SERGEANT CHASE
Week 8 came around.
The trainees got a lot more competitive and they worked harder. All of them were training in a way I didn’t understand. The night training was now in motion but they were not complaining.
“Privates! Today I want to see you fight!. I want to see your strength, your tactics, use your opponent’s weaknesses. Study their moves and defeat them. Remember those weaknesses because you are going to tell each other after so your opponent knows what to work on!! Everybody take your mark”
They all knew their partners. I was going to switch them on Saturday before I updated the chart they so desperately wanted.
“Let the fight begin! Geoma and Burton you are first!”
Dawn and Alice stood in the middle then began to spar. I could see they were stronger and listened to my teachings through the week. To my surprise, my shy little favorite won the fight. Dawn.
“Good job Geoma! What was her weakness?” I circled them.
“Her turning points are not fast enough. I could easily take advantage of her by moving behind her instead of side to side”
She softly spoke.
“Burton! What was your opponent’s weakness?” I stepped in from of Alice.
“She is too fast. I could take advantage of her fast pace by seeing her move first before I countered”
I smiled at their observations.
“Next pair! Move by your line from right to left!”
The whole morning I watched them fight against each other pair by pair. The last pair was Aidan and Jaimie.
“Private Black and Private Cruza! You wanted to fight so much, Show me what you got!”
The two moved in the middle ground then began to fight. Unlike others, these two were not holding back. They really wanted to hurt each other.
Jaimie managed to get Aidan on the ground but she got up and continued to fight. It lasted longer and they were angry at each other. Really angry.
“Come on Aidan, I know dad taught you better than this. Why are you holding back!?” Jamie was breathing hard.
Wow, they knew each other?.
“I’m not holding back. You are making this personal as always. You are too emotional Jaimie!” Aidan gritted her teeth and Jaimie threw a punch at her in anger.
They fought back and forth letting out their anger. Aidan finally got Jaimie on her knees then kicked her down in the neck completely taking her down. Then they stopped and I called them to stand in front of me.
They stood in front if me bloody faces and I knew they were going to look horrible.
“I want you both to resolve this because I will not let you continue this way. Private Black, what are Cruza’s weaknesses!”
“She is too blinded by emotion and it makes her fucking weak” Aidan glared at the girl.
“It makes me fucking human. Excuse me if my father made you into a fucking robot!” Jaimie retorted
“This has nothing to do with our past Jaimie!” Aidan stepped closer and they were standing chest to chest.
“It has everything to do with our past!. Why are you here?. You left and now you are here acting like we are strangers!.” Jaimie hit Aidan in the chest.
“Because this is not the place Jaimie!. Stop trying to get my attention all the time. You are letting your heart get in the way. We are not 16 anymore!” Aidan spat coldly.
I could tell her words definitely were hard to take in for Jaimie.
“You are such a hollow cold hearted motherfucking bitch. I wish I never met you, I wish I never knew you and I definitely wish I didn’t fucking love you!” Jaimie pushed Aidan on the ground and stormed away.
In our training back in the day, our Trainer used to let us fight it out but that didn’t work with these two. I was left confused. From what I got, Aidan and Jaimie knew each other.
There was too much history involved.
Jaimie’s father was somehow connected to Aidan and they were very close before Aidan left Jaimie.
And Jaimie loved Aidan?.
What a wrack.
“All Cardets, We will meet here after lunch. Next training, defeating improvised explosive devices and mines!!”
“Yes, Sergeant Chase!”
They all marched away to lunch. I decided to find Jaimie first. From watching her, I knew barbells were her go to.
And I was right. She was letting out her anger by working out.
“As much as I love watching my trainees work hard. You might hurt yourself with that.” I stood in front of her hands behind my back.
“Sergeant” She stood straight up saluting.
“That was a pretty heated fight back there Private.” I pointed out.
“I am sorry for the drama. Having her here is taking a toll on me.” Jaimie sighed.
“I don’t know your past but I would like for you to come with me so you can talk it out without other people around. Physical fights are not allowed. I didn’t report the last one but if you have another fight, I will have to report. So I will help you find common ground where you can finish your training without attacking each other”
Jaimie nodded.
“Yes, Sergeant I will come with you”
She didn’t have a choice anyway.
To my luck Aidan was sitting outside holding what looked like a notebook and a pencil. She was sketching looking very focused with her tongue a little out on the side of her mouth.
Ohw so cute.
“Black. Follow me”
I had no choice but to take them to my barrack. They both followed behind me. I opened my door with a key them let them in. It was not big.
Just a table, a little old stove then the wall separating the room that had a bed, and my bag. Then the bathroom was outside.
“Take a seat” I pointed at the two chairs. Both girls sat down and I chose to stand.
“I have watched you exchange horrible words against each other. You are soldiers, you should be united, not fighting against each other so I want this conflict solved right here right now before lunch is over”
They both stared at each other then looked away.
“Jamie speak first then Aidan explain your side of the story after. No interruptions”
I had never used their names but this was something very personal. Jaimie sighed then looked up.
“I am angry because when my father adopted you, I found a friend and a partner in crime. We got to know each other and despite our better judgment, we had a sexual relationship in which I ended up falling in love with you. Which was one sided. And the night after I confessed my feelings for you, I woke up and you were gone. When you joined our family, my father trained you. After he left, he got on my case and I had to be pushed to join the army because of you”
Jaimie finished her side of the story.
“Aidan your turn”
“I’m sorry I hurt you. Can we go now?” She answered curtly.
“I deserve to know why you left Aidan. Where did you even go, you had no one else to go to” Jaimie pushed.
“Don’t ask for things you won’t want to know Jaimie”Â
The whole time Aidan never looked at me.I wondered if I was the reason she was holding back from talking.
“But I do want to know”
“If I tell you, will you stop attacking me every chance you get?” Aidan asked Jaimie.
“Yes, I promise” Jaimie clenched her fists.
“Your father heard you confessing those feelings to me. He came into my room late at night and woke me up with a gun against my head. He accused me of turning you into something like that. Into liking women. He told me to pack my stuff before the sun rise and be out of his house and your life otherwise he was going to send you away”
Aidan finally confessed.
“Y..you are lying. He would never do that” Jaimie stood up, eyes blazing in anger.
“I don’t care if you want to believe me or not. Just stop coming at me. I’m sick of it” Aidan got up and left.
Jaimie left right after thanking me.
Wow, young love drama.
Watched these revelations like a reality show. I was a soldier not a relationship therapist. All these emotional talks were making me crave a drink. Everything was getting tense.
For my peace I hoped they would stop with the drama from there on. Lord knew I was having my own problems.
Like dreams about someone’s naked body that refused to leave my mind.
Fucking hell
