The hue of that morning was that of an austere quality. The somber feeling sunk in deep like bones underneath someone else’s skin. The skies were a little dark and the lullabies of the bird sounded so eerily. The drapes hanging by the glass wall of the penthouse were dancing through the blustery wind coming in from the outside. The room felt too haunted as Sandra slept still, but the stillness of the brunette was shattered as the alarm clock on the blonde’s bedside table rattled loudly.

With a groan escaping from her closed lips, Sandra blindedly reached out for the alarm clock, eager to shut it off. With her minimal attempts, the alarm clock rattled still which made the brunette open her eyes and frustratedly got the alarm clock, turned it off before placing it back on the bedside table a little aggresive. As the blairing sound of the alarm clock went dead, the brunette slowly looked at herself and then around the room. Her clothes were scattered on the floor, along with the blonde’s clothes. She could see her black thong on the other corner. The aftermath of what happened between them has not been cleaned yet. The brunette pulled up the comforter as she covered her bare breasts, with her mind off to wonder about where the blonde was.

Sandra flung herself off of the comforter as she decided to get off the bed. As she stood up, naked, she could see the gloomy morning through the glass wall as the dancing drapes gave it all away. It was going to rain, she thought. With no intention of staying there much longer, the brunette started picking up her clothes on the floor. As she got everyting, she then started to wear it, but unbeknownst to her was the blonde – Cate was there. With a half-finished cigarette hanging on her red lips, Cate stood outside her balcony, the glass wall separating her from the insides of her room and she watched – hungrily and admiringly – as the brunette wore her black thong.

“You’re going?”

Sandra, with her dress already hanging on her hips, looked back. There Cate was, wearing nothing but a red underwear and white button-up blouse with all the buttons unbuttoned. There was a dying cigarette on her slender fingers and the brunette did not fail to notice it as the smoke glided its existence around the room.

“It’s only six in the morning. It’s going to rain hard. It’s drizzling already.”

“You’re smoking?” That was the question that went past the brunette’s lips as she continued to wear her dress, “I thought you stopped smoking.” There was a hint of mockery as she added it, but Cate dismissed it as she sat on the bed.

“So did you?”

Sandra walked to a corner and grabbed her heels, “Did I what?”

“You watched that award’s night, did you? I broadcasted it there that I stopped smoking.”

The brunette walked back towards the bed nonchalantly. Cate watched as the brunette sat beside her and wore her heels.

“No,..” Sandra put down her already heeled-foot on the floor as she looked at her, “No, I did not.”

“You did not so that is why you now know that I stopped smoking?”

“Apparently, from the looks of it, you did not. You didn’t stop smoking.”

“I’ve been sober for years already. I just decided to break that sobreity like weeks ago. Can’t help it. I want to live. To feel alive.”

“You want to live?” The brunette smiled at her, “Well you won’t because lung disease is waving.”

A chuckle elicited out of the blonde’s lips as she looked at her, “Well, here goes the doctor.”

Sandra only gave her a look – one that Cate apparently could not fathom anymore. The blonde used to know every syllable, every plea, every whisper, that the brunette wanted to spit through her eyes, but things have changed and Cate couldn’t dissect that language anymore. The brunette then ran her fingers through her hair as she stood up from the bed, ready to go out.

“It’s raining.” Cate muttered, stating the obvious fact that the drizzle had turned into a raging rain, “Stay until the rain stops.”

“I want to go home.”

Cate stood up from the bed. Her opened blouse flung apart that Sandra did not fail to notice how the unbuttoned top revealed Cate’s perky breasts. Damn.

“It’s raining. You don’t have your car with you.”

“I can call a cab.”

“Why call a cab when you can just stay?” The blonde jested casually as she opened the curtains hanging by her glass wall; it was indeed raining cats and dogs, “Stay until the rain stops.”

“And do what? Be stuck here with you?” Sandra picked up her purse on the floor, eventually noting to herself to never get so wasted again, “No, thank you. I’ll call a cab.” She spoke before she went out of the room.

Cate shook her head as she watched the door slammed shut. If she was hardheaded, her ex-girlfriend was sure one too. With a sigh escaping from her lips, Cate walked out of the room. She then saw the brunette on the living room, obviously ready to walk out of her unit.

“Just stay. It’s fucking raining.”

Sandra stopped by the door, “I told you, I’ll call a cab.” She answered before eventually turning the knob open, but when she did, it was not moving; Sandra then turned to the blonde with a raised brow, “Open this.”

“Even my front door says stay.” The blonde replied giving the brunette her sweetest smile.

“Fucking open this.”

“I don’t know how to.” Cate replied in a sing along tone before she turned her back at her, “I really don’t know how to.” She added playfully before walking back – with her hips playfully swaying from side to side – towards the room.

When the blonde started walking away, she could hear Sandra cussing her way through before she heard a loud thud, which she was sure, was cause because the brunette kicked the door out of frustration. When the blonde vanished, Sandra started marching her way back to the room angrily. Her loud footsteps were echoing through the immense place, but she didn’t care; didn’t care if she sounded so aggresive and mad, all she cared was going home. When the brunette reached the room, she right away stepped into it, eventually slamming the door.

“Cate! Open the fucking door right now. I swear I am not –” She came to a halt as she realized the blonde was not in the room.

She muttered another litany of profanities as she went to look for the blonde in the comfort room, but she was nowhere to be found. Just as she was about to go out again, Sandra realized she hadn’t looked out at the balcony. She then walked towards the glass wall leading through the balcony and drew the curtains and when she did, there Cate was. Without a single care in the world, with her white button-down shirt abandoned on the balcony’s floor, the blonde – who was only wearing her red underwear – was dancing underneath the raging skies.

“What?” Cate stopped dancing, her hand had managed to cup her own breasts as she smiled at her, “Wanna join?” She asked as the rain soaked her whole self wet.

The anger brewing inside the brunette seemed to get stronger, but when she saw the blonde dancing under the rain in the balcony, she seemed to forget about the reason why she was there. She stood, frozen like a damn statue, by the sliding glass door and despite the heavy urge to go back inside the room, she couldn’t.

“You’re naked.” Sandra mumbled as she looked at her; she wanted to tell her to get dressed or to get inside because people might see what she was doing, but she didn’t want to sound like she care, because what for?

“Naked?” A saccharine laugh had escaped Cate’s lips before she started to turn around like a little girl.

“Yes,..” The brunette spoke with so much conviction, “…naked.”

“Barely.” Cate mumbled, her eyes closed as she turned her head up to the skies, “I still have my underwear on.” She added before she shook her head and ran her fingers through her wet hair, “Unless…”

“Unless what?”

The blonde sighed before she turned to fully face the brunette, her breasts on full display as she bravely looked at her, “Unless if you want to take it off. Then in that case, you can call me naked.”
