He really locked me inside, not worrying about my wounded feet either.

No worries!

Before going anywhere, I better change my clothes rather than keeping my all focus over fixing my saree all the time.

I put on a plain tshirt and a baggy jeans, tying my hair into a ponytail. I stared at my reflection, I really regret choosing doctor instead of a detective. I’d be a world famous detective If I chose to become one for sure.

I took my phone from the table. My phone is still at my house, actually my second house, no! My first house. Arhaan gave this to me until that is not repaired as Papa might have probably gave it for reparing.

I glanced down the window and imagined myself on wheelchair already because that’s what gonna happen when I jump from the second floor.

My eyes soon fell on Shaurya walking out with his eyes on phone before I called him loudly.

“Come up here, quickly!” I yelled and he stared at me confusing before running inside from there.

Arhaan didn’t expected locking me here can stop me, did he?

I heard the sound of door knob turning before he opened the door and looked all around.

“What? You shouted as if there was something urgent..” I looked at him and I guess he was about to go his office.

“You’ve got time?” I asked him and he slightly nodded, which looked like he didn’t really had.

I realised it at night before sleeping that I’m missing a very big clue of Vidyut, his family! I can know many things from them.

“What?” He asked sitting down on a chair and I also sat on my bed. “Where is Vidyut’s family now?” I asked him and his bored eyes suddenly lightened.

“Why are you asking?” He asked back. “You answer it.” I said shrugging and he rose a brow at me.

“I’m not telling you anything, Arhaan has asked us not to tell you anything even if you request. And I think he’s right. We are trying, you don’t need to get yourself in any danger.” He said before sitting up and walking towards the door.

They are trying, that is why he isn’t caught yet.

“Don’t you dare step out of the room or I’ll be telling your mother that your hand is still not well!” I said and turned my head away to avoid his stare. I heard him talking to his mother telling that his hand is absolutely fine now.

“Seriously?” He asked with narrowed eyes. I didn’t had anything else to blackmail him.

“He only had a mother who died on the exact same date of his death after a month.” He said and my jaw dropped right away in shock.

Shaurya’s father also died a year ago Vidyut’s death, Arhaan told me the day I met Shaurya’s mother for first time, and it was also the reason why his mother was that frightened.

“How?” I asked and he walked back to the sofa as if he knew it’s not going to be short enough. “Road Accident.” I gasped standing up from the bed.

“I’m pretty sure it was also-” He cut me in the middle. “It wasn’t him.” causing me to sit back and listen further.

“She was walking on the road when a taxi driver mistakenly hit her. He was fined and sentenced for years too.” I still found it hard to digest the fact that it wasn’t him.

That fucker could have a reason to kill her also if he killed her son.

“Where did it happened?” I asked him as he stood up again. He pressured his mind remembering before telling me the road name.

That’s the same road where Arhaan’s office is.

“What if she was going to meet Arhaan?” I asked Shaurya and he shook his head.

“She hated him, she won’t. Half of his trauma is all about her words. She never really liked him, but still he decided to go meet her after her son’s death being the biggest rumoured suspect himself before hearing her poisonous words.” Shaurya said again checking his watch.

No Akshara, you can’t think bad about a dead person.

What if she was also killed by that fucker, he could pay that taxi driver for that too. In the last thrill movie I saw, they caught the killer that way too.

What if I go there and ask him and it is really how I think and he ends up telling me the name of that fucker and I find him.

I need answer for all the what ifs and going to a police station can’t be wrong in Arhaan’s eyes also, excepting the reason. To meet a murderer.

“I think you’re getting late for your office. You can go now!” I said standing up from the bed after finally getting out all the information about that driver from him after many requests.

I ran out of the room avoiding the sharp pain of my feet and slowed down in the garden when Aaliya called me.

“I want to meet you.” She said instantly as I picked up. “But I’m on a mission today! What about tomorrow?” I asked.

I heard her sigh before saying. “Which one this time?” It more sounded like a yawn and I realised she’s got no interest in knowing which one.

“Finding your husband. Wanna join?” I asked and she giggled before answering, “I’m just coming back from another blind dat-” I cut her in the middle tightening the grip around my phone.

“Listen, I’ve told you already. If it’s necessary then go, but don’t you dare choose any of those chimpanzees that your father always chooses only looking over wealth and family!” I said and she remained silent and I doubted if she liked the one she met today.

“Did you liked the one you went out with today?!” I gasped. “Not really..” She said as if she’s hiding something from me and I didn’t pointed it out because I’d be knowing everything once we meet.

Actually it’s also good if she really likes someone because I want her to get all the love she deserves, and for that, I’ll be examining the guy first.

Just then my brain lightened. “What do you think about Shaurya? If not him then Reyansh? I won’t suggest you Neil because he annoys a lot.” I said and regretted soon as it sounded weird using them all as an option to her.

“You…continue your mission. Good luck!” She said before ending the call and I sighed turning back towards the main door.

“AAAHH!!” I screamed seeing another version of Neil standing in front of me.

“Dhokha apne hi dete hai, janta tha.” He said and I crooked my brows in confusion.

“It’s you! Because of whom I’m single till date. How many of other girls you said this to? Who did you even said it now?” He said and I let out an awkward laugh.

“I was just joking..” He looked at me with narrowed eyes before looking down sadly and blurting. “It was also me who made you realise your love for Arhaan, and this is how you returned you favour?” He said and suddenly I really started feeling guilty as if I really did something.

I was about to say something when my phone buzzed and I instantly pulled out it out as it’s only one person whom I expect nowadays.

I saw the Id unknown because this is my new phone and it’s concerning if that fucker found my new number too as I’ve just shared it with important people yet.

UNKNOWN: A letter for you in the letter box.

I kept staring at it wondering how come he got my number so soon when a paper came in front of my eyes blocking my view from the screen.

I looked up at Neil holding the paper to me. “It’s the time. Prove it.” He said and I confusingly grabbed the paper as it was already unfolded.

“What’s this!” I exclaimed looking at the poor handwriting that’s almost hard to read. It’s absolutely written when he was missing his train.

“Prove that you didn’t failed your mbbs!” Neil said and I shot him a glare before carefully digging my eyes in the letter.

A first and last chance to make this letter the last letter from me, do no try to do anything and be happy in what you have or else, be ready to lose all. Because this time I’m convinced to end it.

I read it aloud to him too.

I controlled the urge of calling him and laughing at his offer because I’ve got no plans of even considering it for once.

The only time I’ll be really happy will be when my Arhaan will be free from all the fake accusations and nightmares. Which is all because of him, so just handing him to police won’t be enough too.

“I’ll be first pulling out his all nails, then I’ll be cutting his finger too if still not satisfied. At the end, I’ll be putting boiling water over him.” I said as my expression kept changing scarily.

“What if it’s a girl? You won’t do any partiality, right?” Neil asked.

My face darkened. “If by any chance it’s a girl, I’ll be dragging her to the torturing place with her hair”

“But what if she’s bald?”

“Then I’ll marry her off to you.”

He shot me a glare before his phone started ringing and he picked up walking away from me.

I again came back to my mission.

I stepped out the door and looked at two guards standing out the door which were different from the other guards.

I took two steps forward and noticed one taking a step in my direction too before I walked inside again.

So Arhaan hired guards for me? I’d not mind them if I didn’t had to go to place he shouldn’t know.

I smirked taking the back door and sitting inside the car before driving to the police station that driver is in.

I stared at the big police station from inside the car.

Am I doubting too much?

It can be really that driver who mistakenly hit her and I might be just overthin-

My thoughts stopped soon as I saw Neil walking out from inside.

But what was he doing here?

I stepped out from the car as he drove away again.

He might be also searching for some clues just like me maybe. Maybe.

I also walked inside and just looked all around with widen eyes as I saw two men debating with each other and the officer also looked pissed at them causing me to refrain from going and asking him about that driver.

“Any help, miss?” I heard a gentle voice from beside me and I looked up there to see a man in uniform standing with a smile looking at me too deeply.

“Umm..y-yes I’m looking for..” I stopped biting my lips as I forgot his name. “V… he’s a taxi driver, his name starts wit-” He cut me in the middle. “Vikas?” He asked and I nodded rapidly.

“Let me show you the way.” He said signing me with his hand to walk forward with another big smile. I gave him a side eye before walking forward.

“You got another visitor today! Has something happened?” He said peering inside the cell and I crooked a brow at it. I looked inside when a man with heavy moustache and beard stood holding the cells with his both hands in the filmy pose.

He kept chewing even though nothing was in his mouth and looked up down at me with bored eyes before asking. “What?” I glanced beside the police standing beside me.

Can I ask for privacy here?

“I..I have to talk about his bank account, in private.” I said and he chuckled before stepping away.

“Madam, are you gonna start or no-” I cut him in the middle. “Did you really committed that accident?” His eyes enlarged and he stared at me in doubt before nodding rapidly and stronger than needed, as if, scared.

“He sent you, didn’t he? Tell him. I’m not telling anyone about it, but nothing should happen to my family.” I gasped before asking “Who?”

His hands around the cells loosened and he again said. “I’m not telling it to anyone. I swear, tell him.” He said again before I motioned with my hand to cool down.

“I’m asking you who it is? Who’s threatening you?” I asked him again and he’s face suddenly tightened as he realised that I had no idea about it. “No-one.” He said shaking his head before turning away and walking inside.

“If you tell me the name, I’ll take the guarantee of your family’s safety. I swear!” I said stopping him on his tracks and he again rushed to me.

“I don’t know his name, he only came here after years to only threaten me for telling anyone about it.” He said emotionally.”Tell anyone about what?” I asked again.

“That..” he took a short break as if again considering wether to tell it or not. “It wasn’t me who killed that lady.” I wanted to tap my back for not going back before knowing the truth.

“Do you know nothing about him, anything that could help me identify him?” I asked hopefully. He thought long, sometime turning his face to the left, sometime right, or up. I kept waiting before he shouted “Yes! His h-” he stopped soon with widen eyes, looking behind me. I looked back and saw the same officer standing steps away from us.

“I don’t know anything!” He said shaking his hand in air before walking inside and sitting down against the wall. I tried to request him multiple times, offered money but he didn’t convince.

I sighed before walking out with disappointment.

“Miss? Wait!” I heard a shout from behind as I was just standing on the road in front of my car. I turned around to see the same officer again. “Yes?” I asked.

“Are you done? Or you need more help?” He asked me and I was about to shook my head when something striked to my mind.

“Can you tell me who came to visit…Mr. Vikas before me?” I asked and he folded his arms thinking loudly. “Ummmmm”

“I don’t quite remember as I see many people here, but I can send you his image after getting the cameras checked.” I smiled excitedly. “Thank you so much! I have to go now.” I said before holding my car’s door before he stopped me.

“You’ll need to give me your number for that!” I turned back and stared at him. Neither the phone is mine for too long, nor the number. “Write down..9835–” he noted it and showed me the screen.

Vikas’s visitor’s image.

I showed him a thumbs up before sitting inside my car and driving off.

I was slowly driving my car towards home as I didn’t wanted to go back without any information. Just then my brain hit me and I stopped the car before calling Aaliya again.

“Hello.”

“-yes all those are mine, you go break some from the garden if you want to! Haan bolo Akshara.” She said earning a scoff from me.

“What were you even talking about ?”

“No Mam, you are busy in your missions don’t forget that and blurt what you called for.” She said and I could feel her disappointment through the phone too. She has absolutely being trying to meet me for long but it’s me who always rejects. But I also have reasons too.

“Meet me. Now! Not your home but at the park near it.” I said and she shouted. “Really?” I felt a lot of guilt before saying, “And…Bring the letter you received by Arhaan’s name on it the day before..my marriage?” She stayed silent.

“I’ll check if I have it, come there until then.” She said before ending the call.

I kept driving before my phone buzzed again and I stopped instantly checking the phone.

UNKNOWN : You rejected my offer.

UNKNOWN : I’m now tired of you.

UKKNOWN : And you know what I do to people when I’m tired of them? The same I did with the man at cafe that day.

I tried to calm my heavy breathing, I can’t get scared by this fucker.

“I’M NOT SCARED OF YOU, You got it?!” I yelled at the phone in irrigation before looking back at the road again and my phone buzzed again.

UNKNOWN : How about as long as the person in danger is not you?

I doubted it from the very start! He’s hacked my phone’s mic! But this one too?!

I jerked my phone on the seat beside me and started driving again before again my phone buzzed and I took it back irritatingly checking the message but this time, it was a picture.

A picture of Shaurya cheesing at the camera with a coffee in front of the table with a cafe in background.

There was a note attached to it also.

UNKNOWN: People with broken hand should stay at home when they’ve got a person like me behind them. (Fun fact: I’ve stopped them all here for this moment! Of course because I can’t hurt Arhaan and you are indeed fearless, until the fear doesn’t comes in front of you.

Stop right there, whatever you’re trying to do if you want him safe.

I felt my blood boiling because of the helplessness before calling Shaurya.

“Where are you?” I asked.

“In a cafe…why?” He asked back.

“Did you just clicked a picture?”

“Ohh yes, two foreigners were clicking pictures and they requested if they can click me too and I allowed. But wait, how do you know it?” He said and I ended the call before calling Aaliya again.

Whatever it is I can’t meet her right now to put her in any danger too.

“Don’t co-” she cut me.

“I had putten the picture here but I can’t find it, I’ll send you the picture once I find it and I can’t come now also because maa has asked me to help her in some work.” She said and I agreed to it before ending the call again.

I just wanted to match the handwriting of that letter with the others in case it was also written by him, still unaware of his intentions

My eyes again fell on the texts he sent me and my jaw tightened. I’m not going to stop from what I was planning to do.

I leaned my head out of the window to check if anyone is keeping an eye on me but couldn’t come to any conclusion as there were many vehicles on the road.

That fucker can hear my voice from the mic, but I won’t be saying anything.

But he can track me too..

I grabbed my phone and leaned my hand out the window again but stopped.

I might need to call, so I can’t throw it either.

If it was really him who killed Vidyut’s mother too, she might have also recieved some letters or there might be a reason for killing her.

And there’s only one way to find out.

I drove the car at highest speed as I knew where I had to go now.

I stopped my car and stepped out in front of a house that is not in a very good state anymore.

Just then my phone started ringing and I glanced down at the caller ID causing me to take in a sharp breath.

I can’t tell Arhaan that I’m here, or he’ll tell me to go back right away.

I just kept staring at the phone before it ended itself. I took a deep breath before taking a step forward when he called again.

I can ignore it and tell him later that I was busy in something, I just don’t want to lie to him either.

The call ended again before it again started ringing and this time I picked it up.

“Where are yo-” I cut him taking in a long breath and shouting with full act. “Noodle stop, you’re annoying me! Go out!”

“Yeah, so what were you asking? Where am I? What do you expect from me? I’m absolutely home and I’m trying baking cookies for me.” I said nervously and it sounded so easy to caught me lying.

I heard a horn and turned behind to see a car and the driver motioning me to step aside. I closed my eyes tightly walking aside..”What was that then?” He asked.

I laughed awkwardly unaware what I have to say next when Vansh came to my mind in a form of God. “That….Vansh!!! He’s playing with his toy car.” I shouted. I’ll gift him 10 lollipops once I go back.

“Akshara, where are you?” He asked so firmly and seriously and I realised there’s no benifit of lying anymore.

“I can’t tell you, you’ll get mad at me.” I said looking again at the house.

“Akshara..where are you?” He asked again.

“I swear Arhaan, I’ll be coming back in an hour. Safely!” I blurted before ending the call and running inside, I found the door open and it was suspicious. But I didn’t had time to stand there and inspect that too.

I walked through the living room and it looked exactly like no one has ever visited here after her death. I saw sticky notes on the wall with some daily routines.

I stepped inside a room and it was filled with books all about business. It might be Vidyut’s room. I looked all over the room but found nothing.

I was looked through all the drawers at last  but still found nothing useful. I was about to shut a drawer when I found a Polaroid picture.

I grabbed it to see Arhaan in it. It was his high school time picture, they both were in the uniform but something had been spilled on Vidyut’s face part. I unknowingly smiled looking at Arhaan’s wide smile putting his arms over Vidyut’s shoulder with bags on.

I suddenly realised I should focus on what I am here for and soon leave.

I kept the picture in my jeans pocket before walking into another room. I realised it was his mother’s room soon after looking at a frame on the bedside table.

A frame of his mother standing happily with a boy hugging her from back, that is maybe Vidyut but again, his face is blocked with a blue paint as if it was done intentionally. If it was a red paint, it’d be more thriller.

I looked at the drawers again and opened them line by line when I found a paper in the third one before I instantly grabbed it and read it.

Try it and see how you die before you even meet him.

I soon heard a notification and checked it instantly expecting it to be that fucker but Aaliya.

I sighed putting the phone back but again my brain hit me and I checked the message to find a picture. She sent me the picture of the letter.

I quickly matched it with the one in my hand and it completely matched.

My phone buzzed again and I checked the message again to find an unknown number but it was also a photo and my breathing rose as I saw who was in it and realised it’s sent by that police.

I kept staring at the person in picture, who went there and probably also threatened that driver.

Suddenly everything started falling into place.

I exited all and gasped when I saw 16 missed calls of Arhaan because I had putten my phone on mute.

I called him and it rang 2 times before being picked up.

“Where are you?” He yelled loudly soon.

“Ar-Arhaan I-I know who it Is-” He again cut me in the middle.

“Where the hell are you Akshara please tell me!!” He shouted through the phone and suddenly I felt my eyes going teary.

I pulled away the phone from my ear glancing at the picture again before saying.

“T-the one who did it all was-” I took in a sharp breath as my entire body started shaking when I heard a gunshot, soon my eyes fell on my phone to see a bullethole completely at the centre.

I kept staring at the broken screen when I slowly grabbed a paper cutter from the drawer in front of me with my shaky hand as I could see the reflection of him standing right behind me, confirming my suspicion.

I slowly stood up before turning behind and facing him who was looking at me with the same warm smile he always gave me.

“You know right? What it means to coming in front of you?” He asked.

“Why…” I whispered lightly and he smirked turning his head aside.

“That’s too long story! But you’ll surely die after discovering it all. I swear.” He said pinching his neck with his left hand and I stared at his right broken hand.

“This? It did really hurted when I had to hurt myself to save that punk. Nevermind!” He sighed.

“Why..” I asked again as I felt a tear rolling down my cheeks. “Don’t cry, I don’t like it when my dear Akshara bhabhi cries..” He said and I tightened the grip of the cutter in my hand.

“You know what? We wouldn’t be here. You wouldn’t be here, only if you knew that before solving someone’s murder mystery, you should atleast know who it was.” He said causing me to crook my brows confusingly.

“You won’t understand it before I show you, right?” He asked me with a grin, pulling out his phone and scrolling through it.

“I had to cover all his pictures before you came here only because I was dying! Dying to see your reaction with my this very own eyes!” He said before his fingers stopped at a place and he glanced at me before turning his phone to me.

My eyes widened with heavy breaths as soon as I looked at the person’s picture. I looked up at him again expecting him to slide the picture and say that he showed me the wrong person, because I didn’t wanted to believe that the person in the picture was Vidyut.

“React fast! We are getting late!”

“Him?”
