If you see something wrong, do something about it.
That’s what my mother taught me. I didn’t have the greatest relationship with my parents. No, they were very loving but I was not. They didn’t know what changed me when all they tried to do was give me the best childhood.
Yes, things got tough sometimes but they were there.
Despite their love, I has a cold heart. I was always quiet and observant. A few friends on the way but I wouldn’t say my heart was with anyone. My tolerance for nice people was close to none.
They tried all they could to give me love but as time went on. They didn’t know what to love. But even to this day, I could walk back home and my mom would feed me like a child and cry when she sees me.
They loved me still.
I used their lessons in many situations. Especially now when Aidan was not safe. I didn’t care what anyone said, Aidan had to be safe.
I managed to spend the whole night writing a report and making a plan on what I would do if the Military police decided to not take this seriously.
I would be forced to kill or do something worse when I take matters into my own hands.
“Good morning soldiers. Before our class begins, I want you to listen to my next words very carefully.” I stood in front of my trainees, hands on my back.
I was only wearing a black t-shirt with the military badge and my military pants with the boots.
It was the morning after Aidan was assaulted but my baby came to class. The military police replied to my email saying they were sending officers to investigate further into the case.
“There are seven male trainees who has made it a habit to prey after girls who are alone in places nobody can rescue them. They are predators and I am getting it handled. I know you might think you are strong now so you can beat up these boys but if you are alone or it’s just the two of you. The odds might not be in your favor. So don’t go into the woods, mountains, lake or anywhere alone. Nomatter how strong you think you are. Am I clear?” I stopped walking around and looked at them.
“Yes, Sergeant” They all replied.
Aidan had her eyes on me, more like my body.
“Good. But if it comes to it, don’t go down without a fight. If they attack any of you, fight. You are my soldiers, those boys got nothing on you.”
I heard light chuckles and wow, that was the first time I made my trainees give a positive reaction.
“Now back to the lesson. This is the last week before exams so it’s obviously revision which means you all know most of the things I will be asking you. If I ask you a question and you don’t give me the right answer, there will be punishments On Spot” I could feel my eyes darken with excitement.
I knew they were about to shed a few tears if they came unprepared. I saw them tense up and fear crossed their features.
“Today is simple. I have 50 cards for each one of you. These cards got 3 different questions on them. If I hand you a card, stand up come in front and answer the questions in full detail. Take this as a presentation on spot”
I took out the cards I had placed on my desk and made eye contact with the person sitting in front. I placed the first card down.
“Private Cruza. Looks like you got lucky. You are first”
Jaimie nervously took the card and stood up. I sat on the chair in front while facing all of them. She read the first question out loud
“Describe the difference between symmetric and asymmetric warfare” Jaimie read the question out loud.
“Symmetric warfare refers to traditional, state-on-state conflict where two or more opposing forces engage in conventional military operations. This type of warfare is characterized by equal or matched capabilities, direct confrontation, and a linear battlefield.” Jaimie was confident moving her hands while she explained.
Did these kids study last night?.
“Symmetric warfare typically involves
Conventional military forces, such as infantry, artillery, and armor
Equal or matched capabilities, including manpower, equipment, and resources
Direct confrontation, with forces clashing on a defined battlefield
Linear battlefield, with clear frontlines and objectives.
Some historical examples of symmetric warfare include World War I and II, the Korean War, and the Gulf War. In these conflicts, opposing forces engaged in traditional military operations, with a focus on defeating the enemy’s military forces. Meanwhile Asymmetric warfare ….”
Jaimie went on and on giving her opinions about what she thought in her answers. By the time she finished all three questions which took 30 minutes, I was ready to sleep.
I asked her to sit down and called the next trainee. They all studied and I was so bored cause I really wanted to see sweat and tears. This teaching stuff was boring.
I loved guns and the roar of violence. But I was proud to know I scared them enough to study so hard.
I felt someone looking at me. They all were but she was really staring hard.
AIDAN.
I directed my gaze on her. She bit her lip pretending to be looking somewhere else. I didn’t look away until she brought her eyes back on me and we held eye contact.
She brought her bottom lip In her mouth and bit it with her teeth nervously. I was phased by the action but I didn’t show it.
“Sergeant Chase?” A trainee was standing in front of me.
“Yes?”
“Can I have a card, it’s my turn”
Why the fuck were they excited to answer my cards?.
“Oh yes” I gave her a card then my eyes went back to my baby.
I wanted her close. In my arms where I could keep her safe and never let any harm come to her. I wanted those cute pink lips on my own. I wanted her, spread on my…
Then suddenly she stood up coming my way. I watched her get closer until she was in front of me.
“It’s my turn now Sergeant Chase. May I have a card” Her soft voice reached my ears.
“Sure. Here you go”
She took the card making sure our fingers brushed against each other. I watched her stand up facing the class with her ass in front of me.
I couldn’t help but stare.
My baby was sexy.
Uh no. Do you realize how wrong that is. Chase, snap out of it.
I didn’t like my conscious either.
“Question one, the stages of a developed plan to secure a strategic city.”
Suddenly, I was paying attention. She explained the steps and why it’s necessary to do each step. I was so proud of how smart she was. I could tell she was going to be good with leadership roles.
“What are the challenges of sustaining military operations in austere environments” She read the last question put loud then she was frozen.
I frowned. That was an easy question. Why was she freezing up. Then she turned around and looked at me with a fake pout.
“I don’t know the answer to this one Sergeant Chase”
What the fuck was she playing at?.
“Black, think. The challenges can’t be…”
“I really don’t know” She was lying.
Why was she lying?.
“Private Black, you have one last chance or I’m gonna have to punish you” I warned glaring at the girl who smirked then covered it up with a sad face.
What the hell.
“Okay then, 50 squats and 50 push-ups.”
Her face fell and I wondered what she wanted. Of all the times I could read her, this time I was lost.
Why did Aidan pretend not to know the answer?.
