Transmigrated Into A Waste Who Married The Villain. Chapter 73: Sacrifice

As the pill dissolved in her mouth, turning to liquid, Luo Jinxiao barely managed to steady herself. She reached up to touch her lips, where it seemed the lingering scent of Qu Weiyin still hovered—sweet and faint.

Qu Weiyin’s pale wrist bore several red marks from where Luo Jinxiao had gripped it tightly. She lowered her gaze, letting her sleeves fall to cover the blush lingering on her skin.

“I told you not to follow me. Why won’t you listen?” Qu Weiyin chided, but as Luo Jinxiao listened, her thoughts drifted elsewhere, her heart racing and her cheeks aflame.

Qu Weiyin waved her hand in front of her in an attempt to regain her attention. “Are you listening?”

“I heard, I’m sorry, Master Uncle.” Luo Jinxiao straightened up, feeling guilt swell inside her as she recollected her previous actions, which had been rather…

Her gaze couldn’t help but drift back to Qu Weiyin’s tender lips.

Noticing where Luo Jinxiao was looking, Qu Weiyin abruptly turned her body, positioning her ear towards her. Even her delicate earlobe bore a slight blush. “Don’t overthink it; it was just a temporary measure.”

“Once we get outside, I’ll deal with you,” Qu Weiyin said coldly. “That crying sound just now must have been from a Xiao Yu. It lures people nearby to eat them. Thankfully, you ended up with me; otherwise, you wouldn’t even know if you had been eaten.”

“Xiao Yu?” Luo Jinxiao asked in surprise. “The Celestial God?”

“Changming Tower is home to not only demons but also ancient evil gods. No matter how powerful a demon is, it can be dealt with. But once divine power is unleashed, you wouldn’t stand a chance, even the Sect Master wouldn’t survive,” Qu Weiyin stated.

“The suppression of gods over immortals is devastating. If the divine races are not extinct, cultivating as an immortal means nothing,” Qu Weiyin added, her gaze drifting to the distance as she spoke softly.

Luo Jinxiao nodded in agreement. Then, she looked around, trying to find Luo Ning and Yan Ying, but the area was an expanse of desolation, with no sign of life visible. The incessant cries of a baby continued to echo in her ears.

“Yan Ying mentioned that someone has intruded,” Luo Jinxiao suddenly recalled.

“Others?” Qu Weiyin seemed taken aback. She furrowed her brow, realizing it explained the significant disturbance in the barrier earlier, which had nearly collapsed.

She seized Luo Jinxiao’s wrist, pulling her forward into the void. “Yan Ying has been guarding here for many years; she should know how to avoid the evil gods. The sooner we find what we’re looking for, the sooner we can escape.”

“Could it be that the intruders are also after something like the Sect Master?” Luo Jinxiao speculated. “We didn’t disturb the barrier upon entering, but something has caused such tremendous tremors—could it be…”

“Demons,” Qu Weiyin interrupted, her expression turning serious as she regarded Luo Jinxiao.

Both of them shared a tense glance, their expressions grim, and they quickened their pace. Although Luo Jinxiao didn’t know what the Sect Master was looking for, she understood that if the demon race got to it first, the consequences would be unthinkable.

Qu Weiyin seemed quite familiar with the path, navigating accurately even in what appeared to be nothingness, deftly avoiding the rolling waves of demonic energy.

Luo Jinxiao followed closely behind her, full of questions, but held her tongue.

Qu Weiyin noticed her confusion as they descended a step. She suddenly spoke up, “Are you wondering how I know the way around here?”

Luo Jinxiao chose not to answer, prompting Qu Weiyin to continue.

“If you’ve been locked away in a place for years, not only will you become familiar with the path, but you’ll also know your neighbors inside out.”

Upon hearing that, Luo Jinxiao felt her heart plummet as if countless tiny needles were piercing into it, causing sharp pangs of pain.

“You were imprisoned here?” Luo Jinxiao’s eyes widened in disbelief, struggling to comprehend her words.

To be held captive in Changming Tower, a place meant for confining demons and spirits, was an unimaginable horror. “There are still many things you don’t know,” Qu Weiyin said, shaking her head, her tone surprisingly nonchalant.

Suddenly, the ground beneath them sloped steeply, and Luo Jinxiao lost her footing, nearly tumbling down. Instinctively, she reached out and grabbed Qu Weiyin’s soft hand tightly.

“Hey,” Qu Weiyin protested, trying to break free.

“The ground is slippery,” Luo Jinxiao replied, feeling a wave of grievance wash over her.

Qu Weiyin shot her an exasperated glance, but seeing no other option, she resigned herself to Luo Jinxiao’s grip. However, the tension made her palm sweaty within moments.

The aura of demons grew increasingly potent, mingled with a faint hint of demonic energy. Suddenly, Qu Weiyin cursed quietly under her breath, her figure disappearing in an instant as she transformed into a beam of light darting forward.

Luo Jinxiao’s heart raced, and she hurried after her.

As the blinding white light finally faded, Luo Jinxiao’s eyesight began to normalize. She found herself in a place filled with dust, like a massive nest. Scattered on the ground were broken bones, alongside bodies that hadn’t yet decayed, lying in disarray.

As she came to a halt, she noticed her clothes were covered in filthy rags. Disgusted, she tried to shake them off, but the more she shook, the more it felt wrong. Upon closer inspection, she realized these weren’t mere rags; they were layers upon layers of spiderwebs!

No wonder the blinding light and heat diminished upon reaching this space; the spiderwebs were blocking much of it.

Qu Weiyin stood beneath the web, her expression vigilant.

Just as Luo Jinxiao was about to step forward, Qu Weiyin suddenly extended her hand, signaling her to stop.

Qu Weiyin gradually retreated, and the figure she had been facing slowly became visible—a person with skin like fragrant ash, pale eyes, and an exceedingly frail appearance.

“Your Excellency, it’s been a long time,” Yu Gui said with a faint smile.

“Luo Jinxiao, step back!” Qu Weiyin suddenly shouted, manifesting the Moonlight Star Sword in her hand, flames bursting forth as she swung it toward Yu Gui.

Yu Gui’s form wafted like smoke, nimbly dodging the attack before reappearing.

He gazed at Qu Weiyin with deep affection, but his look made Luo Jinxiao feel repulsed. Just as she was about to approach, a surge of demonic energy interposed itself between them. Qu Weiyin shouted urgently, and Luo Jinxiao realized the urgency of the situation. The Nu Jue shot forth, blocking the dark, swirling demonic energy.

Before her stood the demon she had seen in the Demon Realm. Although it remained withered like a skeleton, it appeared to exude a bit more vitality than before.

It was pierced in the chest by Qu Weiyin’s sword yet still hadn’t perished.

With a grin revealing its yellowed teeth, it spoke, “Be careful!”

Just as Qu Weiyin’s warning echoed, a long knife made of demonic energy approached Luo Jinxiao. Quick to react, she raised the Nu Jue to block it.

The knife seemed to solidify upon impact, numbing her hands, and she was knocked back several feet before stabilizing herself.

“Your Excellency, your current strength cannot compete with us,” Yu Gui sighed, his tone gentle. He reached out with his slender, pallid hand, trying to grasp Qu Weiyin’s arm, but she recoiled in disgust.

Deep within the cave lay a massive, deceased spider, its long legs curled up in a tight ball. It appeared to have shrunk several sizes, and behind it were heaps of clutter, including not just bones, but withered branches and porcelain vases scattered about.

As the two sides stood in confrontation, Yu Gui suddenly spoke up, “Yao Yao.”

Out of nowhere, the boy they had seen before materialized, transforming into human form. He began rummaging through the pile of debris and soon produced a scroll, which he joyously handed to Yu Gui.

Seeing this, Luo Jinxiao silently chanted her mental incantation. A heavy object crashed to the ground outside the cave, and as she maneuvered through the spiderwebs, she transformed into a petite girl. With a speed invisible to the naked eye, she snatched the scroll from the boy’s hands.

The situation took a drastic turn. Realizing what had happened, Yu Gui spun around and rushed toward Qiongqi, but Qu Weiyin intercepted him. Channeling her spiritual energy into her palm, she unleashed a blinding golden light that pressed down on Yu Gui within the confined space.

Yu Gui retreated in anger, gritting his teeth as he shouted, “Your Excellency, we already have the diagram of the underworld formation. If we obtain the panorama of mountains and rivers as well, there’s no stopping our demon race across the four seas and six realms!”

Hearing his words, Qu Weiyin grew increasingly impatient. Her phoenix eyes blazed with anger. “I am not a demon.”

With his hair spilling around him, obscuring half of his face, only his grayish-white peach blossom eyes remained visible. Disappointment filled his expression as he shook his head. “Your Excellency, are you truly going to betray us?”

“Shut up!” Qu Weiyin was genuinely furious this time. She shouted, unleashing boundless spiritual energy that erupted from around her body, forcing Luo Jinxiao back a couple of steps.

Luo Jinxiao wanted to move forward to help her, but the demon creature in front of her seemed even more powerful. The demonic energy surrounding her made it almost impossible for her to resist, rendering her nearly powerless as the dark aura crept up her body, trying to envelop her entirely.

Qiongqi, nearby, wanted to come to her aid, but Luo Jinxiao yelled, “Quick, take what you have and get back to Wuhui Sect!”

Qiongqi let out a howl, caught between wanting to obey and fearing for its master’s safety, remaining stuck in place, unable to decide.

Luo Jinxiao silently recited the techniques the Sect Master had taught her. A chill coursed through her limbs, causing ice to form in her palms, hard as rock, pushing back against the demonic energy. At that moment, the Nu Jue propelled itself into the air, its silver-white light mingling with the illumination of Changming Tower, both piercing towards the demonic creature’s face.

During these past five years of training, her cultivation had advanced rapidly, astonishing even her master. She was on the verge of breaking through to the next stage but had become stuck at this critical juncture.

Fortunately, the Sect Master’s techniques were peculiar and ingenious enough to offer her a temporary deflection.

“Little thing, you can actually withstand me?” the creature, known as A Qiu, grunted as it narrowly avoided the blow from the Nu Jue, the stench of its yellowed teeth filling the air.

In a fit of irritation, Luo Jinxiao ripped a piece of spiderweb from her body and shoved it into A Qiu’s mouth, scolding, “Old thing, you really need to brush your teeth!”

A Qiu wailed, spitting out the webbing in anger, flames of rage flickering in its eyes as it stretched open its arms. Luo Jinxiao suddenly felt her legs go weak, nearly collapsing to the ground.

“Luo Jinxiao!” Qu Weiyin’s focus wavered, and she was struck by a palm from Yu Gui. With the opening this created, Yu Gui swiftly blew a bone whistle, sending Qu Weiyin into a dizzying state. Dreadful demonic energy surged, creating a warm sensation in her orifices.

Yu Gui approached Qu Weiyin with an expression of regret, shaking his head slowly. “Your Excellency, as long as you return to us, we will immediately elevate you as our leader. The demon realm has grown in strength, while the celestial path has splintered; the momentum is no longer in their favor.”

“Revenge for the demon realm will come sooner than you think. I am willing to help you overturn the world,” Yu Gui’s gaze burned with fervor, filled with admiration and longing.

“Have you forgotten? You said yourself that I am your only, most loyal support.” His voice was ethereal and ambiguous, as if it floated from the heavens.

Luo Jinxiao listened to these words, feeling nauseated as they churned in her stomach. She gripped the Nu Jue and swung it with determination, dispersing the encroaching demonic energy. Then she shouted, “Delusional! Do you think you, a crippled, sickly fool, are worthy of being my Master Uncle’s support?”

Fuming with anger, Luo Jinxiao’s verbal onslaughts only fueled her power, aiming right for the heart.

Yu Gui’s expression darkened to a deep shade of iron, his demeanor shifting as he stepped back from Qu Weiyin, channeling demonic energy into a powerful strike aimed directly at Luo Jinxiao. With both of them attacking, Luo Jinxiao couldn’t withstand it and was sent flying, crashing heavily to the ground and spitting out a mouthful of blood.

Seeing this, Qu Weiyin leaped forward to shield Luo Jinxiao, her face steely as her phoenix eyes blazed with fierce determination. Crossing her hands before her, she chanted a silent incantation. Suddenly, a beam of golden light descended from the heavens, like a massive arrow, piercing through the two figures opposite her.

Yu Gui revealed a ghastly smile, resembling a specter. As the light cleaved through him, his body quickly rejoined into one, and with a flick of his finger, he caused Qu Weiyin to suddenly suppress the demonic energy swirling within her, forcing her to half-kneel upon the ground.

The red dress she wore stirred without wind, her hair flying wildly around her, with blood trickling from the corner of her mouth, a picture of elegance intertwined with despair.

She struggled intensely against the demonic energy, but inside, she felt a complete collapse.

“Your Excellency, why do you continue to resist? You were born just like us—truly a demon,” Yu Gui said, shaking his head with a mocking smile as he reached out to caress Qu Weiyin’s face.

Luo Jinxiao wanted to intervene, but found herself immobilized.

Meanwhile, A Qiu appeared impatient, suddenly raising a hand, unleashing a bolt of demonic energy aimed straight for Luo Jinxiao, intent on killing her in one strike. Just then, a petite figure rushed in front of Luo Jinxiao, raising a hand to meet the attack.

“Little Sweet!” Luo Jinxiao cried out. She watched helplessly as Qiongqi’s small form absorbed the demon energy, but then suddenly collapsed to the ground, the scroll slipping from its grasp.

With an expression of normalcy, it turned back to Luo Jinxiao, managing to utter, “Master.”

Luo Jinxiao was left speechless, her teeth clenched tight as she gazed at the two demonic figures, trembling with rage.

The demon boy stepped forward to pick up the scroll, but suddenly, a gust of wind swept through, and a black claw grasped the scroll, turning to flee with all its might, leaving behind a figure that resembled a beggar.

Luo Jinxiao let out a sigh of relief; it was Yan Ying.

Luo Ning’s voice could be heard beside her, but she couldn’t make out what was being said. A Qiu, seeing that the scroll was snatched away again, grew furious and unleashed an intensity of demonic energy far beyond Zheng Luo Jinxiao’s comprehension, making it manifest right in front of her.

Luo Jinxiao turned, gritting her teeth, bracing herself. What she hadn’t expected was that a soft body would suddenly wrap around her, absorbing the full force of the demonic energy.

An unknown scream erupted in Luo Jinxiao’s ears, and in a daze, she realized that the scream belonged to her.

Qu Weiyin had thrown herself into her arms, the demonic energy around her gradually dissipating. A sudden cough erupted from her, and she spat out a mouthful of blood, which splattered all over Luo Jinxiao, warm and metallic.

“You finally showed up,” a voice echoed in her mind, aged and unfamiliar, seemingly only audible to her alone.

Holding Qu Weiyin tightly, an unexpected wave of heartache surged through Luo Jinxiao. A familiar yet alien power awakened within her, starting from her immortal veins and bursting forth in all directions.
