Y/N POV
Oh man, the girls are going to kill me for being late to meet up with them especially since we haven’t been able to meet up since we’ve all been super busy with classes. I think to myself as I continue to run towards the park from my apartment but luckily for me, my apartment building wasn’t too far away from the park so the girls shouldn’t be too mad. Finally, after running for what seemed like hours, I start to see the pathway that led toward the group’s hidden meeting spot so I decided that I can slow my pace down to a nice walking speed.
“Oh damn!” I say out loud as I stop before remembering that I agreed to let Carol tag along with me and Monica and I just hope that the girls aren’t upset that I invited someone else to girls’ day. Carol is a nice girl that I met during freshman year in my intro to psychology class. My best friend Monica recognized her when we walked in and introduced us since Carol is a friend of the Rambeau family. We don’t hang out too much since we’re in different friend groups, but she comes around sometimes when the whole group is together. She’s a cool girl but I don’t hang out with her too often since it seems like she and Wanda don’t get along all too well.
Speaking of Wanda, I miss her so much. I mean I miss all the other girls too, but I haven’t seen Wanda in over two weeks. And it’s felt like the longest two weeks of my life, especially since this longest amount of time that we’ve gone without seeing each. Wanda, Nat, Maria, Monica, and I have all been friends since we were in middle school, and geez that seems like such a long time ago especially since we’re all seniors at New York University now. Wanda and I have always been pretty close and if I’m being honest, I’ve always sort of had a crush on her but I’m too scared to mess up our friendship to make a move on her.
As I get closer to our spot, I see the bushes that block off this secluded part of the park but I stop when I hear a voice say, “I’m game if you are Maximoff, unless, of course, you’re scared.” There’s a second of silence before I hear a second voice speak up and respond with “I have nothing to be scared of, so game on Danvers.” That was Carol and Wanda talking to each other, but as far as I was aware they weren’t overly fond of each other so what could they be talking about? Wanda sounded pretty serious, so it has to be something serious, but her voice also had an edge to it that I’d never heard from her.
I shake my head and decide that I should probably stop standing around listening to a conversation that I didn’t understand and finally step through the bushes. Once I got through the bushes, I saw Wanda and Carol shaking hands with each other. Carol was wearing a smirk on her face while Wanda looked determined, and I cleared my throat to get their attention before finally speaking. “Umm… Hey guys what’s up?” I say while quirking a brow which gains everyone’s attention and makes Carol and Wanda drop each other’s hands. Everyone is quiet for a moment before Natasha breaks the silence by saying “you are 10 minutes late idiot that’s what’s up.”
I playfully roll my eyes at her before rubbing the back of my neck and chuckling slightly. “Yeah, sorry about that I kind of overslept a bit,” I say with a slight grin on my face before heading over to greet everyone as I give hugs to Nat and Maria. I give Monica a fist bump and she gives me a look that says that we need to talk later, and I nod to her in acknowledgment. I head over to Carol who I give a short hug before quickly pulling away to say, “Hey Carol glad that you could make it.” She gives me one of her regular smirks and nods in agreement. “I could never turn down an offer from you.” She says in a flirty tone which makes me laugh slightly since that’s a very Carol response.
I look away from her to look at the brunette that I’ve been waiting for ages to see, and a giant smile breaks out on my face as well as hers as I pull her into a long and tight hug. “Y/N/N!! I missed you so much, I never wanna go that long without hanging out ever again,” she says while pouting and pulling away slightly while remaining in my arms that are wrapped around her waist. I grin at her and chuckle lightly as I tell her “Hey Wands, I missed you too and I agree with you because those were the longest two weeks of my life! But I’m here now though so stop pouting.” She stops pouting and gives me one of her dazzling smiles while playing with the baby hairs at the nape of my neck.
“Ok fine I’ll stop pouting because I know just how much it affects you,” she says while shooting me a playful grin. I playfully roll my eyes at her before mumbling a quiet ‘whatever’ under my breath making her giggle and the sound brings a smile to my face. A throat clearing brings both of us out of our little moment and we break apart and look over to see the other girls staring at us with a variety of expressions. Monica has a cheesy grin on her face and wiggles her eyebrows at me discreetly. Maria has a knowing smile on her face and Carol has a slight scowl on her face as she looks between Wanda and me. And Natasha of course has a smirk on her face.
I look back over at Wanda and see that her face is flushed and that she is looking anywhere except in my direction and mumbling a quiet ‘oh my god.’ “If you two lovebirds are done gazing into each other’s eyes then we have some important business to get to.” Of course, that comment would come from none other than Natasha herself which makes me scoff slightly but blush, nonetheless.Â
“Alright so what exactly is this oh-so-important business that you speak of Nat?” I say as I throw an arm over Wanda’s shoulder and lead her over to where our friends are sitting on the ground. “Spring break Y/N. Spring break is our important business. Don’t tell me that you’ve forgotten about our tradition of spending spring break together.” Nat says in a tone that says that this is something that I should have already known.
“Right! So, what’s the plan for this year? I assume that we’re doing something big since it’s our last spring break before graduation.” I state in a questioning manner. “Bingo! Looks like you aren’t as much of an idiot as you seem to be.” Nat says with a big grin on her face while looking at me as the rest of the group laughs and I playfully scoff at her while Maria smacks Nat’s arm.
“Nat and I were talking on the way here and we were thinking that maybe it’d be fun to travel somewhere preferably sunny and with a beach for the two weeks of break,” Maria suggests to the group earning a few thoughtful and agreeable murmurs among the group. “Well, if we’re thinking of a trip then maybe we should do a big group thing with the whole group to make it memorable for everyone, right?” Wanda inquires about the group.
Everyone gives it some thought while Carol says, “I don’t know Maximoff wouldn’t that just make things even harder to plan with a bigger group?” Wanda shoots Carol a glare and goes to respond but I interrupt her before she has a chance. “I think that Wanda has a point though Carol. Since this is our last chance to do a group trip, I think that it could still be worth it.”Â
Wanda sends Carol a satisfied smirk and Carol glares slightly at Wanda before looking over in my direction and nodding her head in agreement. Monica decides to ask the group a question “So, then who all is coming on this trip? And where exactly should we go?” Carol simply shrugs since it is not her trip. The rest of the girls remain quiet for a moment and think about it until I decide to speak up.Â
“Well, we’re for sure inviting all the guys, so Steve, Bucky, Tony, Thor, Bruce, Clint, and Pietro for sure and then knowing Tony, he’ll probably bring his older brother Vision. And then I plan on bringing Kate and I assume that you’re gonna bring Yelena right Nat?” Natasha nods her head at Y/N and says “Yeah, I’m going to bring her along and I think that’s everyone isn’t it?” Wanda, Maria, and Monica all nod their heads except Y/N who stays quiet for a moment before saying “Carol did you want to invite anyone along?”
