“Cate!” That sharp tone flew sneakily in the air as Sandra held the blonde, stopping her in the hallway, just outside the blonde’s room, “Hear me out.”
“What are you doing up here?” Cate asked, her voice full of anger as she raised her brow at the brunette, “You should be there, eating breakfast with your woman.”
“She? She is not my woman.”
“She’s dating you!” The anger in Cate’s eyes was so visible that Sandra could feel it’s about to explode; the blonde, after waiting for Sandra’s reply – that did not come out – shook her head and was about to get inside her room when Sandra blocked her way.
“I can explain.”
“See? You cannot even disagree that she’s dating you because it’s true.”
“It’s a big misunderstanding!”
“She took you home!” Cate wanted to shout it at her face, but she did not, she could not, “Why didn’t you tell me that she was the one you met when you ditched me on our first Tinder date?”
“Because I didn’t think it was that important. I didn -” Sandra’s rambling was cut off as Cate spoke.
“Because you knew it was going to be a problem.”
“Cate, please…” The brunette reached out for the blonde’s hands, eager to hold her and explain to her the whole ordeal, but the blonde backed away.
“And now what? Just when I thought you and I are going to patch things up, the fucking news of my friend dating you blows up right across my fucking face. And really? Really, Annette? A friend of mine?”
“I am not dati –”
“Not dating? Oh really? But she fucked you! She took you home and fucked the whole outta you. And then you, coming to that damn park, pretending you fucking care about me, took me home and then we fucked. We fucking fucked. What does that make you? A fucking slut who wants her –” Cate wasn’t able to continue to take her anger and jealousy out when a thick slap landed on her cheek.
The sound of the slap sounded so prolonged and loud that it ultimately shut the whole space. Cate felt the shivers on her skin rising up as she felt the sting of the slap slowly seeping right into her. She slowly looked at Sandra with her hand clutching her cheek and when their eyes met, it was when she realized that tears had fallen off from Sandra’s eyes.
“She didn’t fuck me. You did.” The brunette started, “But maybe, she should have. Maybe, it was wrong – so wrong of me to have let you fucked me up again. And yes, it’s true, I met her when I ditched you, but at that time, I didn’t know that it was you I was ditching. I had such a great time with her, but she didn’t fuck me, but maybe she should have.” She bit her lower lip as she proceeded to wipe her tears, “And the audacity of you to speak of such vile words against me when my intention is clear all along. Between the two of us, you are the cheater here. Do not make me a replica of you.” Sandra was about to walk out, but stopped as she remembered she still had something to say, “And maybe, it would be fun to date your friend. It would be fun to date someone caring, someone respectful and loving. Time for a change, I guess.”
With those words, Sandra walked out, leaving the blonde standing by the door, dumbfounded at what she just heard. When the sounds of the brunette’s steps faded, Cate heaved a deep sigh and it was when her tears finally fell. The pain started to collide with the raging jealousy she felt and all she wanted to do was to break things, but she didn’t. Instead, she cupped her face so hard and screamed silently; she knew she just blew her chance over again and there was no way she could save it.
With a heart so torn, Cate went inside her room eventually slamming her door so hard. She then sat on her bed as her tears continued to fall. She did not know how long she sat there and cried, but just when the blonde was about to check her face on her mirror, knocks on her door were heard, followed by the door opening, revealing her friend, Rosamund. Cate wanted so much to yell at her, but on the contrary, she was reminded that Rosamund did not do anything wrong.
“Hey…” Rosamund peeked through the door before allowing herself to come in, “You okay?”
“Yeah.” Cate replied as she sat on her bed, “Just trying to breathe, but I’m okay.”
“Sandra wants to go home already. Says that she checked up on you when she went here and that you’re fine.” Rosamund then trudged to where the blonde was and sat beside her before she draped an arm around the blonde, enveloping her in a friendly side-hug, “As much as I’d like to stay with you here, and make sure you’re okay, but Sandra seems to be in a hurry. I’m courting her and you know, I’d like to impress her and be the –”
Cate cut her off, “Yeah, go ahead. I’ll be fine here.”
“Okay. Call me when you need anything. And gosh, I still cannot believe she’s your doctor. What a small world! But anyway, I really need to talk to you about everything, but courting duty calls. Gotta go.”
“Okay.”
Rosamund stood up from the bed after pressing a kiss on Cate’s forehead. The blonde smiled at her friend before Rosamund dashed off and when she was all alone, Cate’s tears dwelled into her eyes again. She felt angry and jealous, but she couldn’t really justify her anger towards her friend because Rosamund had been nothing, but great to her. Rosamund was her friend, the only genuine friend she had in the business, but coming to know the reality, she felt that anytime soon, she might lose her as a friend and might gain her as an enemy.
“Fucking hell.” The blonde grunted as she kicked the bedside table causing the vase to rattle before it fell into shards on the floor, “What the fuck is this life I am having!!!” She added, adding another kick to the broken pieces of vase, making the pieces flew up in the air. “I swear if there’s an actress she should be with, it should be me.” Cate heaved a sigh before she breathed and tried to regain her composure, “Not Rosamund. Not anyone else, but me.”
