“Sir.”
Mhok let out a startled gasp when he noticed his employee standing before him. He was too immersed in admiring Day, who occupied a seat in the corner, listening intenly to the book he was currently working on.
Mhok sighed slowly. He knew that he couldn’t focus on his work with Day around.
“Yeah?”
The young man forwarded a tablet to Mhok, “Here. The monthly report you asked me yesterday.”
Mhok nodded and skimmed through the details vaguely because he had to reread it at home anyway, “Thanks, Jeff. The statistics don’t look bad, so I guess we’re good.”
“Yeah, sir.” Jeff wore a proud smile.
Mhok found himself glancing back at Day, “Uhm, can you go and ask him if he wants anything to eat or drink?” He could’ve asked it himself, but he didn’t want to distract Day. He had been working seriously on that book for the past month.
Jeff nodded, “Sure, sir. I’ll be right back.”
Mhok smiled. His employees were always supportive and hard-working, which made his work easier.
He noticed Day taking off his headphones and telling something to Jeff. He returned shortly afterward.
“What did he say?” Mhok asked in anticipation.
“Uh, he asked you to go there by your own if you want an answer.” Jeff shrugged.
Mhok chuckled. “Alright, Jeff. Let’s wrap up for the day. It’s evening anyway. Inform others as well, okay?”
“Yes, sir.” Jeff smiled widely.
Mhok approached Day and cleared his throat, “Sir, what would you like to eat? You’ve been sitting here for hours and haven’t ordered anything.”
A slow smile formed on Day’s face. He crossed his arms in front of his chest, putting on a poker face. “My husband is the owner of this café. I can stay here for as long as I want.”
Mhok’s heart skipped a beat like it did every time Day used that word. Even after having been married for two years, Day still had that effect on him.
Mhok pulled a chair and sat beside him. He leaned closer to his ear and whispered, “If you’re going to say stuff like that, I just might kiss you here.”
Day didn’t let his composure falter, even though he knew that Mhok might do that, “You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me,” Mhok turned his face towards him and placed a quick kiss on his cheek.
“P’Mhok!” Day put his hands against Mhok’s chest to keep a distance, “You can’t do that here.”
“And why is that?” The platinum rings made contact as Mhok rested his hands on top of Day’s.
“People will see,” Day tried to reason with him.
“No one’s around,” Mhok assured, “I sent them home. We’re closed for today.”
“Oh,” Day withdrew his hands and fiddled with his fingers.
“And what if anyone saw us? Everyone knows we’re married anyway.”
“You know, it’s just that I don’t like it when people are watching.” Day lowered his head.
Mhok held him by the shoulders, “I know. I would never do anything you dislike.”
Day smiled because he knew that Mhok was saying the truth.
“I’d be sad for two days, but I’ll be okay after that.” Mhok pouted.
Day shook his head, “You’re impossible, Phi.”
“P’Mhok.”
“……..”
“Mhok.”
That grabbed Mhok’s undivided attention. Day had never dropped the honorifics before, no matter what.
“Danaiyanat Koprannaphakun.”
Day gulped in nervousness, hearing Mhok call his full name.
“P’Mhok.” Day held his hands, “Don’t be like that now.” He tried to persuade his sulking lover.
“Like what?” Mhok was enjoying this. He loved it when Day to make up whenever Mhok sulked.
“Okay, you win.” He sighed in exasperation.
“Then, compensate me.” Mhok smirked, dropping his hand to Day’s waist.
“Really? Yesternight wasn’t enough?” Day was dumbfounded.
Mhok pouted again, “Alright. I’ll be sad for two- “
“Fine!” Day almost laughed. Sometimes, he wondered if Mhok was actually older than him.
Mhok grinned widely. He won this time, too, like he did always. He began to unbutton Day’s shirt, but Day quickly held his hands.
“Here?!” Day asked in panic.
Mhok took his hands back and laughed, “I just wanted to see your reaction. That was adorable.” He had been teasing Day a lot more these days which Day absolutely didn’t prefer.
“You know what? I’m tired and sleepy.” It was now Day’s turn to tease him.
“Hey! You can’t do that.”
“Do what?” He blinked, feigning innocence.
Mhok shook his head and smiled, “Let’s go home. You must be hungry, you haven’t eaten for hours now.”
Mhok grabbed Day’s hand and exited the café. He locked the place before getting in the car.
“Great. It’s raining now.” Mhok halted the car in front of their home.
“Is Hazel outside?” Day asked in concern.
“No. He must be sleeping inside.”
Mhok helped Day get out of the car.
“P’Mhok.”
“Yeah?” Mhok knew what was coming. So he sighed in advance.
“I want to stay in the rain.”
It was inevitable, so he gave in. “You wouldn’t stop even if I say that you’d have a fever after playing in the rain, right?”
Day nodded, “Yess.”
“Alright. Do as you wish- hey!”
“No, you play too.” Day dragged Mhok as well, getting both of them soaked.
Day’s excitement and joy were so contagious that Mhok couldn’t help but smile. He jumped around like a kid without caring about anything.
One thing Mhok liked about the rain was that Day looked even prettier in the rain. Without realizing it, Mhok took steps closer to him.
He placed his hand on the back of Day’s neck, “P’Mhok- “
He crashed his lips onto Day’s, holding him close. They parted after kissing for a while.
Even in the rain, Day’s flushed face wouldn’t go unnoticed.
“I want to play some more.” Day announced and scooted away from him in embarrassment, “Are you going to stay here? You can go in if you want- “
“I’ll stay.” Mhok announced. “I’ll stay forever.”
It was a promise. One that he’d always keep.
“Forever?” Day’s eyes lit up.
“Yes.” Mhok confirmed.
Day smiled and tilted his head towards the pouring sky.
“I’m yours, after all.” Mhok’s whisper was faded out by the rain. But it didn’t matter. Day knew it anyway.
Mhok smiled and glanced at him with love-filled eyes as the younger continued to play in the rain.
Mhok couldn’t ask for anything more. He had everything he wanted and needed. Nothing in the world mattered to him more than Day.
All those years when Mhok was around a lot of people, he was still lonely. All those years when Day was sighted, he was still in the dark.
But the moment they found each other, they found themselves.
They found what they had been missing out all this while.
The world that Day couldn’t see with his sighted eyes, he saw it with his unsighted ones.
It was almost as if a blindfold was taken off his eyes.
Because Mhok had finally completed unveiling him.
