Transmigrated Into A Waste Who Married The Villain. Chapter 34: Sleeping Together

A+ A-

At that moment, the veiled woman who had been silently standing to the side stepped forward. Luo Jinxiao quickly extended her arm to block her path, saying, “You aren’t seriously thinking about capturing the demon again, are you? You’ve seen it—this one isn’t the one causing harm.”

The veiled woman hesitated momentarily, her steps faltering, and a look of reluctance filled her gaze.

“But if my senior brother were here, he definitely wouldn’t let a demon roam free among humans,” she replied, shaking her head.

“That’s utterly unreasonable! You can’t say it’s wrong just for being born as a demon. Look how close they are! It shows that the demon has treated this girl well, at least a thousand times better than those townsfolk,” Luo Jinxiao argued passionately.

“While you make a valid point…” the woman continued to shake her head, but her resolve seemed to waver, and she didn’t lift her weapon again.

After a moment, she clenched her teeth and turned to Luo Jinxiao, saying, “My senior brother will be back soon. He abhors evil with a passion and will not spare any demon. When that happens, there will be another round of contention. You should let the girl leave quickly; the world is vast, and there are places where demons can survive.”

Hearing this, Luo Jinxiao smiled brightly and cupped her hands in gratitude. “Thank you very much!”

“Do you have a name, fellow immortal? At such a young age to possess such high cultivation, it’s truly admirable,” the woman inquired in return.

“Luo Jinxiao,” came the answer.

“Chi Yi,” she replied with a smile.

“Enough,” Qu Weiyin interjected coldly from the side. “Be careful not to waste time.”

Qu Weiyin stepped confidently to the side of the tree demon, her tone softening as she spoke to it quietly. The tree demon showed a look of gratitude before lowering its head to gaze at Xiu’er.

“She is human after all. If she were to leave with you just like this…” Qu Weiyin’s expression was troubled, but Xiu’er seemed to understand. She tightened her grip around the tree demon’s arm.

She shook her head repeatedly, refusing to let go.

“You may not know this, but Xiu’er is not treated well by them. Born deaf and mute, her father cares for her somewhat, but he often resorts to hitting or scolding her. Just recently, he even arranged for her to be married off. Xiu’er doesn’t want to marry anyone, and if I leave, she truly will have no one to turn to,” the tree demon spoke. Unlike her demonic form, her voice was as clear and gentle as a spring breeze.

“Moreover, humans harbor a deep-seated hatred for demons. With everything that has happened today, returning like this would spell disaster for her.” The tree demon’s words were sincere, her jade-green eyes glistening with tears.

Qu Weiyin appeared moved; usually resolute, she nodded. Grabbing the tree demon with one hand and Xiu’er with the other, she asked, “Are you not coming along? How long do you plan to chat?”

Luo Jinxiao, hearing this, stuck out her tongue and hurriedly ran ahead while Chi Yi waved goodbye from behind.

“You’re quite bold,” Qu Weiyin remarked with a cold snort, and then the scenery around them began to distort and shift. The original mountaintop vanished, and when they regained their composure, they found themselves in the midst of a field. Waves of knee-high green wheat swayed around them, seemingly undulating like the depths of the ocean.

The tree demon took Xiu’er’s trembling hand within its own, gently grasping it as it gazed at Qu Weiyin and Luo Jinxiao, deeply bowing.

“Thank you both; we have no way to repay you, but this is a token of our gratitude.” The tree demon opened her hand, revealing a greenish crystal that lay serenely in her palm, as clear as a single tear.

“The withered wood finds spring again; this is a gift bestowed by the heavens when a tree demon achieves human form. It can heal the dying and restore flesh to bones.”

Qu Weiyin gave it a casual glance and tilted her head toward Luo Jinxiao. “I don’t need it; you take it.”

The tree demon handed the crystal to Luo Jinxiao, a slight smile adorning her face, her vibrant green hair fluttering behind her. “Well then, let’s go. Xiu’er.”

She tenderly called out to Xiu’er, then lowered her head and touched her forehead against the girl’s. They both closed their eyes, as if exchanging unspoken words.

“She says thank you,” the tree demon said with a smile.

Hand in hand, they walked deeper into the endless waves of wheat, their figures gradually fading away. The sight of one girl and one demon together seemed remarkably harmonious.

Luo Jinxiao stood there in a daze, watching them leave, before suddenly nodding and exclaiming, “That’s beautiful.”

Qu Weiyin’s response was icily cold. “What’s beautiful about it? What awaits them will be suffering. The road ahead is long, and this was their own choice. The consequences are theirs to bear.”

Luo Jinxiao tilted her head to look at Qu Weiyin, puzzled. Despite being alive for only a short time, why did she speak with such a profound understanding of life and death, as if she had seen it all?

“However, I’m surprised that you would join me in doing something so contrary to the natural order,” Qu Weiyin remarked. She had always lived freely, unconcerned with rules or ethics; everything was done according to her will. She hadn’t expected that Luo Jinxiao would act in such a way.

Luo Jinxiao scratched her head, feeling somewhat defeated. This situation had indeed surpassed anything she felt accustomed to. After all, in her past life, she had been raised on the doctrines of righteousness, and she was supposed to be just as rigid and conventional as anyone else.

Yet, what she had witnessed before her eyes—the mutual dependence between the tree demon and Xiu’er—was undeniable. The harsh prejudices of society against them were equally jarring. In that instant, she realized that all the grand theories she had been taught about right and wrong suddenly felt meaningless, as if they were just empty words.

Qu Weiyin looked up at the sky; the moonlight had become sparse, and the wheat fields were taking on a clearer outline.

“We’ve already wasted a lot of time; let’s set off,” she said, and the Crescent Moon Star Sword appeared out of thin air, positioned horizontally before her.

The events in Pingxi Town felt like an interlude, or perhaps a fleeting dream. The two of them flew south on their swords, scarcely pausing for rest, finally arriving at Xumi Mountain Manor two days later.

The scenery around them transformed continuously, with lakes and rivers increasing in number, winding their way into the Zhe Sea. As they descended, they could see the vast expanse of the ocean for the first time. Luo Jinxiao was exhilarated at the sight of such boundless water, her excitement making her more talkative than usual.

Qu Weiyin must have uttered the word “noisy” dozens of times, nearly losing her patience and threatening to toss Luo Jinxiao into the sea.

When they reached the entrance of Xumi Mountain Manor, there were only a few visitors at the gates; most of the guests had already arrived. Two young boys in light blue robes stood at the entrance, dozing off.

As Qu Weiyin landed, a gust of wind swept through, waking the boys from their slumber. Rubbing their sleepy eyes, they looked up at Qu Weiyin and immediately widened their eyes, hopping in place before stopping in front of her.

“Esteemed immortal, may I ask if you have an invitation?” One of the boys nearly had awe written all over his face as he leaned in to inquire. Luo Jinxiao furrowed her brows and instinctively pushed Qu Weiyin behind her, stepping forward to say, “We are from the Wuhui Sect.”

“Wuhui Sect? Then this must be Qu Weiyin, the esteemed immortal!” The boy pushed Luo Jinxiao aside and approached Qu Weiyin, his eyes filled with admiration.

Qu Weiyin took a half step back, maintaining a stern expression as she nodded. “This way, please. We’ve prepared accommodations for you.” The boy hurriedly tidied his robes and, bowing, led the way, not once glancing at Luo Jinxiao throughout the entire process.

Qu Weiyin followed the boy for a few steps before suddenly turning back to glance at Luo Jinxiao’s expression of utter despondence. A smirk of subtle satisfaction appeared at the corner of her lips.

This added a lively charm to her delicately painted brows and eyes, which struck Luo Jinxiao as surprisingly adorable.

By the time Luo Jinxiao managed to pull herself out of that delightful daze, Qu Weiyin had already vanished. Another young boy stood before her, wearing a blank expression, as he handed her a wooden plaque. “Esteemed immortal, this is your guest room. Just follow this path, and you’ll find it.”

Despite feeling frustrated inside, Luo Jinxiao could only accept her fate. Xumi Mountain Manor was much larger than Wuhui Sect, so the guest rooms were numerous. As she walked along the path, she noticed disciples from various sects mingling, eagerly exchanging techniques and knowledge, creating a lively atmosphere.

Some of the sects were quite prominent even in her previous life, and she had heard of them, such as the all-male Life and Death Sect, whose members each carried a brooding aura.

There was also the Tianji Tower, home to a group of graceful young women, where she could see them playfully chasing each other, drawing shy glances from the solemn members of the Life and Death Sect.

However, Luo Jinxiao dared not linger her gaze on them, for she knew that while the women of Tianji Tower were indeed beautiful, they could be ruthless in sparring, targeting the faces of their opponents with no mercy.

She had had a terrifying experience in her childhood when a group of young girls had chased her around, eager to join in a rough playfight, and it was a memory she didn’t wish to relive.

The wooden plaque given to her by the boy bore a number, and it didn’t take long for her to find the corresponding guest room. Unlike Wuhui Sect, which was adorned with intricate white jade carvings, this place resembled a splendid earthly residence, complete with quaint bridges and flowing streams, laid out in a charming manner.

As she pushed open the wooden door, a familiar figure appeared before her, grabbing her hand excitedly. “Luo Jinxiao! You finally made it! I thought you had run into Master Uncle Qu on the way and met your doom on some mountaintop.”

Luo Jinxiao felt a momentary breathlessness at Lu Fanzhi’s exuberance and, feeling somewhat weary, offered a weak wave. “Almost.”

She was dragged past the entrance hall, nearly getting hit by a vase that came tumbling towards her. Thankfully, she was agile enough to sidestep it, and the vase shattered against the wall with a loud crash.

“Wait, are the four of us sharing a room together?” Luo Jinxiao asked, almost in despair, as if she had just received dreadful news.

“Yeah, there are too many people here, so there aren’t enough rooms available. We had no choice but to squeeze in together.” Lu Fanzhi shrugged, seemingly unfazed as she navigated past the broken vase.

Luo Jinxiao could hardly bear it. She muttered a mantra under her breath to restore the vase to its original state. However, in the next moment, another vase came flying into the room and smashed the floor into pieces.

“Do they always argue like this?” Luo Jinxiao wrapped her arms around herself, feeling as if she might cry without tears.

Lu Fanzhi spread her hands. “You’ll get used to it. Those two just started bickering again for no apparent reason. Your sister may look gentle, but when she gets angry, she throws things, leaving Yan Yi on the defensive. What a mess it was before; you should’ve seen it,” she said with an exasperated shake of her head.

The ruckus from their bickering lasted for half a day, leaving Luo Jinxiao no choice but to retreat to the eaves to cultivate. By the time the noise subsided, the sun had already begun to set.

She tiptoed back to her room to sleep, finding Luo Ning asleep on one side, while Yan Yi occupied the other side with Lu Fanzhi nestled between them, having kindly made the bed for her.

“Thank you,” Luo Jinxiao whispered, slipping into bed quietly, relieved at the thought of finally being able to get a good night’s sleep after such a long day.

However, it was only a moment after she dozed off when she was suddenly awakened by a snug embrace. Blinking her eyes open, she found Lu Fanzhi had wrapped her arm across her face while sleeping, nearly cocooning her head in her embrace.

Luo Jinxiao fought down the urge to strike back, yanking Lu Fanzhi’s arm away in an attempt to free herself. Just as her head was liberated, Lu Fanzhi’s leg sprawled across her again.

“Lu Fanzhi!” Luo Jinxiao couldn’t take it anymore and gritted her teeth.

In her sleep, Lu Fanzhi murmured a pleasant “Mama” with a blissful grin.

In that moment, Luo Jinxiao felt an overwhelming longing for Elder Liu’s little courtyard.

She stared blankly at the ceiling, finally deciding to take action. She donned her cloak, rolled up her bedding, and stepped out of the guest room.

However, in this unfamiliar place, she had no idea where to find an inn. Wandering aimlessly along the road, she suddenly looked up and felt a rush of joy.

Before her window was a small oil lamp flickering softly. Despite the small wick, it cast a bright glow, and there leaned a graceful figure, her silhouette delicate and ethereal—none other than Qu Weiyin.

Exhausted to the bone, Luo Jinxiao dashed forward, tiptoeing up to peek through the window. With a charming smile, she whispered softly, “Master Uncle…”

Qu Weiyin abruptly looked up, the warm glow of the fire reflecting in her clear eyes, silently gazing at Luo Jinxiao with a hint of confusion.

“Master Uncle, can I sleep with you?” Luo Jinxiao managed to maintain a friendly smile, her expression sweet and endearing, her eyes crescent-shaped like a waning moon.

Qu Weiyin’s face suddenly turned red, furrowing her brow as she stared at Luo Jinxiao, before abruptly coughing.
