If anger had a face, it would be Sandra. A week had passed, but the prank call Lou had pulled on her never really died. If anything, it grew into anger, like a leech sucking on the brunette’s skin. For a week, Sandra focused herself on the hospital and each evening was spent inside her apartment. She had chained herself from stepping out and going into the bar because she didn’t want to see her. The blonde, on the other hand, had been texting her, apologizing over text; there were few calls here and there, but Sandra ignored all of it.

Truthfully, she knew Lou didn’t intend to hurt her that way. She didn’t fault her for inflicting pain on her that night, she knew that for Lou, it was just pure fun. However, it wasn’t valid to go breaking other people’s vases just so the crack would bring out giggles in yourself. It was not valid of Lou to pull that prank up, knowing that Cate was someone Sandra had longed for so long; the saudade in Sandra’s heart grew so big, that a tiny speck of Cate’s individuality could tear her apart.

It’s Sunday, nine in the evening. She should have gone home two hours ago, but Sandra chose to work overtime, trying to escape the loneliness of her apartment. On her desk were these countless unsigned papers and she was digging into it when her assistant suddenly peeped by the door.

“You’re still here? I thought you’d gone home.”

“Actually, I’m about to go home, Doctor. But before I go, someone wants to see you.”

“See me? It’s nine in the evening. Who?”

“Lou Miller.”

Sandra sighed. Two hours ago, Lou had texted her that she would do everything for her forgiveness and asked if she was at the hospital. The text remained unanswered, but there Lou was, at the hospital, looking for her.

“Tell the woman I’m not available.”

“Okay, doctor. I’ll go ahead now.”

The brunette gave a nod. She went back to reading papers when after a few minutes, her phone beeped.

From: Shithead

Really? Not available? Come on.

Sandra could picture her shaking her head, like how Cate usually does when disappointed. It strung a tight knot in her chest. She missed her; and by her, Sandra pondered: Cate or Lou?

“Stop thinking about her, Sandy.” She mumbled to herself before going back to signing papers.

Another two hours had passed. It was almost midnight when the brunette decided to finally rest for the night. With her bag on hand, the brunette trudged out of her office. The hospital was busy still; doctors and nurses were doing their jobs respectively. Some had paid her reverence and wished her a goodnight as to which she replied with a sweet smile. As the brunette reached down the parking lot, she fished out her car key inside her bag. She was nearing her car when she realized that Lou, clad in green velvet suit, was sitting on the floor, with her back on Sandra’s car door.

“What the…” The brunette stopped, “…is she asleep? How the hell did she know my car?” She asked herself, her face in full disbelief seeing Lou waiting for her on that position.

The blonde still had a gauge on the upper right of the forehead. The minor abrasions she accumulated hid underneath her suit. She had her head rested on her knees and beside her was a cake in a box. The brunette gradually walked towards the other side of her car. She didn’t want to talk to her just yet; but just as she was about to touch her car door, Lou must have heard the clinking of her heels on the floor because the blonde got up. She looked so disoriented as she looked at the whole space looking for Sandra and when she did, the blonde ran towards her in a blink before eventually blocking Sandra’s way from touching her car’s door.

“I’m sorry.” Lou mumbled, her eyes boring into Sandra’s a little too deep, “I know that was so uncalled for. It was so insensitive of me. That was such a jerk move and I am so sorry.” She went on rambling like a criminal to a  police to let her go, “I’m so sorry.”

“Move.”

“No.” Lou replied as she shook her head, “Not until we become friends again.”

“I don’t need a shithead friend so move.” Sandra countered as she shoved the blonde lightly to the side.

Lou didn’t budge, “No. I bought you cake.” The blonde countered hastily, “A cheesecake! A blueberry one.”

It made the brunette stop, “What?” Sandra asked, her eyes squinting on the process.

“I bought you your favorite cake…” Lou bit her lower lip as she looked at her seriously, “Your favorite.”

Sandra looked at the box on Lou’s hand. There was no way Lou could have known what her favorite cake was. She dug her brain so deep, thinking about a time when she could have shared that part of her to Lou, but she really could not remember.

“How did you know about that?”

The blonde looked at her, curiosity in her eyes, “What? What do you mean?”

Sandra pointed the box she had at hand, “That. It’s blueberry. That’s my favorite. How did you know about that?”

Lou’s eyes lit hearing the brunette said that it was her favorite. She hastily lifted the box and handed it to Sandra like a little kid presenting a newly-made DIY toy.

“Really? Oh my god.” Lou chuckled as she gave Sandra the cake, it took a few seconds and a deadly glare before the brunette took it from her, “I just figured you like cheesecakes so I bought a blueberry one.” She smiled sheepishly at her, “Didn’t know it’s your favorite actually.”

The blonde sounded sincere with her answer, but it only stirred the suspicion brewing inside Sandra. With a fake acknowledgement at best, the brunette nodded.

“So we are friends now?”

“Move.” Sandra spoke and Lou stepped aside, “Thank you for the cake. Goodnight.”

The blonde stood there, dumbfounded as she watched the brunette got in her car. Sandra on the other hand blew a sigh as soon as she got in. She didn’t know what else to say, and her body literally got chills. Her suspicions just got even stronger. She watched as Lou stood up by her car before the blonde walked across her spot.

Lou had her motorcycle with her? This bitch.

Sandra opened her door before shouting for her attention, “Do you want to die?”

The blonde, her legs already straddling her big bike, looked at her, “What?”

“You’re barely healed.” Sandra got out of her car, slamming her door before she walked towards the blonde, “You are such a shithead.”

“I’m going home.” Lou reasoned.

“Well, you’re not.” Without Lou’s permission, the brunette snatched the key of the bike and shoved it inside her pocket, “Leave the bike. I’m taking you home.” Lou’s lips hung in shock as Sandra left her right there as the brunette started to march towards her car.

“Are you serious?” Lou groaned, her legs still straddling the bike.

Sandra opened her car door and without turning her back at her, she replied, “I’m taking you home or you can stay here or take a bus. That’s your choice.”

Hearing what Sandra just said, Lou smiled to herself before she replied with, “You’re so pretty when you’re mad.”
