Natasha’s POV
Two Days Earlier…
“There’s absolutely no way that you believe that Y/N is more likely to end up with Carol than with Wanda! Everyone in this room knows that Y/N is basically in love with Wanda!” I exclaim to the absolute idiot in front of me who clearly doesn’t know anything about women. “Natasha, it’s pretty obvious that Y/N is into Danvers. I mean come on why else would she ask her to come to hang out with us so much? Even you have to agree that there’s no way that Y/N isn’t over her little crush on Maximoff by now. She doesn’t get nervous or anything around her anymore so it’s obvious that she’s over it, just admit that I’m right already.” Stark states confidently and it has become that much more apparent to me that he truly is an idiot.
I am absolutely flabbergasted by his logic and as I look around at the rest of our friends I find that they are seemingly just enjoying the show. And then suddenly like lightning, I am struck with an idea. I look over at Maria and smirk in her direction causing her to chuckle and shake her head at me knowing that I am up to no good. Then I look over at Monica who also seems to catch onto what I’m about to do.
I look at Tony with a smirk painted on my face before saying “How about you put your money where your mouth is Tony, how about a simple wager?” He looks over at me with interest and says, “What kind of wager Romanoff?” Hook, line, and sinker. I think to myself causing the smirk on my face to grow. “I bet you $100 that Y/N and Wanda will end up together by the end of spring break.”
He seems to mull over my offer before saying “And I bet you $100 that Y/N will not only end up with Danvers, but I also bet another $100 that Maximoff will end up with Vision.” He looks at me with a cocky grin and I give him a confident smirk in return as I hold out my hand to him to shake it which he does. “Guys, come on isn’t it a bit wrong to be betting on Wanda and Y/N’s love life like this?” Steve says to both of us while crossing his arms over his chest and giving us a stern look.
I simply smile at him and say “This is more about me proving just how little Stark knows about women than anything else Steve. Because it’s like I said everyone here, except Tony that is, knows that Y/N and Wanda have feelings for each other. Therefore it is more about proving that Tony is an idiot than it is about their love lives.” Steve just sighs and shakes his head at me before shrugging in defeat.
“Well, I don’t know about the rest of you guys, but I got $20 on Nat winning this bet.” We all look over at Pietro who is currently sipping on his drink while waving a $20 bill making me laugh knowing that the Sokovian boy also sees what a disaster his twin and our friend are when it comes to each other. “Well, Pietro I’ll counter your side bet by saying that I’ve got $20 on Stark winning.”
We look over at Thor holding up his own money and it makes me shake my head at the poor sap that was going to lose his money. In the end, Thor, Bruce, and Clint ended up betting that Tony would win, and Steve, Bucky, and Pietro all sided with me while Maria and Monica refused to bet since they knew how this would end. “Okay so now that all bets are finalized, how are we going to get the ball rolling on this Romanoff?” Tony inquired causing everyone to look over at me which makes me grin widely.
“How does everyone feel about joining us girls on our yearly tradition and going on a trip for spring break?” Everyone looked at each other before cheering and saying that they were in making me laugh. “Alright so Maria and I will bring up the idea to the girls which they will probably agree to and then Monica will make it so that Carol is also present,” I say to the group making them nod at me and when I look at Tony, he has an eyebrow raised at me.
“Okay, but how are we going to see who ends up with who?” I chuckle slightly before saying “That’s the easy part Stark. What do Wanda and Danvers do best when they are around each other?” He thinks for a moment before saying “fight with each other?” which makes me nod “Exactly! So, all we have to do is allow them to win what they both so desperately want. And to do that we make them have a competition.” I state with a grin.
Present Day…
“Those two are just so oblivious to how they feel about each other aren’t they?” I say as I watch Y/N try to run after an angry Wanda and sigh in exasperation. Monica laughs out loud saying “We genuinely have the dumbest best friends on the planet Nat.” I laugh in response and Maria smacks the both of us causing our laughter to stop and making me pout at her. “No. Don’t you pout at me, you two need to stop making fun of our hopeless friends. Also, we used to be just as clueless as them, so I don’t know why you’re laughing babe.” Monica laughs hysterically at Maria’s remark as my cheeks flush before I go to smack her in an attempt to get her to stop laughing.
“Yeah, well this isn’t about us, so if we can just get back to what we were all talking about I’d appreciate it.” I huff out in embarrassment making Maria shoot me a smirk before looking over at Monica. “By the way, how did you manage to get Y/N to invite Carol to come to hang out with us Mon?” Monica chuckles slightly at Maria’s question making us look at each other confusingly before looking back at her and waiting for her response. “That was pretty easy actually. I just casually mentioned that Y/N and I were going to be at the diner yesterday and Carol showed up while we were talking about the meet-up. And I knew that Y/N would be too nice to not invite her to come with us.” She says to us while shrugging her shoulders.
I nod and stay silent for a moment before asking Monica a question that I’ve been dying to know the answer to. “Hey Mon, how come you didn’t take part in the bet? I mean out of all of us, you have the most inside knowledge of Y/N just like me with Wanda.” She looks over at me with a glint in her eyes that tells me she definitely knows something that the rest of us don’t know but it’s gone as fast as it came as an easy smile settles on her face.
“Well Nat, the answer to that is easy. There’s nothing fun about betting on something that I already know the answer to. Plus, I have a feeling that there’s more to the situation than any of you are aware of and I’d hate to ruin the surprise.” I look at her questioningly but before I can ask her what she knows Y/N and Wanda return with bright smiles on their faces.
I put my game face back on as I look over at the two before my eyes meet those of my idiot best friend. I raise a brow at her, and a grin takes over my face as I say “you good Wanda? You kind of stormed off, did something happen to upset you?” Her cheeks are overcome by a pink tinge, and she glares at me slightly with a look that screams at me to shut up before wiping the look off of her face so no one else will notice.
“I’m good Nat. I just needed a moment to myself and no nothing happened.” Oh, she is lying through her damn teeth I think to myself before letting a smirk replace the grin on my face. “Oh really? I could’ve sworn I saw you get upset after seeing C- Ouch!” I’m swiftly cut off from speaking any further after being elbowed in the ribs by Maria who is giving me a look that tells me if I don’t stop talking immediately then she’ll do much worse than that.
I glance back in Y/N and Wanda’s direction and ignore the glowering look from the Sokovian girl and notice Y/N looking at all of us with a confused expression. Y/N clears her throat gaining all of our attention before she says, “Umm… So, since you three were going to handle the room arrangements, I was wondering if there was anything else we need to do?”
Monica nods her head in response while having a thoughtful expression and says “Actually now that Y/N brought it up, we have to let all of the boys know about the trip still. So why don’t we have Y/N and Wanda go let them know and then afterward the whole group can make plans to meet up so that we can settle the roomies’ situation.” Maria and I nod along in agreement before the three of us glance over a Y/N and Wanda. “Yeah sure, I’m cool with that. What do you say Wands?” Y/N asks while looking at the brunette making her nod her head in agreement.
I clap my hands together gathering the attention of all the girls as I say “Great! Now that that’s settled, I think that we can all head out and then continue this when everyone is all together.” I receive four head nods, and everyone begins to gather their things. As I go to grab my bag, I hear Y/N’s voice making me look over in time to see her asking Monica if she can give her a ride home, but Monica gives her an apologetic look before telling her that she can’t.
I see Y/N’s shoulders drop slightly before I see her begin to walk over to Maria and me which makes my head snap back. “Babe! Quick! Y/N is coming over here and I need you to follow my lead, ok?” I whisper to Maria, and she goes to ask why but is interrupted when Y/N approaches us. “Hey guys do you think that you could give me a ride home?” she says with a sheepish tone with a hopeful look on her face.
I try not to laugh as I put on my most convincing version of an apologetic expression on my face as I answer. “I’m sorry Y/N but Maria and I have dinner with my family, and we really cannot be late.” Her face drops at this but before she can say anything I finish off in a cheery tone by saying “But I’m sure that if you ask Wanda, she’ll have no problem with giving you a ride home.” Her face flushes at the mention of Wanda before she nods and mumbles a quiet thank you before heading over in Wanda’s direction.
I keep my eyes on the two as they talk and Wanda blushes before swiftly nodding her head making Y/N’s face light up and making the blush on Wanda’s face deepen. She quickly glances over at me, and I shoot her a sly smirk and wiggle my eyebrows. She shoots me a withering look before leaving with Y/N. I turn to look at Maria who seems to have an amused look on her face before telling me to hurry up making me chuckle and follow her to my Corvette.
