A/N*** – I apologize for the months hiatus, mental health has taken a toll on me but I’m doing significantly better. I’ll do my best to make you all happy.
.
Your phone beeps and you’re quick to see it’s a message from William, it read, “Let me know if I should change anything but how does heading to (Nearby fancy restaurant ðŸ¤) at 5:30PM sound? I want to treat you tonight <3” That last bit makes you audibly laugh slightly at his silly and flirtatious behavior that you have really grown to love. Although, you think you love practically every part of that man and he makes you feel so giddy.
Thankfully text allows you to hide your overbearing emotions and you respond with a little, “Yeah, that sounds good! Is it possible I head home from work a little early to get changed? Is Henry okay with this?” Afterwards you start walking a bit more of your way to work before halting again when you get an answer. Let’s hope you don’t get kidnapped with all this standing around in public… (Bad ending 😱)
“Mhm, sounds alright. I don’t really care about what Henry has to say, just do what you need to. Need me to pick you up?” William typed back and his dismissal of Henry does make you roll your eyes slightly but in a joking manner. You do sometimes feel bad for Henry on how little William seems to value his input but hopefully, Henry doesn’t really mind that much. Right? You’re not too sure anymore. Henry kind of feels like the emotionally available dad that you think is looking out for you? Maybe you’re overthinking things.
“You don’t need to but if you want, sure 🙂 Seems fun!” You hastily reply with a small laugh as you check the time to make sure you shouldn’t be hurrying up. Thankfully you still have some time to make it to work.
That cherished beep sounds again, “Good <3 Talk to you later, then” William’s message read and you can’t help but reply with a little “<3” in return, you put your phone away.
Your mood was very enlightened and you start your walk to work once again with a smile of pride. Growing up, you did have your sister try to set you up on dates but that was when your sexuality was under wraps. So you never went. Maybe your refusal should have told her a few things. Nevertheless, you had your first official date and you couldn’t hardly wait. You’re fully aware that William seems to move very fast romantically but you don’t mind really, although his touchy behavior is something else… Not that you don’t like it but you’re not used to how much attention William gives you, he makes you feel tingly all over.
The sight of the diner comes into view and you smile to yourself, a feeling of satisfaction running through your veins like a jolt of adrenaline. You take a deep breath before walking to the door and giving it a firm push, met with that familiar pizza smell. The constant cooking of pizza left a permanent yet comforting scent of pizza, although, you don’t think you could eat a lot of pizza because of it. It kind of ruined pizza for you, the cheesy goodness still looks so gooey and yummy but the minute it’s in your mouth? It’s not as good as a 12 year old version of you would have said it was.
You typically pack a couple of snacks for lunch but today you didn’t for obvious reasons. You’re rather surprised the door is unlocked today but don’t question it all too much as you walk your way to the other side of the building. A small glance at the stage sends shiver through you at the sight of the big yellow bunny towering over you. You weren’t usually scared of him but after that incident, you’ve been a little nervous. You know he’s not going to just walk off the stage and get you, that’s absurd. And yet you’re still scared. You really shouldn’t be.
What happened was a small accident that you mostly blocked out, your memory is vague on what happened. All you remember is Spring Bonnie, blood, and William. It’s weird, you recall remembering it very clearly for a while and now it’s all so fuzzy. William did talk to you about it at some point and you’re grateful for him but you just wished your mind would let you remember it clearly. You’re tired of the occasional pity looks from your coworkers, everyone probably knows more about what happened then you do. And that’s scary. You resent being such a pity case to everyone, the idea that possibly the people in your life are only here because they feel bad. It’s like your own brain doesn’t want you to relive those moments anymore…
You settle yourself down at one of the side benches, taking in the scenario around you and trying to absorb the mostly positive energy surrounding you. It’s quaint and quiet right now. You’re caught off guard when the presence of someone else joins you on the bench and you dart your eyes there quickly. The clear sight of William welcomes you, it’s weird, sometimes his presence is immediately noticed and other times, it’s not. Regardless, you feel an infectious smile make it onto your face.
“Well, hello there, my darling.” William greets sweetly, a crooked grin decorating that face you’ve grown to absolutely adore. His words make your heart skip a beat, usually he called you darling but that extra two-letter word? William was calling you his and you didn’t know how to feel about that, he definitely knew the effect he had on you. You normally never noticed details like that but maybe it’s the fact that William said it…
You start to stammer, losing any bit of causal confidence you had prior as his words send you into overdrive. You thought you got used to anything he could say yet here you were. “I- H… Hi!” You anxiously chirp out in response, your fingers fidgeting with one another as your smile only grows.
William lets out a pleasant hum, seeming satisfied with your answer as he takes a glance around the building, your eyes glued to him. Your flustered side settles down as you start to ponder what could be going on inside his head, there was no doubt in your mind that he was a brilliant man. Alongside Henry, they built this wonderful place and clearly have so many more plans, it’s beyond exciting.
You’re about to say something to get his attention as he’s seeming to be lost in thought but you’re cut off when the sudden sight of Fritz enters your vision. He has this mischievous smirk as he helps himself to sitting down on your other side which gets both of yours and William’s attention. You’re quick to give Fritz a small little wave as you’re a little confused on why he’s here earlier than he usually is. Not that it’s bad.
“Sooo, how you love birds doing?” Fritz teases, leaning close to your face and you hear William let out an annoyed groan. You dart your eyes away in slight embarrassment at the very bold question and his word choice, you definitely noticed that out of your coworkers, Fritz was the more daring one. Especially around William, you couldn’t shake the weird feeling of tension that loomed over the conversation when your coworkers got involved. The tension was incredibly thick when Scott was around but you tried your very to ignore it since it wasn’t your business.
Taking both of your silence with pleasure, Fritz only smirks before continuing, “You could at least try denying it, you know. Make it more fun.” He snickers, giving your shoulder a light shove before walking away with pride gleaming in his smile.
You sigh in slight relief, you really shouldn’t be so embarrassed about it anymore. Fritz technically isn’t wrong, right? So why does it make you feel like a high schooler with a crush?
“Ignore him. He doesn’t know when to shut up.” William mutters at your side, pinching the bridge of his nose before he lets out an exasperated sigh. You do notice a slight hint of blush on his face which you can’t tell if it’s just embarrassment or not. William doesn’t show too many reactions in the romantic sense so seeing that, you can’t help but take it in a good way.
“Yeah, I can see that.” You playfully respond, flashing him an awkward little smile to try and ease the moment. Your eyes meet William’s eyes and it’s like little sparks, they make you feel satisfied. It doesn’t help he returns your smile with a light smirk, maybe your admiration for him is a little too noticeable…
It feels like you’re both making eye contact for forever until he breaks the moment of sweet silence that probably was only a few seconds. “Anyways, it’s a pleasure as always to see you, sweetheart. But work calls, I’ll see you soon.” William states nonchalantly but you can feel the teasing through those last few words, it’d be a lie to say you weren’t over the moon about the plans.
“Oh right, of course! You do your…things! Bye…” You sheepishly respond, feeling a flustered feeling hit your mind like a harsh wave. The idea of a date still so new to you and you have untamable excitement because how could you not?
Your gay little heart can barely handle it all, your hopeful eyes stare at William as he walks away to his usual hallway. That hallway… Your mood turns a little sour but you try to ignore that pit in your stomach but you can’t help it. Coming from such a…”controlling” family, if you can call it just that, you think you might have grown a hatred for people telling you what to do.
You don’t know how to feel about everything going on but with William, you’re happy and after everything, you’re allowed to be selfish… right? There’s nothing wrong with, right? Right???
