Luo Jinxiu winced in pain and almost jumped up. She quickly grabbed the poor creature’s tail and said with a frown, “Sweetie!”
The standoff was interrupted by the appearance of a new figure in front of them. She was walking unsteadily, her sleeves stained with blood that continued to drip slowly. Seeing this, Luo Jinxiu rushed to her aid and held out his hand to help the newcomer.
The person raised her eyes and relaxed when she recognized Luo Jinxiu. She then fell to her knees in relief.
Luo Jinxiu knelt down and gently brushed aside the blood-stained hair. To her surprise, it was Chi Yi who had suffered severe injuries. Her beautiful face was now grimacing in pain.
“Luo Xiaoxian, the third gate was destroyed by a group of people. They teamed up and secretly attacked, injuring our fellow practitioners in the process. Some of them are at the Yuanying level, and we are no match for them. They injured several of our practitioners. Since you are alone, it’s best to hide and not go any further. Wait for someone to get the elixir, and they will release everyone held here,” Chi Yi said through gritted teeth as she applied self-healing techniques.
“Who are they?” Luo Jinxiu asked while tending to Chi Yi’s injuries. Her spiritual power was more effective than others, and soon Chi Yi’s pale complexion began to recover.
“They are from the Life and Death Sect,” Chi Yi said with resentment. “They falsely claim to be a respectable sect, yet they resort to such despicable means. The Assembly of the Ten Directions has not yet reached its final stage, and they should not have attacked and caused harm within it. They took advantage of their higher level of cultivation, destroyed the third gate, and ambushed us here, waiting for an opportunity to harm others. It’s despicable!”
Faced with the difficulty of dealing with several Yuanying level cultivators, Luo Jinxiu clenched her fists and felt a moment of emptiness in her mind.
“They are coming,” Chi Yi pushed Luo Jinxiu aside and conjured a dark bow. She wiped the blood from her mouth and looked determined. “Luo Xiaoxian, I cannot determine your cultivation level, but considering your age, you might have trouble resisting them. You should leave.”
“I witnessed your kindness and courage that day and considered you a friend. Today, injured as I am, I’d rather confront them as they have wronged my sect brothers and me,” Chi Yi declared fiercely, her black robe billowing behind her.
As Luo Jinxiu listened, she felt a surge of emotion. Before she could speak, a burst of energy erupted in front of her, and several robes filled the air before transforming into three young men, each of them exuding a sinister aura. They were tall and well-built, with sharp features and narrow eyes.
The tallest one, who looked the most authoritative, wielded a long spear that emitted black smoke. He didn’t spare any words and immediately launched an attack on Luo Jinxiu and Chi Yi. Without hesitation, he hurled a dark and ominous projectile at Luo Jinxiu’s face. In an instant, she summoned her divine sword and effortlessly deflected the incoming attack, creating a glittering collision of black and white.
“You despicable rascals, you will be despised by the world once you leave here!” Chi Yi shouted indignantly.
“Enough of your nonsense. The rules have never forbidden sneak attacks or early engagement. You have no right to criticize others while wallowing in your own corner. We only seek the elixir. Surrender now and leave, and we may spare your lives. The young man with the spear replied. Suddenly, he lunged forward, shrouding the area in darkness and making it almost impossible to see.
The oppressive power of their cultivation levels was enough to instill fear. Luo Jinxiu quickly closed her eyes and concentrated on dispersing the darkness with her spiritual energy. As she quickly retreated, she narrowly dodged an attack aimed at her face.
“Little girl, impressive that you managed to dodge that,” the young man said, his tone lascivious as he scrutinized Luo Jinxiu, his eyes filled with disturbing intent.
Aggravated by his condescending attitude, Luo Jinxiu was furious. She snapped at him and conjured her divine sword with a quick movement. Enveloped in silvery-white spiritual energy, it unleashed a blizzard that descended from the sky, drastically lowering the ambient temperature. The young man was caught off guard and tried to dodge, but the ice shards enveloped him from all sides. Once touched, the ice quickly spread over his entire body.
Cursing, the young man’s body burst into black flames, melting the ice. But before he could think of his next move, countless ice spikes were hurtling towards him. Unable to escape, he manifested a barrier to protect himself from the relentless barrage.
“That girl is quite powerful. Senior Brother, why don’t you help?” the young man roared. Another young man joined him, and together, they broke Luo Jinxiu’s ice barrier and counterattacked.
The two men had the upper hand in terms of strength. Luo Jinxiu’s forehead began to sweat, and she silently recited her mantra. Her divine sword was now covered in frost, shining brightly. As she wielded it, the light flickered continuously, balancing the playing field against the two men.
The two young men looked at each other, their disdain giving way to concentration. At the same time, the already injured Chi Yi was momentarily unable to withstand the attack. She was thrown backwards, and the young man who had attacked her turned his attention to Luo Jinxiu. The combined strength of the three Golden Core cultivators seemed insurmountable. In front of Luo Jinxiu, everything went dark, her whole body felt like it was about to burst, and she tasted a metallic sweetness around her mouth.
Suddenly, there was a roar behind her, and the poor creature rushed out from somewhere, stepped on her shoulder, and landed in front of her. Alarmed, Luo Jinxiu reached out to pull it back.
Before she could, the poor creature emitted a golden light and sent a powerful shockwave towards the young men, disrupting their spiritual power. The three attackers were forced to retreat, and one even fell to the ground.
“What the hell is this?” the spear-wielding young man cursed angrily. He tried to strike the poor creature with his spear, but was met by a burst of flames that nearly singed his eyebrows.
Finding a moment of respite, Luo Jinxiu reached up to her ear and discovered that it was wet. Upon inspecting it, she saw a bright red color.
It was a close call. If the poor creature hadn’t intervened, she might have been seriously injured. Even though the poor creature was her spiritual animal, Luo Jinxiu had never considered using it in battle. She couldn’t help but feel that the poor creature, being so small, might grow into a ferocious beast if used recklessly.
As she struggled to stand up and help, Luo Jinxiu suddenly blinked and realized that something was wrong. The poor creature was using a murky energy to attack, but it was not a flame-breathing creature. When did it learn to breathe fire?
She rushed to help, using both ice and fire to confront the young men, forcing them to continually retreat.
“Damn it! Activate the formation!” The three men suddenly retreated and formed a line, pulling large spiritual stones from their sleeves and throwing them at the ground. Immediately, an energy vortex swirled, and a pale greenish mist filled the air. Realizing the danger, Luo Jinxiu held her breath, but the mist still made her feel dizzy.
The trio resorted to dirty tricks when they were facing a losing battle, deliberately spreading poisonous gas that caused their opponents to collapse.
Unable to resist, Luo Jinxiu’s body went limp, and she bit her lip hard, drawing blood that trickled down to her chin. At that moment, the three young men approached her and exchanged remarks with sinister, mocking grins. One of them crouched down and tried to touch Luo Jinxiu’s face.
“Not bad, little girl. You are quite attractive,” the young man said in a contemptuous tone.
Luo Jinxiu clenched her fists and her divine sword hummed. She was about to strike him, but before he bent down, a golden light flashed and the poor creature lying on the side disappeared. In its place appeared a woman dressed in red, her black hair cascading behind her in an orderly and serene fashion.
Even in the blurry vision, her curvaceous and elegant figure was clearly visible, and her delicate, fair face added a touch of color to the desolate wilderness.
“Junior Master…” Luo Jinxiu muttered in disbelief. Dazed, she thought she might be seeing things.
Qu Weiying, how could she be here?
However, the familiar aura surrounding them brought a sense of calm. The sounds of the altercation seemed to emanate from the other side, filtering through like a thin membrane. The woman in red obviously overpowered the disciples of the Life and Death Sect, forcing them to retreat.
She looked down at them with indifference, like a ruler surveying her domain.
A gentle arm pulled Luo Jinxiu to her feet, supported her as she struggled to stand, and then held her waist. The woman stiffened for a moment, the movement almost imperceptible.
“Junior Master, is it really you?” Luo Jinxiu said, resting her chin on the woman’s shoulder. Even at this moment, she couldn’t help but marvel at how soft and comforting the woman in her arms felt.
“Useless,” the woman grumbled, her voice tense.
Luo Jinxiu had never felt so happy to be scolded. Amidst the confusion in her mind, she could tell that the person in front of her was indeed Qu Weiying. Although she couldn’t fathom why she had appeared here, she was almost elated by her presence.
Looking at the confused girl in her arms, Qu Weiying finally hugged her and then looked at the young men, causing them to retreat.
They knew that the woman’s cultivation level surpassed theirs by a full level, and the occasional malevolent energy emanating from her was a clear indication that she was not to be trifled with.
“I’m sure you’ve had enough,” Qu Weiying said each word slowly, her expression neutral but her narrowed eyes betraying her raging anger.
An intense aura of killing intent filled the wilderness as the three men exchanged glances and turned to run, only to be confronted by a sword that appeared out of nowhere. The sword was as long as a man, and its crimson color was alluring and terrifying.
This is the Crescent Moon Star Sword. Are you Qu Wei Yin of the Unforgiving Gate?” A young man shouted in disbelief. Before he could finish speaking, the Crescent Moon Star Sword rushed at him, accompanied by the wild power of spiritual energy. He struggled in vain, and soon blood flowed from his seven orifices as he collapsed to the ground.
“Do you want to kill someone? This is the gathering of the ten directions. If you lay a hand on us, they won’t let you go unpunished!” The remaining two were so frightened that they had lost the ability to resist, leaving only panic behind.
The Demon Emperor’s killing intent appeared on Qu Wei Yin, enough to strike fear into anyone who saw it.
“Young Martial Uncle, please don’t… don’t kill anyone.” Luo Jin Xiao struggled to open her eyes and spoke softly. Her voice echoed in Qu Wei Yin’s ears, soft and with the effect of soothing the anger in one’s heart.
Suddenly, Qu Wei Yin stopped her hand. Her eyes flickered as she slowly lowered her arm. A blinding golden light flashed by, and the remaining two also fell unconscious to the ground.
Luo Jin Xiao in her arms had already lost consciousness at some point. Although the girl was tall and slim, she was still fragile. It was effortless for Qu Wei Yin to support her. She sheathed her sword, crouched down, and accidentally glanced at Luo Jin Xiao’s face.
“Who are you really?” Qu Wei Yin asked. Suddenly, she reached out a hand and lightly brushed her fingertips across Luo Jin Xiao’s nose, her expression complex.
It seemed that this girl’s identity was even more mysterious than she had imagined. Who was she and what was her purpose? Everything was like a huge mystery.
Luo Jin Xiao seemed to know something, as if she understood herself very well, but she did not. She clearly had decent strength, so why was she considered worthless before?
She wanted to know, but dared not. She was suddenly afraid of the intimacy between the two of them. She was already starting to worry about Luo Jin Xiao, and she didn’t want to show any weakness.
“I will eventually kill, and a sea of blood feuds awaits me. I will eventually fall into darkness,” she sighed as if talking to herself.
