt he was and how Hunter didn’t care about him but left him to get hurt.

Also, why should he help someone who just keeps getting into fights? Sam stubbornly turned his head, faking sleep. Hunter’s dark green eyes flickered over as he sighed. “I know you’re awake, Bambi”

Sam stilled but did not dare to answer. His brows furrowed in anger, but he only resembled an angry puppy.

Hunter opened his mouth to say something once again but looked down at the floor and closed his mouth. Once he wrapped up his hands he headed towards his bed but stopped, watching the back of Sam’s head. It seemed that once Hunter had first touched Sam’s soft locks he now felt he was addicted and could not stop the urge to run his fingers through them again. His hand came up as he hovered it above Sam’s head but stopped when he practically felt the anger radiating off Sam.

Hunter sighed, turning around as he reached behind and pulled off his shirt. His back muscles contracted as his biceps flexed and his toned skin glistened under the dull light.

“Why did you walk away.” Sam’s shaky voice cut through the silence as Hunter inhaled quietly before turning around. His abs squeezed together tightly as he looked away before looking back at Sam with an empty expression that showed Sam that Hunter was only going to push him away again. Sam sat up as he looked at Hunter with a hurt expression. He wasn’t even angry now, he was just hurt. “Why didn’t you do something?” Sam’s fingers curled into the blankets as Hunter looked away to his left before looking back at Sam. His face kept that empty expression but for a moment something flickered across his face as he turned to Sam with a cold, bitter expression.

His jaded green eyes turned two shades darker as his jaw flexed, his lids narrowing. Hunter flung his shirt behind him as he yanked back his covers. His necklace rolled across his taunt collarbones as he looked at Sam straight in the eye.

“Because I don’t care about you.”

Sam was struck with a searing pain of hurt he had never felt before. He couldn’t explain why Hunter’s words hurt so much when he knew he meant nothing to him in the first place—no one mattered to the King. Hunter shouldn’t even matter to Sam, it’s not like they were close. Hunter pulled back the covers as he sighed “Get it out of your head that you mean something to me, Bambi. You should start listening to your friends; stay away from me… I’m dangerous.”

Haunting blue eyes glared up at the ceiling as Lyle turned over in his bed again. The quilts tangled around his agitated form as he huffed out an impatient growl and slammed his hands down atop of his sheets. The door creaked open as a small whimper echoed across the room. Lyle’s narrowed eyes fell across to a limping Dale who scooted himself into the room. As Lyle took in Dale’s appearance with a sharp inhale of breath, he sat up, the quits pooling around his want e he hummed lowly. “What happened to you” Lyle winced unsympathetically as he scratched his messy bond locks. “Be gut you after today?” Lyle knew that even if it as Beat who had beaten up Dit so badly Dale would never try to accuse Lyle of it being his fault or try revenge because Dal’s mind was empty and hollow, and Lyle was a peles manipulator who had Dale wrapped around his little finger.

Dale groaned as he sat down slowly, wincing as he held his swollen cheek and looked up at Lyle through ballooned eyes that looked as though they were separate to his face. Dale bared his missing teeth at Lyle in a grimace full of hatred “No, that damn Lion.”

Lyle, who was bored and picking at his nails, suddenly became interested as he jumped down from his top bunk and stood in front of the bleeding boy. “Hunter? Hunter did this to you?”

Dale winced, only humming quietly as he flinched at the Lion’s name. Lyle’s mouth twitched into a frightening smirk as his clever mind ticked away.

He paced back and forth as Dale fell, oblivious to this and carried on, “Just came outta nowhere throwing his fists and all that. But there was more than one of uz and so we all got a few goodens in there too. He started screamin’ bout that damn kid—sayin’ he’d kill uz if we touched ‘im again” Dale winced. Lyle stroked his chin as he grinned, his evil eyes lighting us with toxic happiness.

“So, the rabbit is his weak spot, he just was clever enough not to make that public.” Lyle sat down, ignoring Dale’s aches and moans of pain as he started to think. It was probably Hunter who tipped Bear off about the rabbit being bullied by Dale. What a smart lion—he walks out in front of everyone making them think he doesn’t have a weakness but then goes and fetches Bear to fix it instead? Lyle grinned as he leaned forward, rubbing his palms together as a warm friction burned between them. You messed up Lion. You just had to get your revenge for your little rabbit—had you not attacked Dale I would never have known… foolish idiot? “So, he does care.” Lyle smirked as he whispered to himself.

Dale clumsily looked up with a ‘huh?’ falling from his toothless mouth. Dale frowned as he looked down. “You’re.not gonna ask uz to pick on the kid again are ya?” Dale gulped. It was ironic that a rather large boy like himself was weak and powerless to a slim, small figure like Lyle.

Lyle stood up as he smirked and patted Dale’s sweaty, blood stained shoulder.

“No, no. I’ve got another plan. You just leave this one to me this time…though I will need your help with something.”

*Flashback*

Sam mentally sighed in relief but then to his own surprise, Hunter shoved his hands into his pockets with his bored expression and walked out of the classroom. Hunter exited the classroom as he felt the eyes following him until the classroom door shut behind him and the prying eyes could no longer see him. His calm facade burned away as his brows knit together with worry that was never normally on his expressionless face.

Hunter paced quickly as he tried to think of what to do—the entire time his eyes would flicker up to the door as he tried to hurry before anything happened to Bambi. It finally clicked, and Hunter was running of down the halls, his trainers slapping the flood and bouncing around as he skidded to a halt in front of another classroom.

Hunter rapped at the window as Bear slowly looked towards him with his blank expression. Bear stood up once Hunter motioned him out. Unlike the others, Bear was not afraid of Hunter and Hunter had no problem with Bear since Bear did not care for his title. Bear left the room, towering over Hunter over Huner was sure he’d have to say something else to convince Bear, he was expecting Bear to shrug and walk back into the classroom.

Hunter followed but remained hidden behind a wall as his teeth ground together. ‘Damn fatass touching what isn’t his!’ Hunter thought bitterly. It hurt Hunter to not run in there and rip Dale away from Bambi, but he knew by doing that, the blue eyes watching him from the corner would only use Bambi against him even more.

Upon seeing Bear take care of the situation Hunter signed out as he slumped against the wall in relief. Bear went to walk past but Hunter reached out and caught his wrist. “You can’t tell him I asked you to help him. He can’t know about this otherwise he’ll be in even more danger than he already is…”

“He has to think I don’t care for him.”
