“Is he coming?” Reyansh asked leaning against his car window. I shook my head. I tried to convince Shaurya alot, but nothing is affecting him now.
He’ll understand once everyone goes back. Neil said that he’s also going back in an hour. “But where are they two?” Reyansh asked, his voice is sore. I looked everywhere, turning back to Reyansh. “I’m feeling sad saying it Reyansh, but no one cares about you..” I said in a dramatic tone patting his back.
I thought that it’ll annoy him but instead, hi face lightened up forming a big smile. “Care?” He said holding me by my shoulder and turning me towards the house “Here!” I looked at both Arhaan and Neil carrying Shaurya by his arms and legs.
I let out a loud chuckle looking at them. Shaurya’s giving me the exact feeling of a child who doesn’t wants to go school and Neil and Arhaan being his parents.
“Why do you guys always do this to m–” Shaurya was saying in an irritated voice but stopped as his eyes landed on me. I saw his face turning red as he muttered with a straight face “Leave me, I’ll walk myself” and they did as he said.
“Bye” Shaurya stated before going walking back inside directly. “But sh–” Reyansh cut Neil in the middle by saying “That’s enough, let him go” disappointment was visible in his voice.
“Bhabhi jii” he exclaimed. I only become their ‘bhabhi jii’ when they have to pull out a work from me. I walked forward to him, knowing what he’s gonna say. “My cookies?” I lifted my hand, which was holding the cookies to see his face lightened.
I made these for them 5-6 days ago and they loved it alot asking me to hand them these when they go back. I remember, I saved some for Arhaan too, but he was in his ignoring phase that time, so I latter fed those to his dog. That time, I felt Arhaan and his dog’s voice same, so I didn’t felt bad either.
He took it and checked the time in his phone. “It’s time, I should go now” He said looking at Arhaan and giving him a tight hug. He gave Neil a tight hug too then coming to me.
He leaned down touching my feet. “Reyansh!” I exclaimed pulling him into a hug. “Ek choti si to wish thi meri, yaha se Zinda laut kar jana. Use bhi todne par kyun lagi ho aap?” He asked looking behind me. I turned to see Arhaan there, My eyes automatically dragged down to his lips causing my cheeks to heat up and I instantly turned forward again.
Reyansh sat inside the car and waved at us again before driving away. My eyes were automatically shutting down because of no sleep. I yawned walking inside the house. The moment I stepped on the doorstep, my phone beeped.
Without wasting a second I pulled it out to check the message, But it was just a notification of an app.
I shrugged walking back to my room. Suddenly, my foots stopped at its track recalling that I didn’t checked the message of last night when Arhaan held my phone from falling.
I instantly opened the message box and scrolled down the useless messages to find an unread message from that fucker.
Fucker : Are you gonna miss them when they go back?
I know you will, and taking care of you is my responsibility. Afterall, I’m your well-wisher.
How will they even go, when one of them will die today.
I gulped reading the last sentence. When I was busy proceeding what I just read, another message landed into my phone.
Fucker : What if the death is waiting for Reyansh on the way? So scary!
“Arhaan” I shouted loudly, he quickly ran to me after hearing me. I handed him the phone. I saw as Shaurya and Neil also ran to us and peeked inside the phone.
After completing reading it, they all rushed out in hurry. I also went there trying to call Reyansh.
His phone is switched off,How come he can keep his phone off at this time, I ran a hand over my hair.
He’s going too far. That letter writer is going too far. No-one should get hurt. No-one will get hurt. My breath is uneven. My sixth sense is signing me, something bad is going to happen.
A loud car horn pulled me out of my thoughts. “Akshara, Fast!” Arhaan shouted eyeing me to sit inside the car quickly. I sat inside the car “let’s go”
He stared at me for a second then started the car at high speed. Suddenly, he kept his hand over my hand. “Nothing will happen to Reyansh, I promise. Don’t worry” he said rubbing his thumb over my hand.
“Faster” I said leaning out of the window and checking forward. I think Shaurya and Neil might be close to Reyansh till now.
I can’t just sit and wait.
I pulled out my phone and stared at that fucker’s number, debating with myself wether I should or not.
I clicked at the call button and the phone rang for 2-3 seconds before getting picked up. For first 10 seconds, we both stayed silent. I could hear the car horns from there too. “Nothing should happen to any of them” I stated before ending the call.
I recieved a text message.
Fucker : I’d consider your request if you didn’t opposed me last night.
Calm down Akshara.
You: That wasn’t a request.
So this is how I make situations worse.
“Is that Neil?” I asked pointing at a car. Arhaan nodded. “And there he is” he said pointing a blue car, which is Reyansh’s. He’s safe.
I wonder what he has planned.
Arhaan pulled on the brakes suddenly after coming to a side. “Get out” he ordered. “No” I shook my head. “Akshara, please” He pleased me tightening his grip on my hand. “I didn’t wanted to” I muttered stepping out of the car.
I saw as he went in a high speed.
But I didn’t asked why..
Till then, I saw Neil already talking to Reyansh from the car window. Suddenly, my eyes locked onto a truck barreling towards them at full speed. This is what he had planned.
I tried to yell, but my voice just couldn’t reach them. The truck was only meters away when it swerved past them. I let out another sigh of relief.
But then, everything became silent as my eyes widened in horror, I watched in disbelief as the truck continued its reckless path, coming dangerously close to Arhaan’s car now.
My heart pounded in my chest, and a knot formed in the pit of my stomach. It felt like time had slowed down, and I could hear the sound of my own heartbeat echoing in my ears.
Just when it seemed like nothing can stop it, out of nowhere, Shaurya’s car came speeding forward from the side, attempting to shield Arhaan’s car from the impending collision.
The screeching of tires filled the air, and my breath caught in my throat as the two vehicles collided with a bone-chilling impact.
The sound of crunching metal and breaking glass echoed through the air, sending chills down my spine.
Shaurya’s car crumpled at the side, absorbing the brunt of the impact, while Arhaan’s car was pushed to the side, narrowly escaping the full force of the collision.
I took a small step forward but stopped again when the sound of sirens pierced the stillness, and the flashing lights of emergency vehicles illuminated the scene.
“He’ll be safe” Arhaan assured me, rubbing the back of my head. “It was my fault” I sobbed louder tightening the grip of my arms around his torso.
“If I read the message at time, this wouldn’t happen” I gulped. “Akshara, he…Arhaan is also hur–” Neil was interrupted by Arhaan’s “It’s okay”.
I broke the hug and looked at his arms, which is bloodied, which caused me to cry louder. “Akshara” Arhaan gasped leaning down to me. “That’s enough cryin–” he was interrupted when the doctor came out.
I ran to him. “Is he okay?” I asked wiping off my tears, which aren’t stopping. The doctor stayed silent for a moment, just like in those movies, sending chills in my body.
“Don’t worry, he’ll wake up in 1-2 hours. He’s got some minor injuries but..” I looked at him in full suspense.
“His right arm is fractured and based on the severity of the fracture, it’s important to take extra care of his arm. With proper rest and following our recommendations, there’s a good chance it will heal on its own without the surgery.” He Completed before walking away.
I glanced inside from the mirror. He’s hurt, alot. He’s got cuts all over his body “Shaurya” I heard a lady’s wobbly voice from the side, I turned there to see a old aged woman glancing inside. His mother!
She slid her hands over the glass, as a tear rolled down her cheeks as see stared at him. I stepped side to give her space. “Mere bacche ka kya haal ho gaya” she muttered running a hand over her forehead.
“Aunty, carefull” I exclaimed holding her tightly when she was about to fall down from crying. “You are?” She asked holding my hand and standing properly. “Akshara, Arhaan’s wife” I informed her.
Suddenly, she jerked away my hand,.turning away from me. “There he is” she muttered angrily walking towards Arhaan. I saw him getting nervous as she stood in front of him.
“Us bechare ko maar kar shaanti nai mili jo ab mere bacche ke piche pad gaye” She exclaimed with gritted teeths. I saw as Arhaan stood looking down, as if she’s right.
“Maine kaha tha usse, Tod de is khooni se dosti. Par meri kaha Sunni thi use, dosti ka bhoot jo sawar tha uspar” I closed my hands in fist as I stood still.
“Agar mere bacche ko kuch bhi hua to tu bhi–” I couldn’t hear her further “Aunty that’s enough, please.” She turned to look at me for a second then walked to me with determination.
“You won’t stop me once he hurts you too” I didn’t paid attention to her as my eyes were on Arhaan.
he’s standing straight, still not looking up in anyone’s eyes. Then suddenly, he rushed somewhere.
Whatever she said, affected him greatly.
I glanced at Shaurya from the window once again before walking after Arhaan.
I looked everywhere but didn’t saw him. I couldn’t guess where he went untill, my eyes landed on the elevator.
As I stepped on the roof, I saw the night sky, but there weren’t ren’t any stars in the sky. Suddenly, I realised that it’s night. I pulled out my phone to check the time, It’s 9:26pm. We’ve been here all day.
I saw him sitting near the edge again. I quietly walked towards him, keeping me from looking down and faint from horror. We are on the the 6th or 7th floor and that’s enough to scare me to shit.
I glanced inside the phone, which he was staring at.
“Who’s this now?” I snatched the phone from his hand the moment I read, Crisis
Crisis : You’ve got jealous, didn’t you? When you saw me only messaging her? So here it is for you.
Just a second ago, your wife threatened me on the call. I’m scared, a lot.
So, I’m giving you a very big offer. Very Big!
If you want to save Reyansh, If you want to end this all, and if you don’t want your sweet wife to get hurt..
You need to die today.
*I really cried typing this*
If you agree with me, then drop Akshara at side, I’ll take that as a yes and aim at you.
I looked down at Arhaan in disbelief. “And you believed this shit? Seriously?” I asked with widened eyes. He stood up, looking away from me.
“You’ve even put your life in danger to save them, What more do you expect yourself to do?” I yelled at him. “That….That fucker or crisis, whatever you want to call him, wants you to feel the guilt, the guilt of something you never did. And you, being the great real idiot, doing exact what he wants”
He kept listening to me, still not making an eye contact with me. I held his face in my palms by standing on my toes, squeezing his face and forcing his eyes on me. I’d really laugh at his face if I wasn’t this serious.
“I’m telling you this last time, last time because I’m not letting you do this another time. Nothing was your fault, neither 5 years ago, nor today! Nothing. What you’ve did is always helping your friends, and being there for them. Insert that in your chestnut sized brain” I left his head.
Now, he’s staring at me helplessly. As if he badly wants to believe me but can’t. “Promise” I said forwarding my hand to him. “Just promise me once that you won’t blame yourself ever again for his death”
He stared at my hand for a minute before slowly putting his hand over my hand. “Akshara, I’m very bad at keeping promises. I wasn’t able to keep my promise today, neither 5 years ago” he said in cold tone reminding what he promised to me today.
“But not from now on” I put my another hand on his, “You will, and we will also find that person together” I said with a big smile to cheer up his mood. “Do you think I didn’t try even a single way of finding him?” That’s what I wonder too. Wether he’s very expert but how can No-one have any idea about him?
“Yes you tried all the ways, but you didn’t had me by your side then.” He stared at me, did I said something wrong?
“I’ve talked to the lawyer, we’ll be done just in a month” he said breaking the eye contact and walking back down.
I scoffed. Does he think he has to remind me that we are gonna devorce each other, does he think I completely forgot about this?
Doesn’t it takes 6 months for divorce in the movies? How will we be done in just 1 month? I think he’s seeing an uneducated lawyer.
I stared back at the text message in Arhaan’s phone which is still with me. If we were really a husband and wife then I’d check all the girls he follows on social media and contacts like the other wifes in movies.
Suddenly, my eyes blew open! I can check! I should check! I scrolled up the message from that crisis to look for other messages. But didn’t find any.
Obviously I wouldn’t, it was 5 freaking years ago! I was about to turn off the phone but stopped. Those messages aren’t such things that someone will lose it. Even the real big idiot like Arhaan.
But before checking that, I’ve got more important thing to do. I joined my both hands and looked up in the sky.
“To pyaare, nai, adarniya (respected) Bhagwaan ji. I’m a ‘bholi bhali’ bacchi of yours who’s stuck between these crimes. Aur kuch acche ke liye kabhi kabar kuch bura to karna hi padta hai. I’m just doing this to find some more information about that fu– nai nai, prayer me aise shabd nai. That killer because of whom Arhaan is suffering.
So, pyaari kaamna ye hai ki mai to Arhaan ka phone uski permission ke bina check kar rahi hun par, Mera phone, wo kisi ke haath kabhi nai jaana chahiye. Because is bholi bhali bacchi ke phone me kuch kuch unbholi bhali chize bhi hai.
Thank you”
I wiped away the sweat from my forehead, Opening the other mails.
I scrolled down the mails as it was filled with business mails. I’m not even sure that it’d be here. He might have changed his phone in the 5 years but I don’t think he’d leave his data in that phone, being a CEO himself.
I kept scrolling through the messages untill my eyes stopped on Navya. He talks to her also? Without even my permission, my thumb fell on it, causing the chat to open. I sighed. “Now I’ll have to read the entire chat” I mumbled scrolling to the top.
They’ve chatted alot as far as I think depending on the time it took me to reach the bottom, after scrolling for 3 minutes straight. I liked the fact that most of the messages are from Navya. But he didn’t had to send even a single message. He’s partner with her father right? He should talk to him, why does that Navya have to message him?
I read the messages carefully.
N: Papa invited you for dinner at our home tonightâ£ï¸
What was the need of that heart? Huh!
You: I’ve already said no to him.
That’s something done by a person having brain, he’s not completely an Idiot.
I’ve kept reading all the messages and I felt very proud reading some of his straight rejections to parties and other meet ups and the best fact was he mostly ignored her.
But then, suddenly, I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw his one message.
You: Can we meet?
My eyes instantly went to the time, and the grip of my hand on the phone tightened as I saw 11pm.
N: Sure, Where?â£ï¸â£ï¸
Obviously, she’d not even deny it in her sleep. She requires a big surgery to let her know that, that heart is not required everywhere, especially when talking to my husband.
You: Somewhere private.
I tried to calm myself by smiling but it didn’t helped too. Private. Somewhere Private. Good!
Atleast I took his first kiss.
N: I’m calling you
There’s no more messages, because they were busy meeting somewhere in private. I smiled, I’ll need to show her, her real place.
“Bhabhii” I heard Neil’s voice pulling my focus from the phone. “You’ve also started sitting there!” He said pointing at the edge, where I’m sitting. I looked down, causing me to scream loudly before standing up and taking steps back.
I didn’t noticed when I sat there, busy in phone. I wasn’t scared last night when I sat at the edge with Arhaan, maybe because my main attention was somewhere else “Shaurya is awa—” he didn’t continued as he saw me running there.
As I opened the door walking inside. I saw Shaurya’s mom crying hard hugging him. “Mummy please stop crying” He said in uneven voice as Reyansh tried to calm her down. I looked everywhere to find Arhaan, but he wasn’t there.
I looked at Neil in confusion. “Where’s he?” I asked him. “I told him thousands of times to come in but he didn’t” he said pointing at Shaurya’s mother. He didn’t came because of her.
I walked to the waiting area to see him sitting on a chair.
I
stood in front of him, putting my hands on my hips. He didn’t even minded looking up at me, I cleared my throat. “You’re ignoring me again.” I complained sitting beside him.
“Leave me” he mumbled. “Wha–” I was interrupted by him. “Go back to your house, actually go to New York. You wanted to go there right?” I just kept looking at him in confusion.
“I’ve hurted everyone. From my mother to…my father….to my friends. Everyone. I don’t want you to come in this list now, and it’ll be only possible when you go away from me” He said holding my hand tightly.
I know him enough to know that he won’t say it suddenly without any reason. I leaned forward to check behind him, there’s nothing.
“Why you saying that?” I asked finally not after not being able to know why. He didn’t said anything, again looking down. “Will you even say something or n–” I stopped as I noticed a letter on the ground beneath his chair.
I instantly grabbed it and opened to read.
Don’t you dare say that you didn’t even realised this in these years that I can do anything, literally anything.
Except for hurting you, my dear Arhaan.
After killing Vidyut and Kia** oops sorry. Someone is trying hard to forget her, I shouldn’t take her name. Sorry again.
Let’s get to the point.
I’ve warned you before too but still, I’m warning you again. If you want her safe, then stay away from her. As much as possible.
Don’t ask me why, because I’ve got alot of reasons, and you know one of them. That is,I don’t like seeing you
happy, neither do you deserve it.
And…you’re friends are not leaving your house currently. Apologize on my behalf for their all loss they’re gonna face. Don’t worry, I’m talking about the business loss.
I folded the paper in my hand and turned to him. As I doubted before too, Vidyut wasn’t the only one to die. I turned to him. “You also know that you’ve kept a big thing from me, and I’m absolutely gonna teach you a lesson for that. But, for now I want to inform you something else.” I noticed that he wasn’t looking at me.
“Eyes here, Mr. Singhaniya” I ordered with a lot of seriousness in my tone. He looked at me in surprise. “I can do anything, literally anything, but running away.” I informed him pulling out his phone from my pocket and handing it to him.
“You sit and wait here blaming yourself all day for something you never did, I’ll go find that motherfucker and bring him to your fucking feets, because I don’t give him the right to decide wether my husband deserves happiness or not. I promise, and I always keep my promises”
