SERGEANT CHASE
“I need your help Percy.” He was the only person I could trust at that moment.
I had no other option. I knew I was not getting out of here alive. I called it upon myself and I felt so disappointed in myself for failing Aidan like that.
“What happened?. Are you okay?” Percy asked in concern.
“Yeah, of course I am. I need your help because you are the only person left to trust.” I made sure my voice was low.
We were drinking sitting in our own corner away from other stuff members. It was the night before graduation. Everything was sinking. The second I realized my mistake, I became aware of how bad things were about to be.
“Sure, you can tell me anything” Percy whispered
“I messed up Percy. This system is so fucked up. I don’t know how it happened but… I can’t do anything to stop these…these people. But my trainees…I can help my trainees” It was hard to admit I lost.
I lost because Commander Military General was in on the deal. I only found out after I sent a coded message to a friend who only replied an hour ago.
The message was for my friend, Rebecca to check on what was happening with the soldiers being taken without their names on record. She told me Commander General is the one who had enough power to pull that off. To make matters worse, he had been receiving money after every 3 months.
He was covering for illegally misleading recruits and it was never on record. All his people were here to make sure this graduation looked real when they were just using it to make sure parents don’t figure out where their kids were going.
Two weeks later, they turn up dead.
“Tell me what you need me to do?”
“This is the last copy that is proof that these kids trained here. All their documents and performances. All 250 of them. I want you to submit it to CIA or FBI. Look for Agent Rebecca. She is an honest cop. She knows what to do” I handed him the hard drive under the table.
“Rebecca…?”
“FBI agent Rebecca London. Hide it in your tires or something. Make sure you give her this face to face. It’s important” I pleaded.
“You can count on me. I will give it to her. That’s the only copy?” Percy curiously asked.
“Yeah. I think you and I are the only people who can be witnesses. I want these kids to get their dream to serve the country. These bastards are selfishly taking that away from all those trainees” I took a sip of my drink.
Percy and I chatted for a while until midnight and I decided it was time to sleep early before these people got me drunk and incapable of fighting.
I said my goodbyes then went home. I was feeling a little tipsy but nothing I could not handle. When I reached my cabin, I felt this gut feeling.
Something horrible.
Something was not right.
My instinct went to Aidan. I never got inside my cabin. I made way to the mountain grounds where Trainees were celebrating their graduation. They didn’t even look for those seven boys who happened to be dead.
All seven dead bodies were missing from the lake the next day. I knew they covered it up to avoid police investigating and discovering what had been happening.
They were getting trainees slaughtered to save their lives.
But I didn’t understand how bad it was for even some of the best assassin private security companies to reject protecting those political men. They must have double crossed someone very powerful.
They took away something important from someone dangerous. Possibly, a criminal.
I finally arrived where these kids were hanging out. They were allowed to celebrate their last night in BCT training and passing.
All 50 of my trainees passed.
I looked around. Some were obviously having sex in the woods. Some were drinking while others just talked amongst themselves. I saw my baby having fun with her team. People were mixed up but they were standing together all seven of them.
I watched for a while. At some point she stood up started doing push-ups while the crowd chanted. Then she removed her shirt and that was the limit for me.
I tapped one of the tipsy trainees.
“What?”
“I need you to go call that girl doing push-ups without a shirt. I need to speak to her”
“Who are you?”
“Someone who gets annoyed by young boys who ask too many questions as if they want their tongues cut out” The line came out of my mouth before I even processed my words.
“Now I am definitely not putting that girl in danger”
Ugh males and their stupid slow brains. I made way to where Aidan was. I didn’t want to be seen so I tapped Alice and told her to call Aidan.
Alice then winked at me in her drunken state as if she knew some secret.
“Alice, call Aidan for me”
“You miss her already?” She slurred then attempted to wink at me again.
“Alice go call Aidan, now” I ordered sternly which had her moving at my command finally.
Ugh drunken teenagers are annoying.
Aidan showed up even more drunk than Alice.
“Chase!!” Aidan squeeled jumping on me but she was so drunk, she fell on her butt.
“Ugh seriously Aidan?” I grabbed her by hand just in case someone noticed.
“Don’t…scold…me. I’m your baby”
Oh my god what the fuck.
“Aidan shut up” I growled.
“No”
I was way too tired to deal with Aidan. As much as I wanted to take her to my cabin. I was not safe so that would put her in danger.
These people were coming after me. That same night.
“Aidan baby I need you to focus on me and listen very carefully, okay?” I made her stand upright.
“Y..yes” She hiccuped still nodding
“Good girl”
Then she giggled. I breathed out to calm myself down.
“There is a library in Melbourne, Australia. It’s called Fantasy Palace. Are you listening baby?” I held her up against a tree.
“Yes, Fantasy Palace. Melbourne, Aus…Australia” She gave me a lazy proud smile.
“Good. When you get there tell the librarian what I told you about heros. She will give you something important.”
“But..but won’t you come with me?. We are moving in together?” She sounded so sad even still drunk.
“I am not sure if I will survive the night babygirl. You just keep yourself alive with your team members” I pushed the sweaty hair behind her ear and she hummed pushing herself on me to cuddle into me.
Aidan fell asleep right on my shoulder and I had never cried in my life but that moment, a tear ran down my cheek and another one followed.
“We will live together, forever” She mumbled then went back to sleep.
I had a reason to fight but I didn’t stand a chance. I should have known when Commander Jonathan brought 30 men as security. He was obviously coming after me.
I went back to the girls then handed Aidan to a tipsy Jaimie. I knew they would take care of each other. I kissed Aidan one last time then made way back to my death trap.
I walked for several minutes. When I arrived my cabin was open. I frowned taking out my gun then I heard voices from inside.
“She came here I’m telling you. She gave me the drive then left” I heard Percy’s voice.
My mind went frenzy in shock. I peeped in to see the Commander Jonathan being the one Private Percy was talking to. Senior Shepherd was also in the room.
“Then where could she have gone?. Look, she is the only one who is a threat to our operations. I am not letting her live long enough to ruin our plans. Find her and kill her on sight” He ordered Percy.
“M..me?”
“You vouched for her to come train, she is your mistake. Get rid of your mistake before I get rid of you”
I stepped back to leave before they noticed but when I turned around, my face was met with an excruciating pain. Someone hit me hard and I fell on the ground.
“Found her”
Fuck
