“You still haven’t answered me.” Arhaan said wearing his tie. “What?” I asked combing my hair. “What were you planning to do last night” I gulped.
“I’ve already answered you, I was covering you with blanket.” I lied again remembering the awkwardness I felt that time. “Akshara, someone has to tell you!” He said putting on his coat.
“What?” I asked tieing my hair into a ponytail. “That yo– keep it open. That you suck at lying.” I instantly pulled out the band from my hair. “I was thinking the same.” I muttered.
I smirked at his misunderstanding as I’m just about to lie, effortlessly. “And are you going somewhere?” He asked taking a step towards me.
“Yes, I’m going to meet Aaliya.” I lied as I have a gut feeling he won’t let me go if I say that I’m going to meet Sidharth. I was about to walk past him but he stopped me by holding my hand.
“You’re not going there.” I looked at him with a frown over my face. “You just told me a minute ago that you recieved another message. You’re not going anywhere alone, specially Aaliya’s home where… Sidharth also lives.”
God knows what problem he has with Sidharth.
A panic flushed over me as I realised that there is a chance that he might be leaving India anyday.
“Arhaan, let me tell you one thing that I don’t need anyone to save me.” I felt like a typical movie character saying this line. “Then let me also tell you one thing.” he said pulling me closer to him, causing me to hit his chest.
“No matter how strong you are, I’m used to saving what’s mine.” I rolled my eyes taking a step back. I expected him to say a romantic lin… “Say that again.” I said with narrowed eyes stepping forward.
I internally smiled when the one taking a step back this time was Arhaan. “What?” He asked. “Did you just called me yours?” I asked taking one more step forward, but he also didn’t stepped back this time.
“Are you not?” He asked with a smirk leaning closer to my face. “Does that mean your mine too?” I said as I felt his warm breath flushing over my face. “You’ve got any doubt?” He chuckled before walking away but soon stopped when I held his hand.
I tried to pull him but, he should really start dieting! He walked to me with a smile, noticing my efforts. “I want to hear it with your mouth Mr. Singhaniya. Say it.” I ordered
“I…” I nodded
“Am…” I smiled excitedly.
“Getting late. Good bye, and call Aaliya home if you want to, but do not go there. Do not.” He said before running out. “Fuck you!” I muttered and he turned around with a grin.
He sighed, “I was getting late, but if you insis–” I walked to him and pushed him forward. “I take my words back, now go!” I exclaimed.
“And I will go” I shouted and he turned back to me again. “Akshara I’m telling you for the third time, Please do not.” And he walked out.
I looked at the clock as 15 minutes were completed after Arhaan went out. So I think I can go now.
He just cares for nothing. I’ll just go there take Riya’s information and then come back! I’ll go to see her tomorrow. I heard someone talking in the kitchen when I was passing from there.
My foots stopped on its track when I heard a voice saying. “Thankyou, and because you helped me for the tea, I’m gonna tell you a secret.”
Who’s gonna miss this?
I stood there in suspense and suddenly, I felt guilty for listening to other’s secret, so I was about to go but then I heard something that caused me to stick to the wall and listen the conversation carefully.
“About Akshara bhabhi!” What secret is going on there about me?! “Don’t tell me that you’re talking about her loving Arhaan bhaiya because Neil Already told me.” My jaw dropped.
“That asshole lied that he is only telling me about it!” I saw Shaurya walking out with a tea cup in his hand. He already has a fracture in his right hand so I forgive him.
“Where is he?” I asked. “In Aunty’s room.” Shaurya gulped and I ran there and pushed the door open.
“And then she shouted loudly, I love hi–” I threw a book from a table near the door, directly hitting Neil on his head. “I’m sorry for throwing your book maa” I told maa, who was enjoying the story very much!
“You!” I pointed at Neil. “Just let me find a secret of yours then see how I’m getting it aired on all the fucki–” I glanced at maa. “news channels!” I warned him before walking out as I can’t take my revenge right now or I’ll get late.
As I stepped out of the house my phone vibrated and I instantly pulled it out from my purse.
Fucker: These missions of yours, these are the reason which made me take so harsh decision for you and your dear husband. I don’t like challenges.
I instantly turned behind and looked everywhere. There is no one. Then how can he know what I am doing or not? I stared at the guard with narrowed eyes, he’s the only one here.
Naah!
I stood at the same place for minutes, staring at the message I typed wether to send it or not. I finally clicked on the send and instantly put the phone back in my purse.
You: And this is why. It’s a challenge, the one ending this will be me.
“De– Respected god. Even though my ‘pati’ has warned me three-three times not to. I’d do it even if he said for million times. Afterall, I’m doing this for him. So even after there is no chance that he’ll find out, still don’t let him. I will surely pay all the due laddoos together once I complete this work perfectly. Thank you”
I wiped off the sweat from my forehead and was about to knock on Aaliya’s door when I realised my mistake of coming here. Absolutely! Her family won’t be quite happy to see me here.
But….I will have to face them someday. I knocked on the door and waited for someone to come and open it. It should be anyone but her dadi or father.
The door opened and I looked up at the person who opened the door. “You’ll live thousands of years!!!” I exclaimed hugging Aaliya tightly in happiness.
We went to her room and luckily no-one saw me. “Call your brother here.” I said and her face formed into a foul. “You’re not here to meet me?” She asked.
“Tu to dil me basti hai pagli, tujhse milne itni door aane ki jarurat thodi!” I shrugged and sat on the bed as she sighed and went out to bring Siddharth.
(You live my heart idiot, there’s no need to come and meet you this far.)
“How did you met Riya?” I asked standing up soon as he entered the room. He looked at me in confusion. “You can hear my love story comf–” I interrupted him as I’m not interested in talking about anything else than my aim.
“I’m not intr–” I took a deep breath. “I’ll listen to it some other day but for now, tell me, it’s important. How did you met her?” I asked him again and Aaliya kept staring at us both in confusion.
“We got to know each other from social media then when I came to India, We decided to meet and later we started dating.” It means he doesn’t have any idea about anything else. “Fine, give me her address.” I said and he stared at me in doubt.
“What?” I asked. “I don’t have her address.” My eyes enlarged. “You don’t know her address?!” I exclaimed in shock. “We’ve just met for 1 week, I never asked her about it.” He shrugged.
“Fine, give me her number!” I said pulling out my phone. “M-my phone, Maa just took it fr–” he was interrupted by Aaliya. “What are you doing, it’s in your pocket!” She said pointing at the phone in his pant’s pocket.
I think I’m doing a sin by doubting Sidharth but still, I instantly sent the fucker a single dot as Sidharth was finding Riya’s number in his phone.
I peeked in his phone but he didn’t recieved any message. I sighed. My eyes got back to my phone screen and I noticed an unread message.
Fucker: You’re sure going to be the one to end this, afterall, it’s always the person who started to end.
I took the number from him and kissed Aaliya on cheek “I have to go, let’s meet tomorrow. I’ve got alot to tell you.” I said before running to the door only to feel a grip over my wrist, and I turned back to see Sidharth holding it.
“You guys are getting divorced, aren’t you?” He asked as I pulled back my wrist from his grip. I stared at him in disbelief. Why is he asking me this right now?
“Absolutely..” He excitedly turned to Aaliya. “Look, I said she will!” She looked at me and said “Neil called me this morning with Shaurya’s phone and he told me something.” I know what he said.
“Be a little patient Sidharth.” I said and his brows crooked in confusion. “Absolutely not.” I cleared before walking out from there.
“Akshara what did you meant by that?!” I heard Sidharth’s shout as I stepped out the main door and turned behind to see him running to me.
“Actually I want to ask what do you have to do with it?” I asked him. “Tell me.” He said holding me tightly by my arms. “Did he threatened you?” He asked.
“Sidharth leave me!” I exclaimed trying to jerk his hand off but he didn’t moved back. “Did h–” I cut him in the middle. “Sidharth have you lost your fucking mind?! Leave me now or–” I took in a sharp breath when someone punched him on his cheek, causing him to stumble to the door.
“It was my mistake.” Arhaan said pulling Sidharth by his throat. “Ar-Arhaan..please stop.” I said holding his another hand lightly. He turned to me, the only thing I could see in his eyes was rage.
“I would, only if you did when I asked you to.” He said before delivering another punch to Sidharth on his chest.
I noticed as Sidharth raised his fist to punch Arhaan but soon stopped when he looked at me.
“It was my fucking mistake to not warn you about what I will do if you even breath in her direction.” Arhaan hissed with greeted teeth.
He punched Sidharth again on his mouth, causing it to bleed. “Arhaan that’s enough please.” I tightly held his arms and he looked at me. “Please.” I breathed, and he finally stood up straight.
“Sidharth!” I heard Aaliya’s scream and I saw her entire family i.e. Her father, mother and dadi running to us.
“How dare you do this to my son!” Her father exclaimed with greeted teeths holding Siddharth’s face in his hand and looking at his wounds carefully. “It’s nothing Papa, he just mistook me.” Sidharth said in pain but No-one paid attention to it.
Then his father’s eyes landed on me and I took a step back closing my eyes tightly. He already doesn’t likes me as he thinks it’s me who spoiler there daughter.
“Don’t worry, I won’t yell at you because a girl like you is not even worth tal—-” Arhaan interrupted him in the middle by pulling me closer to him. “You won’t yell at her because No-one gets to even raise their voice in front of my girl. Not even me myself.”
“Just watch the charges I put–” Aaliya interrupted him in the middle “Papa–” but she stopped soon when she looked in his glaring eyes. “Don’t forget my warning, or you won’t be even able to charge a complain against me last time.” Arhaan said pointing at Sidharth before tightening his grip on my hand and dragging me towards his car in front of us.
“Where are we going on dinner?” I asked as he kept silent. “Are you mad at me?” I asked and I noticed I can’t control my voice from sounding like I’ll just break into tears. I know that Aaliya’s family is never gonna forgive me anymore.
I saw as he forwarded his handkerchief to me. “Say you’re not mad at me, then I will use it.” I told him folding my hands. “I’m not.” He said stopping the car and leaning closer to me. “Don’t shed those precious tears for some cheap people.” He said taking my face in his hand and wiping off a tear rolling down my cheek.
I stepped out of the car as he told me that he has some work left at his office. “Wait.” I said turning back to him. “How did you got there?” I asked from the window.
“Reyansh mentioned you going to Aaliya’s home in the middle of our conversation.” He answered and I was about to walk inside but he called my name stopping me again.
“Be ready, I’ll be picking you up at 8pm.” I smiled and nodded as he drove away.
This is the time, to use the three monkeys.
“Naah, you’re not writing a business proposal Shaurya! Write again!” I exclaimed after reading his formal love confession speech.
“You’ve absolutely asked the wrong person for it, take my help and Arhaan will end up falling for you from your confession, even if he doesn’t loves you now.” Neil said and I turned to Reyansh.
“But you told me that you’re hundred percent sure that he also loves me.” I complained. “Yes he does.” He answered hitting Neil on his head. “Fine you write it.” They said that a prepared confession is way better.
I pulled out 3 clothes form the wardrobe and held them all in my hand turning to them. “Which one?” The moment I said they all became tensed.
“I think the red” Neil answered. “No, the green one.” Shaurya said. “The black is better!” Reyansh exclaimed. “Or maybe black is really better.” Neil said again. “But Red is also good.” Shaurya said. “I think the green will suit you better.” Reyansh said.
I sighed “I better choose myself.” I said looking at the dresses and smiling when I decided which one.
“You guys keep the confession ready, I’m coming in a minute.” I said before walking inside the washroom.
“I’m ready!” I exclaimed looking at my reflection in the mirror.
I stared at the wall clock as it’s 8:17 now. He might be coming any minute.
“He might have got stucked in some important work, otherwise he’d never make you wait.” Shaurya said peeping from the door with others as it’s passed 9pm now. “Just half an hour more” I said to myself.
I put on a coat and grabbed the car key walking out. I’ve tried calling him multiple times but he didn’t picked up.
I drove the car at high speed as I also want to check the important work he got stuck in.
I walked inside his office, everyone’s eyes were on me as I kept walking towards his cabin.
I saw him just sitting on his chair with his head resting on his hands as I entered inside. “Mr. Sharma can you give us a minute?” I asked his secretary and he nodded walking out.
“You asked me to be ready at 8pm and right now it’s fucking 10:30!” I exclaimed walking forward to him as he looked at me.
“Let’s cancel the plan.” He said standing up. “For what? Why?” I asked instantly but he didn’t replied. “Fine, but I’m not cancelling my plan.” He looked at me with curiosity.
Should I really?
I gulped, when I realised I didn’t even brought the speech Neil wrote for me. I can’t keep it inside me for long.
It doesn’t even looks like he’s got more work to do anymore, so it’s not a bad time either. And in case, just in case he doesn’t likes me back, nothing is changing because he’s already my husband.
“I think I lo–” he interrupted me in the middle by handing over a paper to me. “Couldn’t you wait a mome–” I took in a sharp breath when I read the title.”
Divorce Agreement.
I scoffed, “You’re lawyer was late.” I said trying to show that it doesn’t mean what I think.
“Sign.” I took a step back in disbelief. “What if I say that I don’t want to?” I asked. “That doesn’t matter.” He said breaking the eye contact with me and looking at the side.
“It does.” I muttered again looking back at the paper my eyes widened as I saw his signature already there.
I gathered the courage to look back in eyes and ask “You don’t….love me?” He didn’t replied.
I stood there for a minute trying to control whatever I felt.
“Just say it once looking in my eyes and we are done.” I said, my voice trembling with vulnerability and he slowly met his eyes with mine.
I smiled at him, because if I wouldn’t, I couldn’t control the tears in my eyes.
“I don’t love you.” I felt a burning tear rolling down my cheek. And it was enough for me to realise that the movies, series, everything was wrong.
It doesn’t takes effort to lie even though looking in the eyes of a person you love.
“Your eyes betrayed you.” I said walking to the desk and grabbing a pen. I was about to sign but my eyes landed on a envelope sent by:
Akshara’s Wellwisher
I noticed another tear falling on the divorce paper from my eyes as I signed it. I took the paper in my hand and walked to Arhaan again. “Here, take it, and sorry for all the inconveniences you faced because of me.” I said and was about to walk out when I stopped.
“You know what my mistake was?” I asked putting my hand at the back of my neck and opening the ‘mangalsutra’ that I was wearing.
I walked to Arhaan and put it in his hands as I didn’t minded hiding my tears this time.
“I loved a coward.”
