kim jiwoong x reader
it’s a wonder to jiwoong how you still haven’t figured out how he feels about you, even though he finds a way to disrupt every date you go on and is glued to your side 24/7.

you stormed out of the restaurant mortified and hugged your jacket closer to you.

“y/n! wait up!” jiwoong called trying to catch up to you, this only made you pick up your pace defiantly.

he caught up with you in no time despite your efforts and you cursed him for being the athletic one in this friendship.

“hey, you mad at me or something?” his voice was soft as he tried to catch your eye.

you sighed deeply folding your arms and rolling your eyes slightly before looking at him. “did you have to cause such a scene in there?”

he held his hands up in surrender but you could see the laugh he was holding back and the fact he still wasn’t taking you seriously pissed you off.

“i was just doing you a favour. that guy was a douchebag.”

this had been the fourth date of yours that jiwoong had ruined that month. to be fair it was genuinely because they were never good people but you didn’t need him to babysit you.

“i could have found that out myself jiwoong. i don’t need you to coddle me, i’m not ten.” you explained exasperatedly.

his lips twitched downward for a moment and you felt your heart twist with guilt for a little, but you stood your ground.

jiwoong’s usual smirk returned in seconds however, “i just can’t help but look out for my favourite girl.”

you hated yourself for getting butterflies in your stomach from the simple statement. he often said things like that, flirty comments that made you flustered and had you wondering if you were more than just a friend to him.

but he was like that with everyone. it was just the way he was.

you rolled your eyes again turning around and continuing your walk home.

jiwoong once again caught up with you and nudged your shoulder a little. “don’t be mad. i only wanted to help.”

you kept your focus on the ground ignoring his pleas.

the boy sped up so he could stand in front of you and you sighed once again, about to sidestep away when his hand made contact with the base of your chin, index finger lifting your face up to meet his eyes. “can you at least look at me.”

you wished a hole would appear and swallow you up just so you could avoid staring at how handsome he looked in that moment and so you wouldn’t have to come to terms with how in love you were with him.

your cheeks heated up and you cleared your throat. “i’m looking.”

he smiled softly at your reaction and the fact that your eyes were finally on him. “i’m sorry, okay. i just didn’t want you going out with that guy after i heard about all of the shit he gets up to. i’ll stop meddling! scouts honour.” he put his hand over his chest.

you bit back a smile. “you were never even a boys scout and your heart is over here idiot.” you moved his hand over to the left side of his chest.

he grinned. “i knew that!”

you let a short laugh escape your lips and he knew he was forgiven.

“c’mon it’s getting late.” his arm was outstretched and you stepped underneath it to wrap it around your shoulders.

you didn’t talk too much on the way back, both of you lost in your own thoughts.

it was impossible to get over kim jiwoong when he always found ways to disrupt your attempts, but you weren’t sure you could keep up with this push and pull game any longer.

***

you sat in the back of the lecture hall doodling in your notebook, feeling grateful that jiwoong always showed up just before class started for once.

you weren’t sure you were ready to face him just yet. he had dropped you home the night before and soon after you had finally come to terms with the fact you were head over heels for him and no amount of meaningless dates could change that.

you tried to look at the situation logically.

it wasn’t like jiwoong liking you back was completely out of the question. after all he did go out of his way to look into any person you were interested in.

then again he always had been naturally protective.

you wanted to rip your hair out because of the frustration this whole situation was causing you.

you were pulled back down to reality once your friend saerom finally arrived. “hey y/n, brought you coffee.”

your heart swelled at her sweet gesture and you took the disposable coffee cup from her hands smiling.

her shoulder length hair was tied back into a low bun with front strands pulled out, that fell into her face as she sipped her own drink.

“you’re actually the best.” you praised, gulping down the hot liquid. the caffeine immediately making you feel a little more alert.

she nodded smiling. “what had you looking all tense?” saerom wanted to know as she unfolded her desk in the lecture hall to get her things ready.

you sighed looking up to avoid her eyes and she already knew what you were going to say.

“y/n, you have got to let that guy stop getting to you. either you confess or you tell him to stop playing around.” saerom flicked your temple lightly and you frowned rubbing at it.

“he’s not…getting to me. it’s just i don’t know.” you groan.

he was in fact getting to you. he was all you could think about these days.

even on the date yesterday, you were doing everything in your power not to think about him, only for him to show up and ruin it. now he had infiltrated your thoughts even more.

you looked over your shoulder cautiously expecting him to show up any second.

your professor had arrived and started getting ready for the lecture, shuffling his papers around and preparing the overhead projector.

jiwoong was never particularly early to class but he always showed up before the professor.

you looked back at saerom and she had a disappointed look on her face.

“what?” you whined, hating how judgemental she could be sometimes.

“stop thinking about him.” she said pointedly and you rolled your eyes.

it was easier said than done. you understood why saerom wasn’t very fond of jiwoong. she knew him as the playboy who was constantly the reason for her friend’s distress. she only conversed with him when she absolutely needed to despite the fact he was glued to your side half the day.

she didn’t ever get to see the sweet jiwoong you had fallen for. the caring guy who looked out for you and whose kind gestures made you feel like the only girl in the world.

your professor began to speak, greeting everybody before he started the class. you picked up your phone, checking to see if you had any missed calls or texts from jiwoong.

the seat to the right of you remained empty throughout the lecture and you bit at your nails.

he never missed lectures, especially not morning ones. if he were to, he would have texted you.

you frowned, nibbling at your lip as you thought about sending a text asking him where he was. you ended up brushing it aside, thinking you were probably overreacting.

the 90 minutes dragged on slowly and you made your way back to your dorm, bidding saerom goodbye when you had to part ways.

you fiddled with your keys absentmindedly as you got to the dorm. your elbow accidentally hit your door and it creaked open. your eyes widened a bit and you dropped your bag and keys slowly before peering in hesitantly.

you yelped in surprise as you finally noticed a very injured jiwoong half asleep on your couch.

“jiwoong? what the fuck? are you okay?” the questions came out jumbled and all at once.

he blinked his eyes drowsily sitting up as he smiled at you as if he wasn’t sporting a nasty black eye.

“hey baby.” in any other circumstance the nickname would have you melting to the floor, but you were ready to smack him upside the head due to the situation he had gotten himself in and the fact he hadn’t called you.

“don’t ‘hey baby’ me. what the hell happened?” you moved over to sit next to him, examining his face carefully, your hands rested on his broad shoulders as you did so.

“jiwoong.” you pleaded sadly when he didn’t say anything and he was smiling. he was actually smiling right now and he was so lucky he was already injured because otherwise you would have attempted to smack that grin off his face twice by now.

“it’s cute when you worry about me.” jiwoong smirked and you finally gave into your urge to slap him, hitting his knee.

“ouch.” he hissed moving his leg away from you far too quickly, which then resulted in him wincing and grabbing his rib and your worried expression was back.

“sorry…stop annoying me and i won’t hit you.” you said hurriedly and jiwoong let out a breathy laugh.

“it was the guy from yesterday.” he finally admitted. “what’s his name from your date.” jiwoong clicked his fingers as if trying to recall it.

“yuto?” you asked. you weren’t exactly surprised as you had heard the guy got into fights often, it was more how much damage he had caused.

“two other guys too. it was an unfair fight.” jiwoong tsked as if he could read your mind. “you know i wouldn’t have left with so much as a scrape if it was just yuto.” he bragged jokingly.

the bruise under his lip becoming more evident and you frowned even as he joked.

“you’re not taking this very serious. we have to report it.” you frowned standing up.

jiwoong’s hand held onto your wrist. “no. it doesn’t matter. they started the fight and i finished it. besides it was worth it.”

you gulped as he looked up into your eyes intensely. his gaze always left you weak in the knees, but now especially for some reason. it was unfair how he still looked pretty after a fight.

“at least let me get my first aid kit to clean you up.” you suggested softly and jiwoong finally released your wrist, nodding wordlessly.

you headed towards your bathroom quickly and his eyes followed you, even as you returned they were trained on you and you gave him a confused look whilst you opened up the first aid kit.

“got a staring problem?” you asked before applying disinfectant to his open wounds. he grimaced a little but maintained the smile on his face.

“only when it comes to you.”

and you bit back a smile. how could he continue to be so…jiwoong in a moment like this. it eased your worries a bit.

“i didn’t even think yuto liked me that much to start a fight over me. that’s crazy.” you tucked a strand of hair behind your ear as you glanced up at him for a moment, before going back to rooting around in the first aid kit for the ointment for bruises.

you couldn’t find it and sighed promising jiwoong you would go out later and get some for him.

“want ice for the…” you gestured towards your own left eye and he shrugged.

“if you think it will help.”

so you nodded and were standing up again this time to get a bag of peas or anything frozen for jiwoong to use for his eye.

when you returned again, bag of frozen peas in hand, jiwoong’s lips parted for a moment and then he started to speak. “so is starting a fight what it takes for you to realise someone likes you?” he asked, referring to what you had said a couple minutes prior.

and you blinked slowly at him in shock. “no. i pick up on signs. i’m not oblivious.”

“uh huh.” jiwoong said sarcastically and then smacked his lips together. he hummed in appreciation then as he took the bag of peas from you and applied them to his eye.

you were sat beside him again, the anxious expression back on your face as you scanned his injuries. even though he was all patched up now, your heart still wrenched due to the fact this was all because of you.

“i’m fine. promise.” he assured you, noticing the look in seconds.

you sighed and nodded. he wrapped an arm around your shoulder, pulling you into his side and your mind drifted off to the question he had asked earlier.

you moved your head and let your eyes linger on his features for moment before just straight up asking what you had been dying to know the answer to for months.

“do you like me?”

jiwoong snorted and licked his lips. “isn’t it obvious.”

your heart skips a beat but you remain composed scrunching your nose up at him. “no.”

he raised an eyebrow at you and smirked a bit once he noticed the small smile you were trying to hide.

“ruining every date you had and following you around like a lost puppy didn’t do it for you ms. ‘i pick up on signs’.”

you were two seconds away from nudging him before remembering his predicament.

“jiwoong you don’t get it. you’re so flirty with everyone, how was i supposed to know i was different?” you defended yourself.

he looked at you. he was really close now, you realised as his warm breath tickled your cheek.

“because as soon as i came to terms with my feelings, i didn’t act that way with anyone but you.”

his words had your heart doing somersaults in your chest.

you didn’t know what to say. your mouth was parted, as you were left speechless by his confession.

“you’re asking me all these questions but haven’t admitted anything to me.” jiwoong’s voice was quiet and gentle. it all felt very intimate and your face heated up.

“i…”

you looked at his eyes and then his lips and then his eyes again and your breath caught in your throat when he noticed. “you?”

“it’s obvious i like you too don’t embarrass me.” you covered your face finally surrendering from the unofficial staring competition he had started.

jiwoong laughed at how cute you were and removed your hand from your face.

despite the fact you weren’t really too keen on him having a good look at your blushing face you returned his piercing gaze.

he slowly leaned towards you, not needing to move much seeing as the pair of you were so close already.

he nudges your nose with his, a silent command for you to kiss him and without hesitation you grant his request.

you kiss him and one of his hands moves up slowly to caress your jaw and the other resting on the skin of your waist that had been exposed because of your t-shirt riding up. he tilted your head to deepen the kiss.

reluctantly he pulls away from you for a moment. he pecks your lips once more. “y/n…”

you nod, feeling somewhat dizzy from everything that had just happened.

“i love kissing you but my lip seriously fucking hurts.” he said and you burst out laughing.

“right, right i’ll go get that ointment.” you said to him before pressing a kiss to the corner of his lip and then his jawline and it was the first time you had seen jiwoong become visibly flustered.

“go.” he shooed you away and you smiled cheekily before standing up to head to the nearest pharmacy.
